#tbt gold days
Tiny Bae sat through every episode of Forces of Destiny and was absolutely riveted, so anyone who thinks little boys won’t enjoy content with female protagonists can go suck it.
revenge of the sith was in the nursery DVD player, and when I turned it on for him it was right at the scene where Obi Wan leaves Anakin to die. as soon as Padme comes on screen my nephew starts asking, “baby? baby? R2, baby?” so I told him yes, those are the babies inside her. He just covers his mouth and goes “oh, no.”
this toddler has a lot of concern about Luke and Leia, okay?
Finished setting up for Tiny Bae’s birthday and now that it’s time for the actual party I’m fucking exhausted.

So, I took Tiny Bae to school every day this week. He’s 4, and preschool has become Very Important, and so walking him to his classroom is a pretty big fucking deal for him. I liked meeting his teachers, and he was excited to introduce me to all of them and to his friends. I had a pretty cool chat with one of his teachers this week, after I signed him in, because she saw a moment that we had in the hall. Tiny Bae saw his friend, and immediately moved in for a hug - and the other boy flinched away but not enough to keep my nephew’s arms from going around him. I immediately pulled Tiny Bae away and said in a gentle tone, “I don’t think your friend would like a hug right now, kiddo.” I asked the other child his name, and he gave me a little smile, and I said, why don’t we ask [name] if he’d like a high-five instead? Or maybe a fist bump? We should always ask our friends before we touch them. The boys proceeded to make up a secret handshake, and they were both comfortable again by the time they crossed into their classroom. My nephew’s teacher thanked me for intervening, and implied that the other boy has some sensory overload tendencies (she didn’t say outright, of course, because privacy) and said she would follow up with them both in class to reinforce what had happened. I don’t have kids, and I don’t plan to, but it was pretty cool to unexpectedly find such an ally in teaching little boys about consent and respect and how to be Cool People. I hope she felt the same -- clearly I’ve been thinking about this for a couple of days now. lol
HEY TUMBLR MINDS. I am looking for some ideas for a toddler (my nephew) with dry skin who also shows strong signs (and an unofficial diagnosis) of Sensory Processing Disorders. One of the sensations that tends to set him off, is lotion. He is constantly complaining of itchy skin and tonight when I was changing him for bed, I could feel how dry and scaly his skin really is. Does anyone have any tips?
