Like they're so 'destroy ourselves and each other' that I'm surprised I didn't make the connection before. And Cathy seemed to have a lot more agency as compared to Tim but Simplex!Tim's thoughts are so similar to her especially the "You were right, you're in my head. In me. Always in me." line with this quote

"He's more myself than me" because Braxton is actively rewriting Tim, "Whatever souls are made of..." made of fungi, "If all else perished..." At this rate it will, and Braxton will probably order Tim to stay alive, "if all else remained and.." stranger because then he'll probably order Tim to forget everything and everyone else except him as a last-ditch attempt to not let anyone else have him, "He's always, always in my mind..." needs no further comment, and of course "not as a pleasure..." doing the heavylifting here.

Although considering that Cathy dies first and Braxton is more likely to (die and) haunt Tim than the other way around maybe Cathy and Braxton comparison should be made instead

Braxton probably believes they're having a Jane-and-Rochester Brontë sister storyline but they're firmly in Emily Brontë territory I fear. Benefactor!Tim and Brax would definitely have this interaction tho (wait, did it actually happen?). The Charlotte to Emily pipeline of Timbrax goes crazy...
