Last night was AMAZING. One of the best dnb events I’ve ever been to. The music was fantastic and I danced for about 4 hours of it.

Fun times at Steve’s gig on Wednesday. Our whole crew played the entire evening’s time slots and I had a really good time (mostly, I kind of hit a wall around 1 am).

Steve had to convince me to wear this bodysuit out in public. When I bought it, I assumed I would wear it with a skirt, although the models at Neo4ic wear it with nothing but thigh high tights. (And, to be fair, I also bought a black one that I will in fact wear with a skirt to Steve’s gig at Meow Wolf in September).

But I thought, what better place to have fun wearing it than this particular venue - super relaxed but also rave-y. Lots of people show up in skimpy stuff there on Fire Night. So I went for it. I was hesitant to get out of the car at first lol but after about an hour I was happy I did it. I got so many compliments on it, too - almost all from other women. 🥰

Sunday was not the best night for me. I had fun until about 11:30 but then I hit a wall, hard, and sat in the car reading my book for a while. The last hour I went back in, but kind of holed up in the corner behind the decks. And when we were packing up, I actually snapped at our crew mates.

Some of it was social battery dying, a lot of it was just exhaustion. Lots of miles and strength training and the gig all night on Friday - on only 22 hours of sleep in 4 days. I got 9 hours last night and don't even feel completely recovered.

Friday: our whole crew (our three DJs - Steve, Eric, Adrian, and our MC - Denzil) got booked at a new (open 9 months) venue called Insomnia, only 15 minutes from our house! We are normally the ones driving 45-60 minutes to gigs/venues so this was kind of amazing LOL.

It's totally a rave space, although the owner said she also does metal shows there a couple times a month. The sound system is TOP NOTCH (Funktion One, for anyone who would even know what that means). Lighting and visuals were super professional. Well lit and safe. The owner made chili for the staff that night pre-opening and she left the big pots of it out (with tons of chips) for guests for free until it ran out. Plenty of tables and chairs. An actual (free!) full size pool table with good cues and chalk. And a layout that just felt right.

Like, I was super comfortable there. I'm older and I am sober and for me to be really comfy hanging out somewhere these days... it's saying a lot. And considering how close to home it is, I hope we can book more nights here. Maybe ask them if we can do one of our larger (UK DJ) shows here.
