In Over His Headboard
Pairing: Peter Parker x Michelle Jones (Spideychelle) Rating: E Word Count: 7560
This is a submission for the first day of Thotumn, organized by @spideysmjs!!! Todayâs prompt: Dirty Talk.
Summary: MJ learns that Ned's best friend went through a lot of backpacks as a teenager. And a lot of headboards as an adult.
MJ is very observant.
But thatâs old news.
The other O-word she lives her life by is âorganizedâ. In kindergarten, she rearranged everyoneâs cubby during naptime (without permission) to suit her precepts. As an adult, she keeps her books sorted by topic and, within that, by size. The handles of her measuring cups are perfectly aligned. The apartment that houses both the books and the measuring cups is tidy, full of furniture with secret built-in storage spaces, and fewer than five miles from the house in which she grew up. MJ has organized and reorganized her own space so many times that, even though her few good friends think itâs crazy, it explains why one of her passions is helping people move.
Packing boxes is a delight. Laying down rugs so that their straight edges are perfectly parallel to the walls thrills her. Helping someone determine exactly the correct lineup of toiletries in the cabinet under their bathroom sink is a religious experience. She doesnât express her joy in smiles or shrieks of excitement, but in her diligence. Sheâll be tucked quietly in the closet, ordering jeans by shade of blue, while the rest of the volunteer movers crack open a beer in the kitchen, calling it time for a well-earned break.
Lately, everyone in MJâs life has gotten disappointingly settled: her brother and his wife upsizing in suburbia for the baby on the way, her parents (who are finally coming down hard on not letting her shift their knickknacks around anymore), and Betty. Bettyâs engagedâso engagedâand simply made space for her fiancĂ© to move in with her, so MJ didnât get to assemble a single cardboard box. She still feels slightly betrayed.
When Betty calls and starts in about schedules and plans and photographer, MJ assumes theyâre about to go over more wedding details. But no, her friend informs her, the schedule involves the timed renting of a moving truck and the access date for a storage unit, the plans are whoâs lending a hand and with what, and the photographer is Nedâs friend and future best man, some guy named Peter. MJ forgets the name (and asks Betty for it again laterâday-of, as theyâre driving to the guyâs apartment building). Itâs a dull speck on the metaphorical diamond Betty has just held up to the light for her to inspectâwhatshisname needs people to help him move.
Before the pleasure of putting someoneâs possessions in just the right spot can commence, thereâs the grunt work. MJ understands and accepts this as a necessary evil. On the day of Nedâs friendâs move-in, she dresses in overallsâmultiple pockets for micro-organization on the flyâwith a cropped t-shirt underneath because there will, inevitably, be stairs and itâs July. Sheâs trying not to begin sweating too far in advance, limiting her anticipation to a foot jumping on the immaculate rubber foot mat of the passenger seat of Bettyâs car and a series of probing questions.
âDoesnât this guy have any friends?â
âHe has friends,â Betty assures her, being a responsible driver and keeping her eyes on the road, âjust not a lot of super close friends.â
âAnd the close friends he does have werenât available?â
âUmmâŠâ She concentrates on watching the pedestrian countdown light as they cross an intersection. âI think a bunch of them went with him to the storage unit to load up the truck. I guess they donât have the whole day off.â
âOh, unlike me, who has nothing better to do.â
âDonât get snippy. And donât pretend you wouldnât have begged to help if youâd heard me mention what I was doing today.â
MJ plays with the seatbelt strapped across her chest, feeling defensive. Itâs her go-to reaction whenever Betty reveals how clearly she sees her.
âI was just trying to figure out why I was asked.â
âNedâs his friend, Iâm Nedâs fiancĂ©e, and youâre my friend.â
âThe six degrees of Michelle Jones,â she mumbles.
âWhat?â
âNothing. He lives in Queens?â
âYeah, Peterâs local. He and Ned went to school together. Crazy, huh?â
âCrazy that you can travel the world and end up with a fiancĂ© and a circle of friends from your hometown,â MJ agrees. Today, Bettyâs in jean shorts and a beachy shirt that ties in a knot at the end of its row of iridescent buttons, but MJ mostly sees her on the news, looking as prim and expensive as a collectible doll. Sheâs a foreign correspondent for CNN, though sheâs reining in the foreign part now that sheâs living with Ned and about to get married.
