The longest week of their lives
This is a continuation of the introduction of The Happenings of The Metamorphos Nebula, about what happens during the week that (Name) is unconscious, as there are things that I want to add that will make more sense for some of the future routes that will come out. Also there is going to be some obvious cannon divergence in this fic, simply because this is my fanfiction and I'll write what I want damn it! There are also an added character, as you will soon see. I plan on going back to tweak the original story a bit so that I can add a few improvements here and there.
—-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FIRST THREE HOURS
The steady beats of the heart monitor filled the room of the med bay. Ratchet, who was checking on the levels of both her water and nutrients bags, let out a sigh just as his optics slowly examined the woman’s sleeping face.
It had been three hours since (Name) was brought to the med bay. He was still so confused about how a nebula would do this to someone. He could only imagine how excruciating the pain must have been for her, to suddenly grow from her previous (height) to a shocking 25 feet tall. She was taller than most and met face to face with the majority of the cybertronians on the ship.
There also wasn’t way to turn her back without risking something else happening to her should they try to return to the Metamorphos Nebula. All that they could do for her was make her life as comfortable as they could with what they had.
“How is she?” Ratchet looked up to see First aid walk into the room, bringing in some energon for both him and his fellow doctor. Just as Ambalon entered the room as well, bringing in some more nutrient pouches from cold storage to transfer over to larger pouches.
“She’s still stable, and seems to be responding well to the water and nutrients. But still no sign of her waking up.” Ratchet walked towards the medic and took the energon that was offered to him. He took a long gulp, just as First aid placed his energon down on a nearby desk to check on her vitals for himself.
There wasn’t a whole lot that he could do for her as of right now, but the least he could do was keep an optic on her. She was someone precious to him, not just because she was the first human he had seen in a very long time, but with how patient and kind she was to him when he was tasked with aiding in her own medical needs by Ratchet.
—-----------------------------------------------------------
“Please let me know if I am making you uncomfortable at all, this would be the first time I'm doing a pelvic check on a human. So, I'll try not to stare too long… Not that I would!” (Name) let out a soft giggle as she leaned back on the human sized examination table. She had a sheet covering her lab as her feet were in the stirrups in front of her.
“It’s ok, First aid. If Ratchet, my personal physician, trusts you, then I trust you as well.” (Name) gestured to the medic standing behind the mass displaced mech.
“From what I've been told by Ratchet, the human female genitalia isn’t much different from cybertonian valves. So it won’t be too unfamiliar territory for you, you’ll do just fine” (Name) encouraged with a gentle smile that helped the medical bot relax a bit.
First aid let out a sigh, and gently lifted up the sheet. He realised that she was correct, that what he was seeing was similar to a cybertronian valve.
Ratchet would pipe in with a few helpful notes here and there, as he examined the woman carefully. Once he was finished, he pulled the sheet back down and (Name) smiled at him.
—----------------------------------------------------
She was kind to him, when she had no reason too. Trusted him when she had no reason too. First aid watched her sleeping face, she looked so at peace and miserable at the same time, it was disconcerting. But, she was breathing, and her vitals were stable. She was alive.
Suddenly the woman started retching and gagging, catching the bot off guard. Ratchet spat out his energon at the sound, as Ambalon’s helm snapped over at the sounds as Firstaid immediately opened the woman’s mouth. The medic’s optics widened behind his visor as a silverly, gray sludge started pooling in the back of her throat.
First aid immediately tried to roll her over onto her side, just as Ratchet and Ambalon rushed over to help. Once she was turned over to her side, the woman unconsciously purged the thick sludge from her body. It fell to the floor with a large ’splat’ as more flowed from her mouth. Once the three were sure that she was finished, they were quick to roll her back.
Ambalon quickly checked to see if her feeding tube was still in place as Ratchet quickly left to grab something to clean her mouth up with. First aid, moved to investigate the sludge. Upon closer inspection, he noticed that the sludge had no odor and looked to have the consistency of honey.
He was quick to pull out a metal scraper and dish from his sub space and quickly scooped up the stuff into it for testing. When Ratchet returned, First aid got up from where he was crouching and quickly walked over to the medic.
“This looks nothing like the nutrients we’ve been giving her, it doesn’t even have the same consistency” First aid said, as Ratchet looked over the sludge, before taking it from the medic’s servos and handing him a clean rag that he had found.
