ben with his anger around dean is so interesting to me because the things that he is angry about (re: leaving, erasing his memories, putting his family in danger) are the same damn things that ben will turn over himself, and hate himself for as well.

ben is definitely at war with himself when it comes to dean because the same things he wants to condemn him for, ben now understands on a hauntingly intimate level now that he has suffered at the hands of something supernatural stealing his mom away. he would often say to himself, "just show up and stay and have dinner with a family who loved you, how hard could that have been?" and now that he is neck deep in his own vicious supernatural cycle, there's a part of ben that realizes and finally gets it. dean couldn't have stayed with the braedens, because he wasn't built for that life, he was at war with himself, in a sense, ben feels like it probably would have been the thing that killed dean. to ask him to be something or someone that he's not, even if it was just a father figure for just a year.

so ben's anger starts to shift into confusion, what his own future holds, what it looks like, and how much it scares him that it's starting to look a lot like how dean showed up at their front door all those years ago.