âCrazy,â Betty repeats distractedly, making a perfect, tight turn into the belowground carpark next to the building bearing the address MJ wrote down two weeks ago. This is where the magic will happen.
The pile out and her friend beeps her fob to lock the car. She wants to take the elevator thatâll bring them up to the lobby, but MJ insists on trekking back up the ramp they drove down. It stretches her legs, a good warm up. As they emerge from the darkness of the lot and sun slices across their faces, she feels like sheâs walking into Disney World. They stand on the sidewalk and right as sheâs about to ask Betty when they guys are supposed to make an appearance, a U-Haul pulls up to the curb.
She sees the driverâs side door open and slam shut without seeing the driver, but Ned comes bounding down from the passengerâs side to hold his fiancĂ©eâs hands and give her a quick kiss on the forehead (theyâre so engaged), then three more guys fold themselves out of the tight back of the cab and hustle around to the rear of the truck. The coupleâs display of affection distracted MJ; she can only assume itâs the driver out of sight in the back, passing belongings down to his helpers, who swiftly stack them on the sidewalk near the front doors of the apartment building. Thereâs an array of boxes, then staggering steps as the guys navigate couches and mattresses out of the truck, racing against the inflexibility of the No Parking and No Idling signs on this street. If a bylaw stooge comes along, theyâre screwed. New Yorkâs street signs exist for the city to make money, not for the ease of citizens needing to unload their furniture.
The guyâsâPeterâsâfriends are surprisingly quick, so MJ lets the speech she was mentally writing to argue in favour of his right to park the truck in front of the building heâs moving into dissolve in her head. Peter hops down from the back of the truck. From where she and Betty are standing, she can only see his legs and hear the clang of the rear door closing. The trio of extra helpers clamber back into the U-Haul with the intent and discipline of clowns into a clown car and wheel off to return the truck. MJ finally sees the man sheâs come to help as he brushes his hands together and steps quickly onto the curb to avoid another car angling into the carpark. He shakes hair off his forehead and squints towards them, sun in his eyes, already smiling.
âUm, hello,â MJ hisses at Betty, quickly turning to her. âWere you going to mention that your fiancĂ© is best friends with Spider-Man? Thatâs Peter fucking Parker.â
âAnd Iâm Betty fucking Brant,â she counters breezily. Sheâs looking past MJ, waving at Peter. âIâm on the news more than he is and you donât freak out when you see me.â
âIâm not freaking out.â
âHey!â
MJ spins to look into the eyes of a municipalâno, a nationalâno, an international hero. She doesnât say anything fast enough, so he moves past her to hug Betty before coming back to her with eyebrows raised in what looks like a mixture of inquiry, politeness, and gratitude.
âMichelle?â
âBut my friends call meââ
âMJ,â he finishes for her, and normally that would be irritating, but Peter Parker is endearingly boyish close-up. Heâs shorter than she is. Heâs freckled. He does look like somebody she couldâve gone to school with and had a low-key crush on for years and years. The fame canât touch that, which is why, she figures, his hero-next-door schtick works so well for him. Heâs local, like Betty said. Every bit of him sells that and itâs obvious that heâs not trying.
âAnd yours call you Spider-Man?â
Might as well get that out in the openâthat she recognizes him. He laughs easily and glances down.
âNah, pretty much just âPeterâ. âPeteyâ if they either really want to make me suffer or they really like me.â
He gives her a look and itâs brief, but thereâs a lot to it. The propositioning tilt of the head, the wolfish curl of the smile, the assessing cut of his eyes to catch her from the corner of his vision. MJ gets a strong sense that âreally like meâ is a euphemism for âenjoy me sexually.â
âWeâll see how I feel once weâve moved all your shit upstairs, I guess,â she responds flatly.
âThat sounds fair.â His voice is bright now, no lurking depravity. âI hope I donât have enough boxes to make you hate me.â
âPlease. Boxes are nothing. Iâd be more worried about that dresser turning me against you. What is that thing made of?â
âSolid oak,â he brags, then grimaces. âIt sucked just lifting it onto the truck.â
âCanât you justâŠâ MJ mimes the motion Spider-Man does when he shoots that gunk at people and buildings.