“Get her cleaned up, I’ll take this to the lab to find out exactly what it is made of and keep an optic on her condition.” Ratchet ordered, before turning and leaving for the lab.
First aid quickly turned around, watching as Ambalon gently adjusted the tarp that was draped across her body, and approached. He gently used the cloth to clean up the residue around (Name)’s mouth and cheeks.
“Her vitals are completely fine, like the purging never happened.” Ambalon noted, turning his attention to First aid, who had finished cleaning (Name)’s mouth and face.
“Odd… very odd”
—---------------------------------------------------
DAY 1. First hour.
Megatron sat by (Name)’s bedside, reading her poems that he had written. While she was still unconscious and unable to give a response, he felt like she could hear him and that brought him some comfort.
“Megatron” the former warlord paused his reading to look up at Ambalon who stood before him. The mech was uncomfortable, but made optic contact with his former leader.
“Ratchet had mentioned that while you are more than welcome to visit her, we also need to be able to work on her when needed. ” A polite way of saying that they did have visiting hours and he was overstaying his welcome.
Megatron nodded, and watched as Ambalon hesitated for just a moment before turning to work on a report on (Name)’s health.
The co-captain turned his attention back to (Name) as a sudden memory came back to his mind.
—-------------------
Both Megatron and (Name) were in his habsuite, he was having her proof read one of.his latest works. He was mass displaced and anxiously awaited her opinion, watching as her eyes scanned over her own data pad.
The poem was about a mech lost in his own exhausting madness trying to atone for his crimes. Who was then welcomed gently and accepted by a kind angel who saw how he was trying to change and gave him a chance even though he had caused harm to the ones who were precious to her.
(Name) suddenly smiled and looked over at him. He relaxed slightly under her positive gaze.
“This is amazing work as always, Megs. You're becoming a better poet with each passing day.” The woman praised, placing her data pad back down onto her lap.
“Thank you, (Nick name), I'm happy that it meets your standards. You were my inspiration for this piece.” (Name)’s eyes widened at that, before curiously asking him why.
“You, the only one amongst your kind, truly see that I am trying to atone for my sins. I have done things that I am not proud of, and I have taken so many lives during my tyrannical march.” Megatron began.
“Even though you know what I have done to not only your species, but to the rest of the universe, you still see that I still have some good left in me. Even though I can't see it yet. I will forever be grateful for that, grateful for you.” Megatron watched as her jaw dropped slightly, before she immediately got up from where she was sitting and marched over to him.
For a moment, he was worried that he had offended her. That thought quickly disappeared when she crawled into his lap and hugged him. He froze.
Never in his life had he been held like this before, been held so gently and felt this warm. She was so warm. He shakily and hesitantly wrapped his own arms around her hugging her back.
“I am so incredibly honored that I could be such a positive influence in your life, Megs. I know you are working so hard to atone. Even though you will have to face the consequences of your crimes once your adventure is over. I can't wait to see the mech you will become, I hope I can live long enough.” Megatron tightens his grip on her slightly.
She was right, there was a very good chance that she would die of old age before she'd get the chance to see how much he could change. That thought shot a sharp pain of dread through his spark. Human lives were short, so much shorter than cybertronians.
He knew that once she passed, earth would send another human in her place. Like she never existed in the first place. Someone that would fear him, who would know all the atrocities that he had committed and would go off his crimes rather than who he was trying to become.
The thought made him sick, he didn't want to lose her. The one friend besides Optimus and Rodimus that believed that he was capable of change. The only organic that believed in him.
“I treasure you, my friend. I will keep the memories of our time together close to my spark. For as long as I am allowed.”
—-------------------
Megatron snapped out of his memories, and looked down at the woman next to him. Still asleep, still alive. He sighed in a mix of relief and dread.
How long would she have now? Would she live a longer life be able to finally see the mech he would become, someone worthy of her friendship and admiration? If so, then she would have to see him face his crimes by either execution or external imprisonment.
That wasn't something that he wanted her to witness. Even then when her job was done, where would she go? If he had to guess, it would take billions of years for them to complete their adventure. Who's to say that earth would still want her back? Even at her larger size.
He had a suspicion that they wanted nothing to do with her, based on the conversations he had with both Ultra Magnus and Rodimus. How they would avoid the topic of earth entirely when it was brought up. He knew that they were afraid of his reaction if he found out his suspicions were correct.
