Some DoomCat Nonsense
Mouse Warren playing with DoomCat and a laser pointer. Vega gets pounced on the crossfire. About 600 words.

Warren couldn’t stop giggling. It wasn’t often he managed to actually laugh out loud at things Johnny did, since it often had Warren running as fast as his little legs could carry him.
But this? Being able to have Johnny running around the bridge and occasionally bump into things like a house cat while Warren was way up high and safe? It was amazing and it had Warren into a fit of giggles.
He had timed it just perfectly, too. At this exact time yesterday Johnny had gone on a sprint through the Fortress, swatting at some of the little floating drones Vega had sent out. Vega had referred to this burst of energy as “Zoomies” and Warren had just been happy he wasn’t the thing being chased. He had spent many nights by now in the Fortress being the target of his attention during the Zoomy Time and it was not fun.
Warren hadn’t ever been hurt, but his heart would be racing while he had been stalked by a gargantuan beast. He had been snatched out of a blanket huddle and forcibly cuddled against a wall of solid muscle. He had been carried around like a kitten. He had been actually chased by Johnny, who had been down on all fours and his pupils had been so dilated there were no whites.
He loved the big guy, and the big lug loved him back, but sometimes he would just get… stupid.
Adjusting the bulky silver tube in his lap, Warren sent Johnny skittering across the floor of the bridge and had him nearly smack right into one of the consoles. As it turned out, Johnny would lose his mind when he saw a red dot.
It was probably the funniest thing that Warren had ever seen in his entire life.
This hulking giant of a man turned into a complete lunatic at a spot of light.
“Johnathan, what are you doing?” Vega, currently inhabiting the three foot tall ex-maintenance droid, walked in, several screens floating around. “Are the field drones not enough for…. oh.”
Warren saw Johnny’s tail twitch as he lowered himself back down when Warren flicked the red dot between them. With a spark of mischief flowing through him, Warren slowly brought the dot up and let it rest right in the middle of Vega’s chest.
“Johnathan.” Vega said in a soft warning tone. “I would advise you to not pounce.”
Warren wiggled the dot a little, seeing Johnny wiggle his hips slightly, and couldn’t contain his laughter when Johnny pounced and sent Vega crashing to the ground.
He removed his hand from the button and leaned forward, trying to stifle his laughter. Warren could only see an arm of Vega’s body sticking out from under Johnny. Now Vega knew what it was like to be squished under his chest.
“Slayer.” A muffled noise came from under Johnny, who was pawing at the ground, trying to figure out where the dot went. “Please get off me.”
After a second Johnny moved.
Vega got up on his feet and glanced up at the Slayer. “Honestly, Slayer, we do have a gym for a reason. You can get your Zoomies out there.”
Warren softly giggled and pressed the button to turn the laser back on. Johnny glanced up, eyes scanning the wall. It was only a second later when Warren realized that he could be seen up in the torch bracket with the red dot coming from the laser pointer in his lap.
Vega launched into a lecture as Johnny crouched back down. Warren squeaked and started to climb down. He knew how high Johnny could jump, and he did not want to get snatched off this torch bracket.
