                    arms  𝗐 𝗋 𝖺 𝗉  around  her  daughter’s  slim  waist  ,  pulling  her  in  𝖼 𝗅 𝗈 𝗌 𝖾 𝗅 𝗒  as  a  pale  hand  runs  through  𝗌 𝗈 𝖿 𝗍  raven  locks  .  ariel  knows  all  too  well  the  𝗌 𝗍 𝗋 𝗎 𝗀 𝗀 𝗅 𝖾  of  not  fitting  in  with  your  peers  ,  as  she  𝗈 𝖿 𝗍 𝖾 𝗇  felt  that  way  at  sixteen  when  she  was  the  only  one  in  her  family  who  𝗂 𝗇 𝖽 𝗎 𝗅 𝗀 𝖾 𝖽  in  fantasies  about  the  human  world  .  however  ,  she  knows  that  if  she  hadn’t  𝗋 𝖾 𝖻 𝖾 𝗅 𝖾 𝖽  against  her  father  ,  she  never  would’ve  met  eric  ,  and  melody  wouldn’t  be  here  today  .

                    in  a  way  ,  while  she  knows  her  father  had  the  𝖻 𝖾 𝗌 𝗍  𝗂 𝗇 𝗍 𝖾 𝗇 𝗍 𝗂 𝗈 𝗇 𝗌  for  her  (  after  all  ,  it  was  humans  who’d  𝗄 𝗂 𝗅 𝗅 𝖾 𝖽  her  mother  )  ,  she  also  knew  that  she  had  to  do  what  she  felt  was  𝗋 𝗂 𝗀 𝗁 𝗍  for  herself  .  sure  ,  there  were  a  few  (  okay  ,  𝖺  𝗅 𝗈 𝗍  )  of  bumps  in  the  road  ,  but  it  all  𝗐 𝗈 𝗋 𝗄 𝖾 𝖽  𝗈 𝗎 𝗍  in  the  end  .

          “  it’s  going  to  be  alright  .  like  i  said  ,  it’s  tough  being  a  teenager  ,  but  ,  sweetheart  ,  you  have  to  remember  that  your  father  and  i  have  your  back  .  ”

                    that  sounds  a  little  𝗂 𝗋 𝗋 𝖾 𝗌 𝗉 𝗈 𝗇 𝗌 𝗂 𝖻 𝗅 𝖾  ...  maybe  she  should  add  to  it  ,  to  𝖼 𝗅 𝖺 𝗋 𝗂 𝖿 𝗒  .

"i can't really control water but I can hold my breath for a really long time and swim very fast?" purposely leaves out the mermaid bit; unlike her mother, melody is only half-mermaid and is incapable of controlling waves or do anything particularly special ( except the siren song ). "but i don't think my great-grandfather would be very pleased with someone else manipulating his ocean." a smile declares playfulness in her words, nothing but a joke to accompany the mood.

chin pulls back as brows furrow ;  the stream of water squiggling between hands falls back into the surf.         ❝ his ocean ??  ❞         confusion laces the boy’s voice ,  part genuine and part exaggerated performance —--  aang caught the lighthearted joking in her retort.   though the reaction is theatrical ,  the sentiment behind it is real.

✧･ﾟ: *✧･ﾟ:*  { @tiaraes } unprompted it's very late, the sun would rise any minute but melody is far from tired. the fun night she had with anna has her forgetting all her stress and pressure of those who wear a crown, instead relishing in the moment of being young. "over there," she whispers in between giggles, running across the grass and down the stairs towards the castle's private beach where the sunrise can be seen, hair untidy and dress dirty. it doesn't matter, she sits down on the sand anyway. "there it is.... "

the sun is a magnificent reminder of a night spent in nothing short of pure bliss-- companionship regarded as a treasure as bright as the rising sun. anna threw herself into the sand, not fearing the soiling of her dress one bit. how could she dare worry about such trivialities when in the middle of her youth.
