My daughter (18F) won't talk to me because I (44M) told my wife (41F) about her medical history/conditions?
I (44M) have an 18 year old daughter with my late wife. My daughter has a number of health conditions and most of those have been diagnosed since early childhood like her asthma. My late wife died when she was 5 and I started dating my wife (41F) 5 years after the passing of my first wife. We married when my daughter was 13. Because my wife was going to be helping take care of my daughter I told her about my daughter's health issues. My daughter didn't like that I told my wife. She told me it was none of my wife's business and the decision should have been 100% hers what she was told. I explained to my daughter my reasons for telling my wife but she said none of it mattered because it was none of my wife's business and she was not okay with her knowing. She made it very clear she did not want my wife involved in any level of her medical care including attending appointments or being part of discussions. I respected this but she has held it against both of us ever since and once she turned 18 she moved into her aunt's house and shut me out. I got one text after explaining that she was not okay with me telling my wife and my wife knowing and she said she did not want to talk to me. I told my daughter I was sorry this angered her so much and I wanted to work on things but I would accept her boundaries and leave the door open. She has not been in touch in months and I have let her aunt know a couple of times that I'd love to hear from my daughter but there's still nothing. I have no idea what to do. My daughter's babysitters all knew when she was younger because if she was in their care they needed to and my daughter never had an issue. My wife was in charge at times and my daughter was in her care while I wasn't around so I felt she needed to know too in case of an emergency but I never expected her to react like this. I have no idea what to do from here or if there's anything I can do.
Your daughter knows how to find you. You don't need to remind her.
How about getting some therapy and processing this and ensuring you do any self-improvement that could be doing?
