He feels you shift in the bed, your wince already noticed by the alpha whose eyes fly open the moment he senses your distress. His hand reaches across to touch your belly, to run his hand along your bump as he feels you beneath his palm.

“What is it? Are you okay?” Johnny is speaking from the other side of you, suddenly just as awake as Simon is. Though Simon is silent, Johnny is verbalizing his concern. “Is it the baby? Is it time?”

“Braxton hicks contractions,” you wince when you feel another one hit high on your abdomen, “practice labour they call it.”

“Do we need to go to the hospital?” Johnny’s already sliding out of the bed, naked and searching for the clothes he discarded on the floor. “Is the baby okay?”

“Relax,” Simon speaks to both you and Johnny as he runs his hand along your baby belly, from top to bottom, “it’s not real labour.”

“Practice labour,” Johnny’s stumbling as he tries to slip on his boxers, still attempting to get dressed, “means the real ones coming right?”

“No Soap,” Simon shifts his hand again, thing time following the motion of your kicking baby, “it’ll go away soon. Get back in bed.”

“Or,” you shifted to lay on your side, looking over at Johnny who still didn’t seem to believe your words, “could you grab something from the kitchen?”

He finally lets it sink in that you’re fine, that the contractions aren’t much to worry about. And as soon as the tension leaves his shoulders, Johnny exhales and runs a hand through his hair.

“2 am snacks for us all.” He leans over the bed, pecking your lips softly yet tenderly. “I’ll grab ya whatever you want, bonnie.”
