"You know there is something funny, Abel! Specially since you specifically always seem to be destined to work for the TBD."
A sigh is heard, a wrench put to the side as goggles were removed at last. A pair of golden eyes flicked to look over to the figure that was floating upon a pair of golden shears. The figure was lounging upon the scissors like he was on a bed, a hand to their bottom jaw while laying sideways upon the metal surface.
"What are you talking about, Director?" Is asked, the voice more tired as a make shift eyebrow raised, looking towards the keeper of time with a gaze that almost screamed that there was work to be done. It was a gaze that Caine was used to at this point, a gaze he's seen infinite times from this Abel specifically. "You do understand that I don't quite get your sense of humor, nor how it ties into me working for the TBD."
A giggle was heard as Abel watched the director's legs kick like a teenage girl reading a magazine, watched how the director soon moved with a surprising fluidity. He twisted around the scissors like a snake, pulling around the tool before standing in the air properly.
And suddenly they were face to face, the idea of personal space seeming to just be a suggestion for Caine, specially this Caine. "Abel Abel Abel! My darling little clock work cog! My closest companion! The one who understands me the most!" The tone was sing song, a hand moved to pat Abel like he was a puppy. Abel actually was tempted to nip at the hand upon his head, only for it to pull away soon after the thought came to mind. "What's funny is that you'll become the Director of the TBD after me, and you don't even realize that!~"
There was a moment, a pause between the two before Abel spoke up. "But I won't..? I'm the head of the Technology Development division. And I will always be that. Nothing more and nothing less. And I know for certain you won't just hand the position over suddenly like that." Was said, trying to bite back at the 'joke' Caine was saying. And it was a terrible joke, because Abel was more then content with the job he had. "AND THAT! That's what makes it so funny! YOU think you'll always be that! That you'll always be... Abel! Ah I can remember when I said that, so certain and blissfully unaware.~"
"...What the #&^* are you talking about?"
"Oh Abel. My darling Abel! Do you not realize it yet? You are always so smart, specially when it comes to you and me."
"As the years tick on, the months, the days, the hours, the minutes, the seconds... You're just following the hands on the clock to your ending! Always meant to happen, always will happen. It's set in the timeline from the very beginning."
"YOU eventually, always eventually, become ME! Set in stone, set in time, a fact of reality! So it's funny watching you think it's not even possible. Though I do like it! It's so much fun seeing what choices you make, specially when it comes to this."
"But I won't become you. I won't it happen."
"Do keep doing that! It's the most exciting thing I've seen in quite a long time! Always nice to see new and unexpected things. It means I get to be surprised for once."
"... Let me get back to work, Caine."
"Oooh! THAT'S a new one! Alrighty, I should let you continue your projects. We'll meet again soon enough."
