i used to not really understand why people got upset seeing their favourite characters be criticised (because i love media analysis) but oh my god i get it now. every time there's untagged all might bashing in a fic i get so genuinely upset? like i saw where a fic was heading into bashing territory and audibly went "nooooo" and was grumpy for a solid 5 minutes.
i think its probably because, and im going to be really uncharitable here - all might bashing just doesn't make any sense. like it just doesn't. the vast majority of the things used to call him a bad person are either things all of the characters do or misunderstandings of the text (such as "AM should have warned deku abt afo" (he thought he was dead))
im sorry but i cant view all might bashing as anything other than coming from a place of bad faith. its usually almost always in service of pushing something else, such as dadzawa, and it blatantly ignores every good aspect of all might's character. all might isn't perfect, but that's what makes him so endearing to me - he's not SUPPOSED to be that perfect mentor figure, who passes on his wisdom and dies, he's a complicated mess of an old man and i love him for that
anyway if you're going to do AM bashing despite that for the love of god please tag it so i dont get sad ok? ok
my potentially most controversial take is that hayao miyazaki was like.. entirely right about anime
the no swearing rule in the conservative lu server is so fucking funny to me. people are allowed to spew misinformation, hatred, or just be incredibly confidently wrong (shoutout to the person who said intersex and non-binary were “basically the same”) but god FORBID someone swears! that’s bad language.

the older i get and the more i reflect on my life i think a lot of the adults in my life suspected neurodivergence but didn't say anything. i was in special ed classes multiple times and no one bothered to raise the question of whether it was something deeper? i had to be removed from classrooms because i used to scream at things and nobody bothered to mention to my parents that maybe this kid who screamed and sobbed over a snapped ruler should be tested for something? even my mums reaction to my teary-eyed admission that i was seeking an autism diagnosis was so nonchalalont. "oh, that would explain things" - it wasn't the shock of when I mentioned I thought I had ADHD, it was like she'd considered it before and already come to terms with it. why did no one say anything why did they let me suffer not knowing what was wrong with me. i never achieved a mask i can't truly relate to people who say their signs went undetected because they learned to mask early. people noticed. they just didn't care enough.