A faint, but deep rage filled his spark. What would she do if they wanted nothing to do with her anymore? If they barred her from the only home that she had ever known, for something that wasn’t even her fault, something that she had no control over? It was unfair, cruel, it reminded him of how things used to be back on cybertron.
He stopped himself from having those thoughts, as it wasn’t the time for him to be angry. He used the venting exercises that Rung had taught him and calmed down. He then gently grabbed (Name)’s hand and gently brought it to his dermas and pressed her to his dermas.
He held her hand there for a few seconds before gently placing her hand back down to the berth. Right now, his main focus was her, how to help her adjust to her new life. He quietly got up from where he was sitting, making sure to take his data pad with him, and left the room.
—-----------------------------------------------
Day 1, third hour
Rodimus, let out a sigh as he sat in his captain’s chair. He should be focusing on finding the knights of cybertron, but he can’t get what the people of earth, (Name)’s home planet said about her. How they wouldn't take her back as she was far too much for them to take back now. It was his own fault that she was like this, and yet they seemed to be punishing her for it.
It made him angry, unbelievably so. They sent her to keep an eye on Megatron, it was his idea to visit the Metamorphos Nebula. It was his fault that she was like this, and yet she was being punished for it.
If she really did have the lifespan of a cybertronian now, like what all three medics theorized, he would be damn sure she has a place to live. Whether that would be on cybertron or some other organic planet that was safe for her. He knew that Optimus and his own team would be more than willing to help her out if he couldn’t find something for her.
‘Damn it, I can't get her out of my processor. She’ll be fine, she’ll live…’ Rodimus thought to himself, as his mind wandered to a memory he had of her. Back when they visited an organic planet to refuel and get supplies.
—---------------------
(Name) was in the observation deck, listening to the rain hit the windows of the lost light while watching the city outside the ship. While this was an organic planet, the air wasn’t safe for her to breathe without some kind of aid. Ultra Magnus had forbidden her from leaving the ship, she knew that it was for her own safety, but she was still itching to go explore.
“Itching to go out and run around?” (Name) turned her head to see Rodimus approach her, sitting down next to her.
“Yeah, I know that Ultra Magnus is just worried for my own safety and health. But, this is the first organic planet that I have seen in a while. I wanna see what life is like out there.” (Name) said, turning her attention back out to the window. Rodimus was silent for just a moment before answering.
“You know, I could just transform and let you ride in me while driving around. Or just stuff you in my subspace?” Rodimus offered, causing the woman to let out a short laugh.
“Ha! I better not, Ultra Magnus would have both our asses if he found out! But, thanks for the offer.” (Name) smiled at her captain who shrugged.
“Yeah, you’re probably right. So then what do you want to do?” Even though he wanted to go out on a drive, just to see what the planet had to offer while gathering intel. There were already others doing that, and he didn’t want to leave (Name) here alone. While Megatron was here on the ship, he was held up in his habsuite getting some sleep. Leaving (Name) to her own devices.
“I’d like to sit here and watch the rain. I kinda miss the feeling of just standing in the rain, letting the droplets hit my skin. I used to do that a lot back on earth, there was something so refreshing about just standing in the rain.” (Name) explained, noticing how Rodimus shivered at the thought.
“Yeah, you couldn’t get away with that back on cybertron.” (Name) made a sound of acknowledgement. She had remembered Megatron talking about how it rained acid back on their home planet.
“Oh yeah, the acid rain. Does regular rain bother you, or do you get some flash backs from your home planet?” (Name) asked, looking back to Rodimus who was deep in thought.
“Back on earth? It was an adjustment to get used to, I remember freaking out when it started raining one day and was so confused when I wasn’t melting.” Rodimus admitted, a (Name) gave him a sympathetic look.
The two ended up talking for a good thirty to forty minutes, about their home planets. Sharing stories and experiences that got a few laughs and smiles.
“I gotta take you to my old stomping grounds, Nyon, the highways were always a good drive. And the views are like nothing you’ve seen before ” Rodimus spoke, and (Name) nodded in agreement.
“I’d like that, and thank you” Rodimus gave the woman a questioning look.
“What for?”
“Well, for starters, for letting me aboard the ship.” (Name) began.
“I’ve made so many friends and memories, this is such an amazing experience to have.” (name) paused for a moment before she let out a quick laugh.
“And thank you for being my friend. You are one of the best people I've ever worked for, I am proud to call you my captain.” (Name) finished, watching as Rodimus’ frame seemed to ruffle slightly at the praise.
