Lately I've been focusing on the fact that I'm not too old to begin something new. I've begun to learn to play guitar and piano. I played piano years ago but it's been a minute. I'm also learning on a small keyboard so not the greatest but I'm grateful for what I have. As for the guitar, for now I'm learning on my step daughters youth guitar. So far so good.
The years have flown by. My oldest biological daughter is 10 1/2. One memory I have of her homecoming was being stranded in the parking garage of the Jackson Rancheria in Jackson, CA where both her father and I worked. My parents' car had broken down on our way home from the hospital. Their poor car was exhausted because I had gone into labor 5 minutes after they had arrived from Central Oregon and we immediately had to leave for the hospital. That seems like just yesterday. For 3 years now my girls' father is no longer in our lives, but those years have sped by.
Time is a fickle thing. What happens to us? What happens to our past selves? I feel we still exist in the past. Nothing is erased. We become who we're meant to be. Everyone who has been in and out of my life has influenced me to be the person I am, good and bad.