âLift the furniture up to my building with web fluid?â Peter crosses his arms and looks like heâs really calculating it in his head. âWouldnât be graceful. Iâd probably smash some windows if I tried to do it from outside, and doing it from inside wouldnât be that much easier than just carrying it up the stairs. Also, thatâd attract a lot of attention and everything I do doesnât need to make the news, you know?â
âOh yeah,â she agrees dryly. âI hate it when Iâm just grocery shopping and thereâs a whole camera crew right in my face.â
He laughs at her sarcasm. Appealing.
âRight?â
And then they have to scurry to catch up because Ned and Betty have already started moving everything into the lobby.
After itâs all inside and not available to be swiped by anyone walking or driving down the street, they decide to take turns carrying stuff up to the fourth floor. (Fourth? MJ could swear she was told second.) One person stays with the remainder of Peterâs stuff while the other three lug boxes and chairs and, eventually, the dreaded oak dresser. Sheâs too focused on maintaining a brisk pace to really check out his apartmentâbeyond noting the large windows and protruding edge of the kitchen countertop (that catches her in the stomach while sheâs squeezing around a box Ned left too close to the front door). It wouldnât matter. Layout and organization havenât been much on her mind since Peter Parker stepped out from behind that truck.
This process isnât supposed to be a spectacle, but people notice Peter, and Peter, ever the neighbourhood Spider-Man, notices people.
A man exiting through the lobby nods towards Peterâs desk and starts a conversation about materials and quality. MJ almost trips up the stairs with a box in her arms as she hears him say, âYeah, Iâve got more wood than I know what to do with.â Betty, on her way down, catches her eye and gives her a funny look.
âYouâre sweating.â
âItâs hot,â she fires back.
Nedâs above, guiding one end of the couch, and Peter and MJ are heaving the other (mostly Peter) when a different dude narrowly gets past them on a landing, only to turn around and remark on the wonder of them being able to maneuver it. âItâs long,â Peter agrees, âbut Iâve fit this thing into some pretty tight places.â Right after, he asks MJ if she needs a break. Sheâs fine. She only almost dropped her corner of the couch because her hand cramped.
As sheâs taking a final box through the door of his apartment, she overhears, âIâll let him choose the position. What do I know? Iâm happy to put it anywhere. The only thing I can be trusted to be in charge of is making sure itâs well-hung.â Stumbling forward, she sees that Peter (who just spoke) and Betty are admiring a large, framed print of him and Ned in cap and gown, clutching diplomas. MJ grabs a bottle of water from the case they carried up here at the beginningâitâs lukewarm, but practically glacial compared to the temperature of her face right nowâand asks her friend if she wants to step outside to get a little air before they continue.
Leaning against the wall of the building, MJ chugs some of her water, then hands it off to Betty. While her friendâs drinking, she says, âSo, heâs gay, right?â
Betty catches the water that slops down onto her chin.
âWhat?â
âPeter. Heâs gay.â
âIâve seen him with guys when weâve all gone to the bar togetherââ
MJ breathes deeply in relief. She needs him to be gay; the knowledge will quell how she feels when he utters these outrageous, completely explainable sentences, or when he walks ahead of her up the stairs and sheâs forced to stare at his ass for four floors, or when she remembers that look he gave her before they started moving everything.
ââbut Ned mentioned a serious girlfriend Peter had in high school, so I think heâs bi. Oh my god,â Betty adds in a tone of realization that scares the hell out of MJ. âYou want him.â
It takes rapid backtracking and a convincing presentation of the facts (those being every suggestive thing Peterâs said today and leaving out the part about his ass) to wipe the excited look off her friendâs face.
âSo, youâve just been misunderstanding him. And eavesdropping.â
âCan we call it eavesdropping if he has nothing to hide?â
âFine,â Betty says, rolling her eyes. âItâs not eavesdropping because he has nothing to hide. Iâve known him almost as long as Iâve known Ned and, yeah, he might have an entire second identity, but the guyâs an open book. Peter couldnât be sly if his life depended on it. Heâs a goof, MJ. Heâd never say that kind of stuff for real.â
Except that they hike back up to the apartment together and Peterâs voice drifts into the kitchen from one of the rooms down the hall, making the women halt and lock eyes.