She knew that there were people that criticized his every choice and command, but that wasn’t to say that he was a bad captain. She could also tell that he had his own doubts in his own capabilities as a leader. Like he was doubting that he was really good enough to be a prime.
“I think that you’re doing great” (Name) said, with an honest smile.
—--------------------------------------------------
She trusted his own judgement more than he did, like she saw something in him that he couldn’t. From that day on, he considered her a close friend, someone that he could rely on when he just needed to vent other than that Rang guy.
‘She better be ok, or I will never forgive myself for what I've done to her…’
—-----------------------------
Day 2, twenty-second hour.
Ultra Magnus was finishing up the report that (Name) had started before the incident. He looked over the rest of her work, realizing just how much she had to do. Not only was she tasked with keeping an optic on Megatron, but she had also picked up a few other jobs to keep busy. She kept track of their supplies, managed the monthly budget, edited Rodimus’ quarterly reports, and kept track of the people of the ship.
Yet, she never complained or tried to push her added jobs back to the others that gave them to her. She worked hard and with a smile, it was something that he liked to see. It was also something that he has grown to miss, she had her ways of making things lively. She would color code things for Rodimus, finding that he had a better time focusing if there were in bright and engaging colors.
What he missed most, was being able to just be Minimus Ambus around her, rather than being Ultra Magnus. He remembered the first time she had seen him without his armor, how she accepted him immediately with no hesitation. How she saw Minimus Ambus just as much of an equal as Ultra Magnus.
—---------------------------------------
Minimus Ambus had just gotten out of his armor in his habsuite when the door slid open, shocking the mech inside as well as (Name) who was on the other side.
“Ah, darn sensor! Sorry Ultra Magnus, I was trying to knock but the door sensor is–uh.. “ (Name)’s eyes widened at the sight of Minimus outside of the Ultra Magnus armor. Minimus started at (Name) in shock while she stared back
“Wait… you were actually another bot entirely?” (Name) questioned eyeing the green bot up and down. A six foot tall bot that was piloting a forty-two foot suit of armor. Not what she was expecting but she didn’t judge, she was sure that he had his reasons for not telling her.
“Yes, Ultra Magnus is a title. My actual designation is Minnimus Abmus… is that a problem? I’ve been meaning to tell you, but I haven't been able to find the right time.” (Name) shook her head and smiled.
“No, I don't have a problem with this at all. Though I'd like to know if I should still call you Ultra Magnus or Minimus Ambus while you're outside of the armor?” Minimus scanned over (Name)’s face, trying to find any sort of judgement, but found none. The Mech relaxed and vented.
“I’d prefer to be referred to as Minimus Ambus while I am outside of the Armor, now I'm assuming there is a reason as to why you are here?” (Name), suddenly remembering why she was there in the first place, took a few steps closer to Minimus and showed him her data pad that she had been holding.
“It’s about the budget, I've been running the numbers over and over and I keep hitting this brick wall. It feels like I'm missing something, but I don't know what. Everything has been documented but it feels like there’s some shanx that is missing.” (Name) explained, showing Minmus her spread sheet and the total amounts.
The two spent hours brainstorming on where that money could have gone, when they realized that Whirl had been boasting about some new weapons that he had gotten from Swindle. It didn’t take long for the two to put together that Whirl had somehow gotten his claws on the missing shanx.
“So that’s where it all went.” (Name) was satisfied that they were able to figure out where the missing shanx went.
“Yes, looks like I’ll have to lecture him…again.”
“Looks like you’ll have to lecture me as well, since I’m supposed to keep track of our budget.” surprisingly Minimus shook his helm.
“No, no. Originally that was Rodimus’ job, with how much you have on your plate it is only natural that you’d slip up.” Minimus defended.
“Still though, I took the job as I wanted to be of more help around the ship. Everyone works so hard to keep the ship and everyone on it safe, I want to contribute in some way other than shadowing Megatron.” (Name) said. It was respectable how hardworking and dedicated (Name) was to her work, though she seems to have taken more than she could chew.
“If that is what you wish, but please do take your own health and how much you can handle into consideration. If it ever gets too much, please let me know and I will help you as best I can.” (Name) smiled, and nodded her head in understanding.
“I will, also, I’d like to see you out of your armor more often. I quite like this Minimus Ambus, no offense to your title, but you’re far more relaxed and at ease while you’re yourself. It’s nice to see you like this.”
