HAPPY BIRTHDAY FATEFUL!!!
can't believe today (7/15) is the third anniversary of the day i posted the first chapter!!!!! also absolutely wild how it aligned with the posting of the first look at Part 2 today, so my brain is exhausted from so much dopamine lmao. but i cannot believe it's been three years. this fic means sooooo much to meeee. the amount of love everyone continues to pour into it means the universe, you have no idea!!
in celebration of the anni, here's some random lore about og fateful (pre-posting, plotting/scheming/drafts of the first few chapters): before writing it, i thought it was going to be less than 50k words MAX. lmfao. wonder how that turned out. ALSO! during the initial plotting stage, i thought they were going to like each other immediately. finding him out in chapter 4? he was going to totally accept the interview. the initial interview that next chapter? it was going to be flirty. WILD. mar was going to be in on some shit. crane was going to have a… DIFFERENT role… RIDDLER was going to have a big role too. i don't even want to talk about the things in my drafts related to it BAHAHAHAHAAAA IT'S SO FUCKING FUNNYYYYYY. but as soon as i really dug dug duggggg into it and decided to make the story feel realistic to the world and bruce, it became immediately apparent what it needed to be!! all of the other stuff left in the dust!! and thus fateful as we know it was born!!
another detail... fateful beginnings was the first name i thought of that felt like it fit and i didn't even really think about it. i was like eh, that works! that fits the themes! no one will read it anyway! and i wrote it out on a whim and pressed submit. three years ago today!!! it also was originally posted to Wattpad, not ao3. July 15th for Wattpad, August for ao3… it was posted to tumblr almost an entire year later! there's so many random plot points that got immediately axed lmaooo. so much happened between the initial planning phase to the first chapter being posted... it feels like a lifetime ago!!!!!! have so much more to say just about how much i love this fic and so many decisions, writing stuff, but i'll keep it to this for now :) if anyone ever has any questions or curiosities about anything related to fateful, feel free to send an ask, comment, or dm (but I have adhd so it can take some time for me to respond sometimes!!!). but i could talk about it alllll daaaaay! i just love fateful. i love you all. i love the batman! i love batman! i love bruce wayne! i love matt’s take on bruce! i love the way rob portrays him! i love fandom! threeeee years of fateful nation!!!! more coming!!!! turning a corner!!!