âRemember how many backpacks May bought you in high school?â Ned chuckles. âThis reminds me of that.â
âI do go through a lot of headboards. Iâm not trying to break them, but I always put my legs into it too much and I just go so deep.â
âThe room,â Betty babbles next to her, gripping her wrist. âIâm sure heâs talking about the depth of the room, coming in through the window too quickly from patrol.â
âItâs easy for you to tell yourself that,â MJ points out. âYouâre engaged. You have no reason to think about Peter like that.â
Ned emerges and heads straight for Betty. These two are so gross together that neither of them protests against being hugged, though theyâre sweaty from labour. With his arm around her friendâs waist, Ned turns to address MJ.
âAre you hanging around for a while?â
âYeah, definitely. I can help unpack,â she pledges.
âGreat. I know Peterâd like to get curtains put up for privacy today too, because, you know, being Spider-Man and having all these windows donât really go well together, and youâre the tallest. Heâll probably want your help.â
Sheâd rather be assigned the task of choosing which kitchen cupboard will hold his plates, his glasses, the cans of premade soup she imagines Spider-Man relies on when heâs always darting around at night, too busy to devote a lot of time to making dinner. But sheâs here to help. Itâs not her apartment; sheâll go where she can be useful (any maybe do some sneaky rearranging later if he makes dumb organizational choices).
âBabe,â Ned says to Betty, âIâm going on a beer runâand maybe tacos, do you feel like tacos?âdo you wanna come with me?â
âOf course, babe, but I donât wantâŠâ
She looks at MJ, whoâs trying to be inconspicuous, sorting the boxes labelled âKITCHENâ from those labelled âLIVING ROOMâ.
âOne sec,â Betty tells her fiancĂ©, walking over to MJ. âWill you be alright here if we go out for food?â
âMhmm.â
Without glancing over, she plucks the X-Acto knife from her overall pocket and slices through packing tape to reveal nested pans, cloaked in mismatched dishtowels to prevent scraping during transport. The combination of careful and slapdash makes her smile to herself.
âItâs rush hour now, so Iâm not sure how long weâll be,â Betty warns.
âThatâs fine.â
âI think we all need a little fuel before we settle in to unpack.â
âYeah.â
âMJ,â her friend says sharply.
âWhat?â
âAre you ok being alone with Peter for a while?â
âYes,â MJ says, rolling her eyes. âHeâs Nedâs best friend and heâs Spider-Man, not some random creep. Iâm not afraid heâs going to jump me. Anyway, I have this.â She waggles the knife.
âIâm more worried about you jumping him.â
She narrows her eyes at Betty.
âHave a little respect for my self-control.â
Her friend just shrugs.
âIâd understand. Thereâs the allure of him being a superhero and, more importantly, the fact that Ned and I can both vouch for him being a genuinely great guy.â
MJ narrows her eyes even more, this time in suspicion.
âIs this a moving day or a blind date?â
âOh please.â
âThatâs not an answer. Betty,â she presses, but her friend turns and grabs Nedâs hand. The wave as they leave the apartment is mockingly innocent.
Alone, MJ darts a glance down the hall, where she knows Peter is still doing whatever in the bedroom. Sheâs not going to race in there like some glassy-eyed fangirl. Even if Betty does endorse him so warmly, and he does seem so down-to-earth, and his ass does look like that in his jeans. She lifts his cookware out, one piece at a time, then moves on to the tangled jumble of utensils in the next box, trying to separate a pair of tongs from a warped spatula. She doesnât hear Peter walk into the kitchen.
âHey,â he says suddenly from behind her.
MJ jumps and holds up the tongs threateningly, but her hand falls as she stares at him. Heâs wiping sweat from his neck with the hem of his navy t-shirt. There are his abs and the taut skin below his navel.
âIf you have a minute, could you give me a hand with this rod? I canât get it up on my own.â
Her gaze springs up to his face and she stares at him.
âHuh?â
âThe⊠curtain rod?â Peter says. âI can stand on a chair to do the one end, but I canât do both ends at once. Do you think you couldââ
âYeah, sure.â
His smile is pleasant and relieved and MJ follows him into the bedroom like he hit her with some sort of magic spell, not just artless, unintentional dirty talk. She sets the tongs down on the floor by the wall; whoops.
âWarm in here,â she notes as she sidesteps a clear plastic tote of Peterâs clothes.