—-------------------------------------------------
“Hmm… we’ll have to ease her back into work, let her adjust to her new body once she wakes up. Perhaps I'll see if there is anyone else who’d be willing to take up her workload.” Ultra magnus muttered to himself, sorting through the various datapads. A sudden thought crossed his processor, something that he overheard her mentioning to Megatron a few months ago.
“I wonder where I could get (Favorite flowers) from…”
—--------------—-------------
Day 3.
Rung cycled through several data pads of patient information when he ran across (Name)’s own profile. The physicist hesitated for a moment, before gently taking the data pad into his servos and placed it down onto his desk.
It had her picture, and hours upon hours of their discussions and meetings. It was mostly just him trying to get to know her, how they would talk about the ship's life and what they both did to pass the time. Basically just him trying to gently pry into walls that weren't really there. She was an open book, she freely talked about herself to him without trying to hide anything.
He was a bit shocked with how open she was with him. He figured that she would have had a hard time taking to ship life with being far larger than her, but she took to it like a duck to water.
—------------------------------------------------
“Hello (Name), thank you for joining me here today.” Rung stepped aside and allowed the small human to walk into his office while she looked around. She took in every detail of his office, taking note of all the model ships he had in bottles.
“I should be thanking you, I'm surprised with how busy you are these days. I've been on this ship for four months and this is our first time meeting. I’m happy to finally be face to face with you.” She walked over to the patient's bed and was about to ask for a lift when she was offered a servo.
“Yes, my apologies for that. I was so caught up with the others on the ship that I didn’t have time to properly introduce myself.” He watched as the woman gently sat down onto his open servo and lifted the woman up to the patient bed and gently placed her down before taking a seat next to the bed.
“So tell me about yourself.” Rung pulled out a data pad and stylist from his subspace. (Name) proceed to go into detail about herself, her life and the friends and family that she had willingly left behind.
“It was a hard choice, leaving all that I've known behind, but I don't regret it. Besides, I got to make so many new friends and this place has really become like a second home to me” Rung hummed jolting a few notes down.
“And your family and friends were ok with this?” Rung asked.
“Oh, we don’t really talk. We haven’t talked for… oh I don’t know… a couple years now?” Rung paused what he was writing, and looked up at (Name). She looked unbothered by that fact, or she gave him no sign that she would be bothered.
“We had a falling out a few years back, and they never tried to reach out. Even though I've been reaching out to them for years. The day I was going to leave was when they decided to reach out. They just started spamming me with calls, and I just ignored each one and left without giving them an answer.” (Name) explained non-chalontly.
Rung was silent for a few moments, and was about to say something when (Name) spoke up once more.
“If they really wanted me back in their lives, they would have called me years before I even dreamt of leaving. They only spam called me when they realized that I wasn't going to be reaching out anymore, that I was moving on with my life. That I wasn’t going to wait on hand and foot for them to throw me a bone. The loss of control, or what they thought was control, that’s what they wanted. Not me.” (Name) spoke with a calmness that made Rung think that she had already accepted this a long time ago.
“And you’re ok with it?” Rung watched as (Name) pondered for a moment before answering.
“Not really, it sucks that the family I've known all my life all decided that I was worth ignoring up until the day I left. But I’ve come to accept that I wasn’t really worth anything to them. On the bright side, I have all of you. As I said, the lost light is like a second home to me, and I’m happy here.” Rung stared at her for a long moment, looking at her trying to figure out that she was really ok.
Again, she gave him no signs that she wasn’t unwell, or that she was in any kind of emotional pain. She was fine, completely fine.
“Now enough about me, Rung, I wanna hear about you and your ships. I’ve never seen anything like them and I wanna learn more.”
“It’s actually–” Rung paused, that was the first time someone got his designation right on the first try.
“Oh, I'm sorry. Is your name not Rung? I pulled it from the crew’s files and thought that was what your name was.”
“No, no! Th-that is my designation. It’s just the first time anyone has gotten it right.” (Name) looked at him curiously, and a little disappointed. Not at him, rather those around him.
“Really? It’s not a hard name to remember.” Rung agreed in exasperation.
“But enough about that, Rung, I wanna know about your bottled ships!”
—----------------------------------
Rung let out an ex-vent just as he slid the data pad back into place, just as his next patient knocked on his door.
