"People shouted and cheered. I pulled on. To the lasting shame of all my antecedents my stiff upper lip collapsed altogether and as I pulled, tears rolled down my cheeks. I wasn't crying at the pain, although it was intense, but at the fact people cared. It seemed that for once a random lot of people had come together, forgotten all the aggravating things in their lives and united to celebrate something very silly. In the final strokes of the bath, I cried with a sheer unadulterated sense of joy."
- All At Sea: One man. One bathtub. One very bad idea, by Tim FitzHigham
The world really needs less of people arguing over who deserves the respect and support of whom and more of people pulling together to support someone doing something completely stupidly, suicidally dumb ass in order to just make the world a little bit better. It would be a much better place to live in if we'd all just hop in a bath and row across the English Channel or La Manche* or whatever you want to call it.
Or maybe just donate money for the guy who's doing it.
