He should have expected it, really - he’d been growing closer to the pirate steadily, and there had always been something between them from the start that he’d never quite understood - but still, when it came, the kiss was a surprise. It took him a moment to respond, but when he did he all but melted against the other man, enjoying the soft, gentleness he would never have expected. A kiss from a pirate, he mused, ought to have been hard and hot.

But he didn’t have long to simply enjoy it. It wasn’t quite instantaneous, but it was close enough - a strange sensation washed over him, almost like a shiver down his spine, and as he pulled back from the kiss and blinked at the man before him, a sudden clarity came to his mind that hadn’t been there before. No longer was he staring at Captain Hook, the handsome pirate he had found himself drawn to for unknown reasons - instead he was looking upon the face of his beloved Leftenant Killian Jones, seeing him for the first time. How could he possibly have forgotten? 

It didn’t matter then that the last time he had knowingly seen this face, Killian had broken his heart with a rejection he hadn’t fully believed, or that he knew he hadn’t forgotten him by chance and there was clearly a connection between the two events - all that mattered was the simple fact that they were together again.

I’ve wanted to do that for three years. 

Killian knew that feeling less than happy for his daughter was selfish. He loved seeing her so happy and knowing that the person behind it would never be one to crush it. He had to watch her grow up from the sidelines, never allowed to get closer, to touch her, to hold her otherwise his poisoned heart would cause him such pain. It was a relief being able to come back from death thanks to the former Dark Oner to touch and hold his daughter, no longer watching from the sidelines and not being able to partake in her joy, her accomplishments, her pain and the need to have someone to confide in. 

When Robyn asked for his blessing to marry Alice, Killian felt no greater joy than knowing how happy Robyn would make his beloved daughter. In the days that followed after the proposal, it almost seemed that Alice was spending almost every waking moment with Robyn. He knew why, after all, but that didn't help matters on his end. They had just been reunited without such a dreadful curse keeping them apart and Killian wanted the chance to spend time with Alice. He wanted to get to know her instead of watching her grow up from afar. He wanted to listen to her talk about the things she was passionate about, the things that frustrated her, everything... Even though his poisoned heart had been mended, Killian was still finding himself watching Alice from a distance. 

"Alice." Killian forced a smile as he was off thinking about his daughter, not realizing the door had opened to their small apartment. "I didn't hear you come in."

Mary Margaret bit her lip and nodded, looking away from him feeling nothing but nerves on how he would react. She felt humiliated, scared. What am I going to do? “Yeah, I.. I am.” They weren’t trying and had been safe the majority of the time. She looked up at him and bit her lip, “James, please say something.”

“And what makes you think I even want to go back with you to your place?” Emma asked, crossing her arms as they exited the restaurant. “And are you really carrying condoms on you right now? Wow. You’re quite the confident guy.”

          Emma struggled in getting used to being around the son she gave up for adoption ten years ago. What turned into her dropping him off at his mother’s turned into her staying for a week, which turned into her making a permanent stay in the town as the new sheriff after Graham’s unexpected death. She sat in the station alone thinking about her past as her eyes focused quite heavily on the shoelace that once belonged to Graham around her wrist. She once lead a life of petty crime alongside Neal and now she was a sheriff working to keep the law and order of the small town. How ironic. She sighed and found herself desperately needing an escape as the walls of the station felt as though they were suffocating her. The town was too quiet for her liking and with her badge against the belt loop of her jeans, Emma decided to walk around the town to see how everyone was doing. She was not used to such a job where people looked up to her and being a mother, but he was thankful to have friends like Mary Margaret to reassure her. As she turned the corner she saw a young man approaching her. He looked as though something was... off, which made her wonder if he was alright. After all, she was the sheriff. Emma needed to be alert of her surroundings more than ever now.

“Hey.” Emma stopped once he was close to her and gave him a polite smile. “Your name’s Gaston, right? Are you okay? You don’t look so good.”

Emma felt terrible that she was the cause of such a divide in their marriage. They used to be so happy and in love until she accepted a new job, and never realized just how crazy her new boss was. All she wanted was for Killian to forgive her when she would ask, but already she could feel tears forming in her eyes before the words were even said. Emma looked up at him with her hand still on his chest and nodded.

Emma had always wanted to have a love story like her parents. She loved... love, the feeling of two people being in love and having their happy ending. She struggled to find the right person that respected her for the kind of person she was. Many only saw her as a princess they could marry to further their status, which Emma found to be an immediate deal breaker. 

No one could ever compare to her friend... to her knight, to someone who promised to protect Emma no matter what the cost. He was one of her true friends, someone she could confide in when things were hard, someone who would be honest with her when she didn't want to hear it. However, he was a knight and while she didn't care about the difference in rank and had no qualms about abdicating the throne to be with him, she didn't know how her parents would feel about her marrying a knight. It was a risk I would have taken anyway... because I loved him. 

But things changed. Emma needed to marry someone soon to give the people hope that despite their kingdom struggling, there could still be a happy ending and to give the people that hope through a royal marriage. She was forced into a courtship with a man who would soon be her husband, someone she despised the minute they met. Such hatred only grew when Emma soon became the victim of Prince Walsh's verbal and physical abuse.

Emma and Walsh were alone in the corridor where her back was against the wall, being subjected to Walsh's anger as he condemned her for having the audacity to correct him in front of her parents. Emma kept apologizing, tears falling down her cheeks, asking him not to hurt her... but his anger only grew. 

"Where do you think you're going?" Walsh prevented Emma from leaving by grabbing her arm and twisting it. 

Emma cried, gasping as she put her other hand on his chest in hopes of pushing away from him. "Please, stop! You don't have to do this. I won't do it again, Walsh. Please!"