“Come in!”
—----------------------
Day 4.
Swerve was absentmindedly cleaning an already clean glass when Skids gained his attention.
“You’ve been cleaning that glass for the past ten minutes, you sure you’re ok?” Skids asked, in slight concern even though he knew damn well why he was so down and lost. The whole ship was with (Name) being unconscious.
“Yeah, just… I miss the energy that (Name) brought to the bar, you know? She just had this way to brighten up a room. Not only that, I miss making drinks for her, it was a nice change from egenex. It was a good challenge, you know… a way to test my skills in making drinks…” Swerve hated that he was talking like (Name) had died, he knew that she was still alive. But, he felt so bleak.
He suddenly remembered the first drink that he had ever made for her.
—----------------------------
“Hey there! I heard that this was a place where someone could get a good drink?” Swerve’s gaze snapped over to see (Name) sitting at the bar, having somehow climbed up onto the bar table. There were other bots around, but mostly they were sitting at booths. (Name) was the only one sitting at the bar.
“OH!” (Name) was slightly taken aback at the sudden yelp.
“I mean, yes! Yeah, I serve drinks here. I actually had some specialty ordered human drinks brought in. I’ve been itching to try and make some human drinks. So you’ll be my test dummy of sorts. Not that I think of you as a test subject! You’re a fellow crew mate and I totally see you as an equal and–” (Name) cut him off with both her hands raised.
“Woah, woah! Slow down there Swerve, I trust that you're not going to try and poison me. No need to defend yourself.” Swerve rubbed the back of his helm and gave the woman a sheepish smile.
“Sorry about that, if you couldn’t tell, I talk a lot, annoyingly so. Hell, my nickname back at the autobot boot camp was ‘shut the hell up’” (Name)’s face dropped at that and Swerve immediately backtracked.
“Well… I mean, I can be annoying with my ramblings and it was just a friendly little joke amongst fellow trainees! Really that’s all! Anyways let me make you a drink!” (Name) could tell that swerve was ready to move one and decided that she should just follow his lead.
“Alright then, I'd like a porn star martini.” Swerve's optics widened behind his visor.
“Wow, you don’t play around. Let me see what I can do.” (Name) watched as the mini bot mass displaced and was running around and grabbing a few bottles and starting making the drink.
When he was finished, he handed the drink off to (Name) who then took a long sip. He watched with anticipation as she savored the flavor.
“Swerve, this is amazing!” (Name) praised, allowing Swerve to relax.
“Oh good, I’m glad you like it. I was a bit worried that I would have messed it up somehow. This was my first attempt at making something like that.” (Name)’s eyes blew wide at the admission.
“Really? This is amazing! I’d love to try more of what you can make!”
—--------------------------------------------------
It was from that point on that both (Name) and swerve became close friends, she was a drink he made for her and he would try to make more and more complex drinks.
“She’ll be back soon, she’ll wake up and she’ll be back to her old self.” Swerve told himself, returning to cleaning the same glass.
—--------------------------------
Day 6.
Ambalon was giving (Name) a sponge bath, knowing that she would rather wake up clean then covered in sweat and the strange sludge that she had been purging from her system. It was odd, her body hasn’t been going through the usual process of waste disposal. She’s just been purging throughout the week.
Himself, and both Ratchet and First Aid, theorized that her purging the strange honey like substance was her body’s new way of disposing of waste, but after running multiple tests they had found that the sludge doesn’t contain any trace of the water and nutrients.
They don’t know what it was. They ended up sending some of the samples to both Proceptor and Brainstorm to see if they could figure anything out.
The medic gritted his denta in frustration, pausing his gentle scrubbing. She had been so kind and understanding of him and his past. She was so quick to point out his own self deprecating ways to try and put a stop to it, even though she barely even knew him. She cared so much, even though she had no reason to.
—-----------------------------------
“It’s not the alt mode that makes the bot, it’s who the bot is that makes the bot.” Ambalon turned his attention to the sick human that he had been tasked to take care of. (Name) had ended up catching a cold while visiting a planet that was safe for her to step foot on. Out of all the planets in the universe, she caught a cold on the first new world she was able to step foot on, go figure.
“What was that?” (Name), who had a cold compress on her forehead rolled her eyes with a small smile.