âYeah, I was gonna open the window, but I didnât know if the humidity would only make it worse.â
MJ watches as he gestures with one hand and props the other on his hip, hiking up his t-shirt to hook his thumb in the waist of his jeans. She encourages him to go ahead and risk it. The space is unbearable without at least the illusion of fresh air. She redoes her drooping ponytail, feeling new sweat slide down the nape of her neck as Peter crouches and jerks the window up from its sticky sill. Her gaze, and possibly her mind, gets lost somewhere in the breadth of his shoulders. His triceps look as hard and as perfectly rounded as the rolling pin that was still in the box when she left the kitchen. Emptying her chest pocket of odds and endsâknife, scissors, permanent marker, Allen keyâMJ unbuckles her overalls, letting the straps and the bib hang down. The buttons on the hips keep the pants part up, but she canât stand to have the whole thing closing her in any longer. She canât breathe.
They each take an end of the curtain rod and Peter uses his knees to climb onto his nightstand, already positioned against the wall. Itâs overkill because heâs not that much shorter and MJ can hook her end into the bracket without even having to get up on her toes. Sheâs done first and turns to look at Peter, kneeling on the nightstand with his thighs apart. She pictures joining him on that narrow surface, straddling his lap. God. How long have Betty and Ned been gone?
Then again, why fight it?
âHaving some trouble getting it in?â she asks.
The rod clunks against the wall as Peter whips his head around to look slightly down at her.
âYour rod,â MJ clarifies. âYou want me to take over? I can handle it.â At his continued dumbstruck silence, she goes on. âOr I can just direct you from here. You could try working it back and forth a little until you get the perfect angle. Then Iâm sure itâll ease right in.â
He hardly seems aware when the curtain rod falls into place. After a few extra moments of immobility, he dismounts and swishes the semi-sheer curtain across the window. She can feel his eyes on her, tracing the strip of stomach between the bottom of her crop-top and the folded-over denim of her overalls.
âWhatâs next?â she asks. âMaybe go into the bathroom and investigate the plumbing? Or, you know what, I didnât finish unpacking your utensils. Would you rather go back to the kitchen and get your hands on my box?â
âWhat are you doing?â
It sounds like his chest is tight, like heâs forcing the words out. MJ smiles gently at the real-life superhero into whose apartment she has miraculously been deposited for today and perhaps only today.
âHelping.â
âDid you have to call it handling my rod?â
âDid you have to tell me you couldnât get it up without me?â she challenges.
Peterâs mouth falls open and he makes a choked sound of protest, but she raises her eyebrows at him, daring him to argue.
âYou asked me for a hand with your rod,â MJ presses. âThat was you. You started it. And it wasnât even then, it was hours ago. What is there in this apartment that you havenât made some sort of phallic reference to?!â
âI⊠did I? Iâve been doing that?â
âDonât play dumb with me, Spidey. Own it or donât, but donât pretend you havenât heard some of the shit youâve said today.â
âAre you offended?â he asks, avoiding her eyes, but not her body; he takes his time staring at that.
âI might be if you donât do anything about it,â she huffs. âIâd hate to think that Spider-Manâs all words and no action.â
âIâm off-duty.â A sly smile.
âWe can just talk,â MJ says casually, thinking that sheâll possibly die of heat exhaustion and unresolved sexual tension if they stand around chatting. âWhy donât you tell me how Spider-Manâs managed to crack so many headboards?â
He shoots her the same kind of look he gave her on the sidewalk.
âIt wasnât always Spider-Man.â
She smirks and gives him a look of her own.
âThen why donât you show me?â
Itâs the honesty in his expression that she appreciates as Peter surges towards her, grabbing her face between both hands and kissing her urgently. She grips his waist and scrunches his t-shirt in her hands. At the first little pause they take to snatch a breath, she peels the shirt up and he yanks it off the rest of the way.
âNice,â she breathes, stroking his torso with her gaze before adding her hands.
He gives her a jerky nod of acknowledgement and goes for her shirt. Tugging it off screws up her ponytail again, but she doesnât have time to care; Peterâs kissing her, wet and demanding, while he reaches around and fumbles to unhook her bra. When he nudges his hips against her, she feels him. Heâs been making sideways insinuations about his dick all day (whether he admits it to her or not), and hereâs the real deal at last. MJ presses her tongue slickly into his mouth, eyelashes fluttering at the urge to open her eyes and see what kind of face heâs making to accompany the groan he lets out as she deepens the kiss. As he draws the straps of her unfastened bra down her arms, she regretfully takes her hands off his chest, swiftly unbuttoning her overalls. Left side buttons, then right. Peter hampers her by grabbing her ass and rolling his hips forward as sheâs trying to get her pants down. She doesnât discourage him. Itâs thrilling that heâs handsy.
