24/50 moments from The Phantom of the Opera
Does Monsieur Firmin wear wigs? When I saw poto world tour I supposed the actors use their own hair, but when I watch bootlegs I'm not sure.
I think it depends on the productions. Maria Bjørnson designed Firmin to have a too awesome combed down hairdo, and productions featuring this usually let the Firmin use his own hair for this. But in other productions they curl Firmin’s hair, and for this they often use wigs. Some actors also only wear their hair as it it, short cut and maybe greyish, without really going for a specific style.
So yeah, wigs happens, but I believe it’s even more common to NOT wear wigs for those playing Firmin. For André wigs is a lot more common, it seems. He is also featured with a fluffier hairdo in the design.Â
Today’s managers are brought to you by: Receiving the score for a test you thought you failed but surprisingly passed. Barely.
some info: Tim Jerome is doing his final shows as Firmin this week and being replaced by a new guy next week, Barbour officially leaves in February. no word on who the next Phantom will be
(ETA: anon messages are of course just rumours unless official sites/cast members/agencies has made announcements)
LEEEEET IT BEEEEEE JOHN OWEN-JOOOOOOOONESSSSS!!!!
CAUSE HE LEAVES THE WEST END PRODUCTION IN JAAANUUAAARYYY!
Hats off to Tim Jerome for a very solid Firmin run.
(new Firmin is Craig Bennett)

John Savident, who originated the role of Firmin, liked to perform the Manager’s scene in the vest, without a tailcoat. I’ve heard conflicting stories on whether the management approved of it or not. Whatever the case it IS interesting to see current Broadway Firmin, Tim Jerome, do the same thing.
