A nice flush of warmth coursed through her body, and Rhia buzzed from the plush of her lips to the tips of her painted toes. She held a bottle of tequila to her chest, one she’d brought herself for the sole purpose of draining it by the end of the night. It was the end of the semester; a meaningful enough rite of passage to justify drowning her sorrows in bitter-tasting regret.
She blinked back to Ollie, leaning over the counter and unknowingly missing the bulk of what he was explaining to her. Slightly embarrassed yet even more ashamed to ask him to explain again, she nodded her head and put on a polite smile. “Seriously? No way,” she swooned.
Rhia glanced around with an accusatory glare, suddenly restless and overly aware of how cramped it was. “Why is no one dancing?” she demanded. She gasped, reaching over and rapidly tapping the back of Ollie’s hand, like they weren’t already in the midst of conversation. “Should we dance? Do you wanna dance?” she sang, face bright with anticipation.
