Gifts Time! ✨🎁✨
Did this one while I was on my way to the United States! Decided to add the Cratchit kids because a grumpy old man is never complete without his reluctantly adopted kids XD
I’m very tempted to actually colour this one so I’ll try and do that soon!
Merry Christmas folks! I wrote my very first Songfic to the finale of Les Miserables. I hope yall enjoy! This is very much inspired by the epilogue of Marley: A Queer Prequel to a Christmas Carol by Murphy Wyrd.
(note: I did cut a lyric because I didn’t know how I was going to change it).
(This takes place many years after the events of a Christmas Carol. Tiny Tim has grown up. Scrooge however is at his last minutes of life).
[Scrooge:]
Alone, I wait in the shadows
I count the hours till I can sleep
I dreamed a dream Tim stood by
It made him weep to know I die
Alone at the end of the day
Upon this wedding night, I pray
Take these children, my Lord, to thy embrace
And show them grace
God on high, hear my prayer
Take me now to thy care
Where You are, let me be
Take me now, take me there
Bring me home
Bring me home
(Marley’s spirit appears to Scrooge. His chains seemed to have vanished.)
[Marley:]
My love, I bless your name
My love, lay down your burden
You raised this child in love
[Scrooge:]
I am ready, Marley
At the end of my days
He’s the best of my life
[Marley:]
And you will be with God
[Tim:]
Scrooge! Uncle Scrooge, I do not understand!
Are you alright? They said you'd gone away
[Scrooge:]
Tim, my child, am I forgiven now?
Thank God, thank God, I've lived to see this day
[Tim:]
It's you who must forgive a thoughtless fool
It's you who must forgive a thankless man
It's thanks to you that I am living
And again I lay down my life at your feet
[Scrooge: (talking over Tim) You were so young my child. No need for all that].
[Scrooge:]
Now you are here
Again, beside me
Now, I can die in peace
For now my life is blessed
[Tim:]
You will live!
Uncle, you're going to live!
It's too soon
Too soon to say goodbye
[Scrooge:]
Yes, Tim
Forbid me now to die
I'll obey... I will try...
On this page
I write my last confession
Read it well
When I, at last, am sleeping
It's the story
Of those who always loved you:
Your father did all he could for you
Through his safekeeping
[Scrooge dies]
(Tim and the rest of the Cratchit’s have processed the fact that he is gone now. Tim breaks down crying. The rest of the family cry too as they try to comfort Tim)
[Marley:]
Come with me
Where chains will never bind you
All your grief
At last, at last, behind you
Lord in Heaven
Look down on him in mercy
[Scrooge:]
Forgive me all my trespasses
And take me to Your glory
(Fan’s spirit appears behind Marley and joins him)
[Marley & Fan:]
Take my hand
And lead me to salvation
Take my love
For love is everlasting
[Scrooge, Marley & Fan:]
And remember
The truth that once was spoken:
To love another person is to see the face of God!
(Marley and Fan take Scrooge over to the afterlife. The Fezziwigs, The three ghosts, and all that loved Scrooge in life who have passed on were there to see him as well. They all sing as they are happy to see him. Scrooge died happy and with no chains).
BONUS MOMENT
(After everyone greets Scrooge, Marley takes him in his arms. But before he could do anything, he had to reassure Scrooge that everyone was ok with it. Fan especially was. The relief was visible in his face before the two kissed after so many years of separation).
do you think tim would call scrooge "uncle ebby"?
If i had a nickel for everytime starkid had a poor little boy in a red flannel named tim in their shows, id have two nickels, which isnt alot but its weird that it happened twice

Ending scene A Christmas Carol (2009)
anyone know if the other Cratchit kids had names in the show? obviously there's Tim and Peter but like...what are the other kids called?
I'll take suggestions :)
in any case, in my retelling it takes time for timothy to warm up to ellen but they do develop that 'second father' relationship. second mother.
they bond over building things. timothy is a LEGO kid. he loves building things. and ellen has had building autism her entire life.
ellen scrooge showing timothy the intricate details of her city skylines cities while timothy takes notes
he shows her his Minecraft world. she's very impressed.