“What you transform into you doesn’t change who you are as a person, you’re still an amazing doctor.” (Name) explained. Ambalon resisted the urge to roll his optics at that. She knew that his permanent alt mode was forced onto him, and had mentioned it to her when they had first met. Since then she had been trying to remind him how that doesn’t change who he was as a medical professional.
“Oh yeah? Who would take someone who turns into a leg seriously? I have the world’s worst alt mode. I’m just a failed guinea pig.” (Name) was silent for a moment, and Ambalon took that as a sign that she had nothing to say to that. He had turned back to documenting the woman’s condition when she spoke up once more.
“I take you seriously…Only those with their heads up their asses wouldn’t take you seriously.” Ambalon’s optics widened slightly at that. He turned his attention back to (Name) who had a serious look on her face.
“Really, I do. You have so much more experience as a medic for cybertronians then I would ever dream of having. Not only that, you know very little about human biology, and yet you work so hard to learn everything you can to take care of me. You’ve been mistreated and beaten down and yet you still work so hard. That’s respectable, and I have so much respect for you.” (Name) paused, letting Ambalon take in what she had to say.
“So yes, I do take you seriously. I will always take you seriously. You are an equal member of this crew and I won’t stand by and let you think otherwise.” Ambalon stood there for a few moments in silent shock, just staring at her. Her eyes never wavered, she held his gaze even though she was sick.
“I…” He couldn’t say anything more to that. He felt this light and fluttering feeling in his spark, when he realized that she was being serious. She did take him seriously, saw him as a proper medic, a proper bot. She didn’t see him as ‘just a leg for a failed combiner experiment’, she saw HIM.
“Thank you… I needed to hear that…” (Name) smiled, before letting out a wet cough and started coughing into her elbow. He was immediately by her side, checking to make sure that she was alright. Once she was finished, she turned her head to meet his gaze.
“Heh… Still not in tip top shape. I leave my health to your capable servos, Doctor Ambalon.”
—------------------------------
Ambalon let out an ex-vent as his gaze traveled up to (Name)’s face. It was so unnerving and upsetting seeing someone who was usually such a ray of sunlight in this kind of state. She didn’t deserve this, she didn’t deserve what happened to her.
“Mark my words, (Name). I will do whatever I can to help you, I will heal you.”

Day 7, the final hours before (Name)’s awakening.
“We flew past this amazing star cluster! You would have loved to have seen it!” Tailgate reminisced, talking to still unconscious (Name). He went on and on about what had happened the previous days, just as Cyclonus entered the room.
“Tailgate? It’s time to leave.” The mini bot turned his attention to his lover before turning back to (Name).
The tarp she had had long since been replaced with a (favorite color) sheet gifted by Drift. Her head rested on a soft, (favorite color) pillow that was gifted by Nauctia, she was surrounded by several stuffed animals that were gifted by Fort Max on one of his visits. A vase of giant (Favorite flowers) gifted by Ultra Magnus. There was even a collection of all (Name)’s favorite literature compiled onto a single data pad that sat next to the vase of flowers gifted by Megatron.
She was so loved on the ship, he didn’t know a single bot on board who didn’t like her. Even though he was a bit much, and a bit annoying sometimes, she was so sweet and nice to him. He thought back to when the two first met.
—------------------------------------------------
“Oh wow! The human ambassador!” (Name) turned around to see a mini-bot practically run up to her. (Name) stumbled back a bit in shock as the bot bent down to get a better look at her.
“I still can’t believe just how small you humans are, it’s not very often that I get to meet with someone smaller than me!” He grabbed her from underneath her arms and lifted her up into the air, and stood up to his full height. (Name) let out a startled gasp as Tailgate looked her over in fascination.
“Oh wow, you’re so soft and squishy!” The bot commented, gently squeezing her body in fascination.
“Uh… Hi, I’m (Name) it’s nice to meet you!” (Name) introduced herself watching as the mini-bot shifted her around in his grasp, annalizing her form. The woman relaxed in his grasp, realizing that he was just curious about her and that he wasn’t trying to bring her harm.
“I’m Tailgate, It’s a pleasure to meet you (Name)!” Tailgate greeted, just as he placed her back on the ground. (Name) smiled at the almost child-like glee from the bot before her. It was adorable just how curious he was.
“I look forward to working with you, Tailgate, I can’t wait for us to get to know each other better!” Tailgate swiftly agreed just as another bot approached.
“Tailgate, there you are. I’ve been looking all over for you.” The larger bot spoke, looking down at Tailgate and (Name). The woman looked up and waved at the larger bot, who awkwardly waved back.
