Jose Bautista Hugging Blue Jays: A Photo Essay
So as you may have heard, Jose Bautista came back to the Dome last night, for the first time since leaving the Jays. He came and said hi to some old friends during batting practice.
He shared some laughs with Gibby:
He hugged Teoscar Hernandez, his teammate for one month last year and heir apparent in the role of “Slugging outfielder who we love but also sometimes can’t tell which way is up in the outfield”:
He hugged Justin Smoak (before their playful shoving match at first base after Bautista walked in the first inning):
He hugged Russell Martin (THAT HAIR!!!):
He hugged Luke Maile:
He hugged Kevin Pillar (I swear that’s Pillar)
He hugged Tim Leiper, because #LeiperTheBest
He hugged Marcus Stroman, or, more accurately, Stroman tackled him with a hug:
And my favourite moment was when he hugged Devon Travis, first doing their little hop-skip home run celebration, then patting him on the head and bringing him in for the hug - Travis knows he’s short, he just went for the torso, and beamed THE WHOLE TIME. My heart.
Many thanks to all the photographers/camera crew who captured these awesome moments. Truly doing the important work.
