Of course Magneto is the type to get all philosophical on him.

It's simultaneously a disagreement and an agreement. He knows what his nature is. But, if it all came down to nature, there really wouldn't be a point in trying. Do enough good and maybe, someday, it could outweigh the bad, nature be damned.

But, they both know they have a long road ahead of them before the scales ever have a chance of tipping. They certainly aren't there yet.

But self still feels it necessary to remind selffriendManuel, while selfsoulfriendDoug and selffriendManuel both struggle in a fight... Self does not. And self will do whatever self determines self must if selfsoulfriendDoug is in danger.

But self understands selffriendManuel is far too intelligent to allow friendEmpath to become enemyEmpath. Self does not wish to behave in a threatening fashion! Self wishes to joyfully welcome selffriendEmpath to the rest of friendEmpath's life. In self's estimation, having selfsoulfriendDoug in one's life will demonstrably improve it."

This is… alarming. He doesn't really need the reminder that Warlock could take him down in a fight easily. He already knows, and relies heavily on sweet, naive, little Doug keeping his guard dog on a leash. But, Doug isn't here right now. Which can't be anything but bad news.

“I don't know what Doug's been teaching you about Earth culture, but he needs to teach you a little bit more!” It's rude to show up out of nowhere and threaten someone completely unprompted, right? This shit is so deeply fucking weird.

“Yeah, I'm so sure,” he rolls his eyes, as though he has no memory of the many many times his mouth has gotten him punched in the face. Those were outliers. Unlikely to happen again.

"What did you just do?”

“Don't need to explain myself to you,” he grumbles, eyeing the blond. It's very clear that he's been in a fight- Though his healing factor has cleaned up a good portion of the evidence, the blood still remains, as does the look in his eyes indicating that he's not in the mood to socialize.

Manuel is uncomfortable. It's a rare and unpleasant feeling. After all, there's little need to be on edge when the rest of the world is your dollhouse. People do what he wants them to do. Carmelo, however, doesn't.

The talking in his head is irritating enough- He'd rather the other man not talk to him at all. But, the idea that he could possibly do more than just talk makes him a threat. Manuel doesn't do well with being threatened.

“Fuck around with my head and it's going to be the last thing you do.”

Despite the circumstances, Manuel's instinct is always to believe that he's the most important person in the room. Carmelo is clearly seeking to manipulate him for a reason. Why else bother someone so important?

Manuel is, typically, not one to brew his own coffee. When you have money and power, it's simple to have someone weaker do it for you- whether via paying them, or by giving them the right motivation to cozy up to your good side.

Magneto isn't paying Manuel (thankfully, as a refund would be in order.) He didn't ask for the coffee at all, to be fair. But, Manuel presents it as an act of submission, all the same.

No one here seems to respect him on the virtue of being Emma Frost's favorite alone. But, if he can play his cards right… maybe being the favorite of multiple authority figures could win him some favor.

Unfortunately, Magneto doesn't seem on board with his plan. Ugh. Maybe he should've had someone else make the coffee and just stolen the credit for it.

Reflex is to sneak into Magneto's mind, to flood him with affection and gratitude since he clearly doesn't understand how this is supposed to go.

He holds back. Magneto knows him too well to not notice. He's only going to be able to use his powers on Magneto once, maybe twice, without repercussions. This isn't the hill he wants to die on.
