Episode 18 featured a translation error that I can’t exactly be too angry about because it’s understandable how it happened. However, the audience’s understanding of the scene suffers from it. Here’s the error.
Isuzu’s dialogue should be, “Yeah, I love Daddy and Mommy, too.” Because as you can see:
The person Isuzu is speaking to in that scene is neither of her parents.
Something to be aware of.
When Kyoko woke up on that beach, boy did I cry.
The top pic is TokyoPop’s manga translation, and very obviously the more accurate translation. Kyo literally just said that he was pathetic, and I don’t know how anybody could watch this scene and infer that Yuki was referring to Tohru. If it was Tohru he was referring to, why would Hatsuharu ask if he was being sarcastic? Yuki wouldn’t be sarcastic about Tohru, and Hatsuharu wouldn’t expect him to be either. But you don’t even need to understand that nuance of Yuki’s feelings toward Tohru, because Kyo literally just said “I’m pathetic.”
I hope Funimation fixes this very obvious error that fucks up the weight of the scene. I would especially hate for them to dub it this way.
One moment I'm so excited to see animated that almost makes me tear up just thinking about. "When is eventually?" The moment Tohru admits that the curse HAS to be broken before April. That it might as well not ever break if it isn't broken by then. Because as much as she wants to help all the Somas, there's one that matters to her most, not just out of the Somas, but of everyone.

Just gonna put it out there. Arisa x Kureno doesn't strike me as problematic. Arisa is a senior when they meet and is an adult by the time they hook up. Circumstances have forced her to be independent early in life while Kureno's have delayed him in that regard. Pair those exceptional circumstances with a culture that fosters early independence anyhow, and what you're left with are two characters whose ages are the least of their hurdles.
I'm a big proponent of fictional expression and suspending disbelief to tell a story, but in this case, I don't even feel a need to suspend my disbelief. And I'm honestly getting pretty sick of seeing otherwise beautiful art, gifs, and commentary for this ship preceded by big, bold "CAUTION: I know this ship is problematic!" Because it's... really not.
I know the assumption seems to be that the father we see at the end of Fruits Basket is Hajime, but until anything canon-confirms that, I'm gonna believe that's Hajime's little brother. For starters, I don't think he looks a ton like Hajime. Granted, the creation of Hajime as a character came years later. But I'm also pretty convinced that Hajime and Mutsuki have a thing going on.
Honestly, I just ship Hajime x Mutsuki too much to accept that that's Hajime with a wife and child.