“Oh Cyclonus! This is the human ambassador (Name).” Tailgate introduced Cyclonus to (Name), before turning back to human woman.
“(Name), this is my Conjux Cyclonus, he’s the most amazing bot around!” (Name) held back a giggle as she watched Cyclonus’ face turn pink at the praise.
(Name) eyed the taller bot, he seemed to be the strong quiet type, someone who had the tendency to stick to himself. Her gaze shifted to Tailgate, he was a bit naive and seemed to lack social cues, she could tell that he was an absolute ray of sunshine. The two looked to be polar opposites, but from what she could tell they had a healthy relationship.
“It’s nice to meet you, Cyclonus, I look forward to working with you and I hope that we can get along well!” The larger bot relaxed under her warm gaze and nodded in agreement.
“I look forward to it as well”
—------------------------------------------------------
“I know… I was just letting (Name) know what happened so far. I like to think she can hear me, I mean, Megatron reads to her every day” Cyclonus ex-vents, his gaze shifted from his Conjux to (Name). His optics hardened upon looking at her unconscious form.
He had so much respect for her, not only was she kind and treated everyone around her as an equal, but her own intuition was something to take into consideration. she was the first one to have suspicions about Getaway, just based on a single glance.
Her mistrust in him is what saved everyone on the ship from his plan to overthrow both Rodimus and Megatron.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“I don’t like it, I don’t like it one bit!” Cyclonus overheard, watching as worried (Name) pace back and forth underneath the twinkling stars from the observation deck, biting the nail of her thumb. He was on a stroll when he overheard the woman talking to herself.
“Everything about that guy drives me up a wall, he’s plotting something, I know it!” (Name) muttered. Curious, Cyclonus approached, gaining the woman’s attention.
“Who are you talking about?” (Name) hesitated for a moment before letting out a sigh.
“Getaway he’s– Ugh! Everything about him is wrong to me! He’s up to something, but I don’t know what!” (Name) explained.
This was odd, (Name) has never expressed mistrust towards anyone. This was someone who can get along with anyone, even Whirl is close friends with her. The fact that she is suspicious of Getaway puts him on edge.
“What about him is making you feel like this, did you see something?” Cyclonus kneeled down as the woman approached.
“No it– I don’t know how to explain it. I just get a bad feeling from him! It feels like he’s constantly plotting and scheming, I feel like he’s up to something, something big.” (Name) explained, hoping that the bot would believe her.
The bot pondered for a moment, she gave him no reason not to trust her, he quite liked her. She got along well with Tailgate and had everyone’s best interest at heart.
“I’ll keep an optic on him, you’re not the type to start conflicts over nothing. If you truly believe that he’s plotting something, I will do what I can to help. I trust your judgement.” (Name) let out a sigh of relief and smiled at the bot.
“Thanks, hopefully we can put a stop to whatever he’s planning” (Name) spoke.
Sure enough, he had caught Getaway trying to form an alliance with Atomizer and overheard their plan to seize control of the ship. He was quick to inform both Rodimus and Megatron, and successfully stopped the two from what they were planning. From that day forward, if (Name) had a bad feeling about anyone, he would be cautious of them as well.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
He resisted the urge to chuckle, as he remembered (name) throwing her hoverscooter at Getaway after both he and Atomizer were being sent back to cybertron. So much rage in such a tiny body.
Megatron had to pick her up to stop her from throwing something else. Watching her being carried away while calling Getaway a ‘backstabbing loser with a god complex’ was something that he wouldn’t forget.
“You ok Cy?” Tailgate was looking at him curiously, bringing the former terracon out from his memories.
“I’m fine, just remembering how much I trust her judgement” Cyclonus answered.
“You mean with the whole Getaway thing? Yeah, I remember when both him and Atomizer were sent back to Cybertron. I don’t think I’ve ever seen her that angry at anyone before.” Tailgate got up from where he was sitting as Cycolus lead his lover out front he room.
“And you never will, you’d never do anything to trigger her wrath” Tailgate laughed just as Ratchet walked in and tended to (Name)’s body.

Here is what I have so far. I hope to add a few more characters to the list. I do plan on adding Optimus’ own crew to the fic, at least some of them. And I plan on adding starscream at some point.
I will also be editing the introductions to fix some things up, so stay tuned for that. See you all when I post next!
