This is the intro to R.A.W aka @og6blocc's set @respectdnb around 2002 when it was at the Martini Lounge on Melrose (by Paramount Studios). R.A.W followed a blazin set by @crazearoni and dropped one of the sickest sets I've seen in my life. What made the LA jungle scene (and rave culture) so dope back then is hip-hop mixing tricks were incorporated, rockin doubles of 180bpm breakbeats, juggling cutting and scratching underground sounds into alien soundscapes. Jungle/DnB heads were an extension of hip hop and just like bboying and graff, DJing was very competitive and reputations were built by being the best. You never knew what you were going to see and that added to the freshness and excitement of the music. No one could rock the #junglizm like R.A.W. and he's still blowing minds to this day!
