The life of TimbervvoIf, a Corsair.
The adventure begins! The typical blond character with that all so familiar mother's face. As soon as the maintenance for Pirates / Demethos was over I was instantly online, and was the first mapler to step foot in it. Moments later hundreds of others began flooding the first map of Maple Island, all jumping and F2'ing.
I was able to move a few steps then got disconnected from the flood of bald headed players. Off to a good start!
I join my brethren along the friendly ranks of Pirates! I took my time while on the island breaking boxes and collecting apples, so I got myself the first set of pirate equips. Others around me ponder why there aren't any tops / bottoms, but I just whistle along and go outside to whack pigs.
I avoided Henesys at first as I felt shy with all the new players. I stayed in channel 2 to avoid disconnecting any more, and continued on my training. A group of three girls entered my channel one after another, saying hi, then each famed me without me saying a single word. Didn't complain, but felt warm inside. I'm home<3
Blue hair!! -Level 20- I convinced my mom to buy me my first NX card, and accidentally make my hair black from a Regular Coupon. I try again with a VIP coupon, and choose blue. I get the hand of using a gun, and continue on with other maplers in the Henesys Hunting Grounds.
We're going metro and Level 36! About two weeks later (yes only got 15 levels in two weeks) I got more NX and after a little exploring, changed my hair to Metro in Kerning City. I debated it at first but it seemed to be popular along the ladies. I went into Monster Carnival for the first time, and start catching up to everyone. I meet my first friend here, who later would stick with me for several years, EtPat. These days were the best!
Level 43, and finally could afford a bathrobe. I got one for about 200k after having a few friends lend me some money. I of course scrolled it with all 100% scrolls. I was not aware of any other scrolls besides those sold from NPC shops as I never visited the Free Market. I'm not sure if I even knew it existed back then..
Level 50, when everything began to change! I had convinced my best friend to play MapleStory with me, and along with helping him level up, we both reached Level 50. He chose to be a Marauder as we've always been 'brothers' of a sort. Along with EtPat, AJK01 (my friend), and a few other maplers, I start my first guild [E]liteKnights. It consisted of mostly friends, and a few other various players. It never got past twenty, and I'm not quite sure when it died as well.
I somehow became friends with (at the time) the highest level player in Demethos and was invited to his guild Shock. He had blue dreamweaver hair (and so did his wife) and I always admired it. While he was a magician, he was one of the first players to inspire me, and I pushed onward to reach.. well.. 200. I met other friends around this time, and began to actually 'help' out. I visited the Free Market and learned the mysteries of scrolls although could never afford a single one. My maple 'story' was quickly changing.
At level 61 I finally got my first actual Cash equips. With the old maker system, making equips especially when you're poor was difficult and I really loved the hat. My friend and I both made a full set (besides the gloves) of the Level 60 equips, except wanted to be more blue. I call this period the classical timber period because the outfit reminds me country singer / dancer.. No idea why...
I went to train at Lower Ascent (before the EXP changes) for most of these levels before finally heading to Twisted Jesters. I remember several days not being able to find a single channel to train on there as it was one of those popular maps back then. Regardless I pushed forward and kept on training til I was content.
Level 69, dedicated to this sexyness. Here was a video I recorded almost four years ago while training at Twisted Jesters with my friend. I'm not sure why I had recorded this, but enjoy! [Recorded after Outlaw advancement]
Level 76 was a scary time for me. I decided to change my hair along with my outfit although don't recall why I had. I spent about 30k trying to get this hair, then regretted it once I had. I switched back to Cabana hair shortly after. Let's.. just.. forget.. this..
During this time I meet several great friends that I still know today. I was introduced to Jimmy a player originally from Demethos during this period. His main character was a higher level ranger, and inspired me a bit more. Him, along with other friends helped push me forward.
By Level 93 I was mostly well known and stayed in Henesys a lot. I was starting to get closer towards 4th job, and joined a big guild called Final Fantasy and made several new friends. I began to get a better grasp of how everything worked and started to learn as much as I could.
I went on my first CWKPQ run (although just sat around) and got a MoN. I completed my Zakum prequests during this time period along with lots of other party quests. Even to this day I still haven't done Pianus yet...
Level 105 was the beginning of the rest of my path to who I've become today. I had finally joined a stable guild and made ..hundreds of friends. I became mostly well known for being friendly and giving, and was offered into several parties.
The past few months had been a horrible period of my life in which I suffered from a bad depression and was hospitalized at one point. If there was a single thing I can thank for still being here would be the game.
Today, I feel an emotional connection to MapleStory because of this. This game honestly saved my life and I owe everything to it. I've meet hundreds to thousands of amazing friends all over the world who have been some of the best I could ever ask for.
Throughout these experiences I've grown as a person. I love helping others and giving back to the community. It's taught me to strive hard to be more social which has been difficult for me in the past.
MapleStory is my passion, and I will stay with it past the day I apply for Nexon to make it the best experience for everyone.
Since that level, I've continued to wear the same outfit. Although, the 'timber' hair is up next!
I was around 107 when I was invited to the 'first' MapleStory Discussion Group. I was able to meet a handful of the Nexon employees I would see again in the near future and had a lot of fun with the group as well. I voiced my concerns about the issues at the time and my opinions on how to resolve it. I don't think I've ever felt a connection to any company as I do with Nexon..
For all the veteran players, you'll remember how great of a training spot Gallops were in Singapore right before Level 120! I was around Level 114 when I finally changed my hair to what would become 'timber' hair.
Just like I was the same player to create a character on Demethos, I was eager to be the first person to get Prince hair. It was (and may still be) the only hair that actually moves when the player is standing still. I immediately headed to Henesys and was able to get it in three tickets.
I felt perfect! I had the exact look I had always wanted, and got the occasional 'wow, your hair moves' comments from passing maplers. There was only a single thing left to do; climb to Level 120.
I spent hours and hours, day after day grinding at Gallops as I was never rich enough to afford Bigfoot leeches back then. Sadly, this eagerness to get to 4th job didn't work too well. It took another four to five months to get to 118.
Big Bang! The big bang update was a month away, and Nexon had released Cash Shop Surprises. I decided to buy a couple just to pass the time and screamed my head off when I got a day 2x coupon. I ran to Gallops, bought a 2x card, had my friend HS me, and this was ALL DURING A 2X EVENT...!! Let's just say I was getting 1% every second at Level 118 Pre-Big Bang which was crazy.
[Notice]: TimbervvoIf has reached Level 120! ~ I reached Level 120 the way I had always wanted. Off of a summoning sack~! It was a bit silly, but still had fun. I'll always be thankful to all the friends who made this possible, and kept the tail dropped from that monster in my inventory for almost two years now. I've been hacked twice during that time, yet the tail (nor my ETC items) were ever touched.
You have to stay strong, and not let anything; Anything stop you from being yourself.
Almost another two years had passed since I reached the ledge of the mountain. I was Level 158 when I changed my eyes with a Royal Coupon. I now reside in the guild Memoria, which has been one of the greatest alliances and friends I could ask for. Our alliance has a strict rule on no hacking, so we mostly have some nice players. Through it I became friends with Sam, Susie, Carlos, and several others.
Over the last year I've actively helped out on Twitter on @TimbervvoIf along with on the Nexon forums as well.