The roomâs a messânot dirty, thankfully, and she assumes he mustâve come on another day to vacuum and clean, but with a short, uneven stack of boxes in one corner, the container of clothing, the box spring and mattress leaning together against the wall, and the headboard, poking out of the closet because he hasnât put his bedframe together yet. MJ hates disorganization, especially when it fucks with the logistics of what has all the promising tempo and quick chemistry of a fantastic hookup.
âWe could justâŠâ He huffs, lifting his mouth off her neck where heâs started licking and sucking. ââŠtip the mattress onto the floor?â
Sheâs taken aback by the idea of fucking Spider-Man on a mattress in the middle of his mess of a bedroom. With the curtain as the only thing to show they made any progress in this room before giving in to their libidos. But sheâs in her underwear, overalls ringing her ankles, and the man beneath the famous mask looks hot as hell when heâs been kissed hard and riled into an expectant erection. How else are they going to pass the time before their friends return? Fanning out magazines on his coffee table?
âLetâs do that,â she agrees.
They work as a team to control its fall. The roomâs carpeted, so the mattress doesnât make much of a sound beyond a soft thump when it hits the floor. MJ frowns at it thoughtfully. âYou donât have sheets.â
âFuck sheets,â Peter says, half declaration, half laugh, and walks across the mattress to get to her.
She smiles against his mouth because itâs funny that heâs momentarily taller, standing on the mattress while her feet are still on the floor. Good thing heâs already taken his shoes off. MJ pulls away and drops to unlace her own sneakers, very, very aware of the rasp of Peter unzipping his jeans right above her head. She steps out of her shoes and overalls, then frees her hair of the elastic, flinging it spontaneously across the room, tousling her hair in her hands to fight the tingling of her scalp as she straightens up.
Oh. Heâs already stripped his boxers off.
If her mouth actually does fall open as dramatically as it feels like it just has, itâs fine. MJ forgives herself. Youâre supposed to be embarrassed after meeting a celebrity, wincing over every rambling sentence you blurted at them and every awkward twitch in your high-strung body language. Only you will ever recall your spastic behaviour. The celebrity forgot you the moment you exited their line of sight. Wait, will Peter mark her down as a horny fan and forget her? She hasnât known him long enough to separate the man from the heroic icon, but she hopes neither side of his identity involves treating a partner like that. But no. Doesnât matter. She can overanalyze later. Peter takes her hands and guides her onto the mattress where they make out standing up for a few minutesâhim hot and rigid against her stomach, her not quite nakedâbefore things get so heated that they collapse with roaming hands (Peter) and trembling knees (MJ).
For such a wholesome figure, Spider-Man curses wildly as he slides her underwear off, nose skimming down her skin from between her breasts to below her bellybutton while he works.
âYou⊠you lookâŠâ he pants, propping himself up on his hands just to admire her. She has to confess, to herself alone, that itâs flattering, that itâs already making her want more of this: reckless afternoon sex in her friendâs fiancĂ©âs best manâs new apartment. âGod, Iâm so glad youââ
âCalled your bluff?â she suggests wryly.
âAnd everything before that. Iâm so glad you were standing on the sidewalk when I got out of that truck.â
Well. Thatâs a little earnest. Then again, the man is hovering over her in the nude, so theyâre in the heat-of-the-moment realm, during which time, comments of disconcerting earnestness do not count, or can be retracted later with no fault to either party.
To counteract it, MJ teases, âAre you saying youâre glad I came?â
âIâm glad you didnât immediately leave when I said that thing about my wood,â he confides, kissing swiftly back up to her chest and using nothing but his tongue to toy with her breasts. She gasps at the sudden pull of his teeth, then laughs.
âSo you were saying that shit on purpose.â
âDonât be mad that I was too intimidated by your hotness to flirt with you to your face.â
His tone is playfully giddy and she likes this guy, she really does. She gets a good grip on his soft brown curls and tows him up for more kissing. Her knees bump his bare hips as she forms a cradle for him to drop into. Hint, hint.
Luckily, Spider-Man knows his cue.
He rocks between her legs and her chest rises and falls like breathing is a massive exertion. His angle is almost just right, so MJ shuffles and shifts and heâs endlessly patient as she rubs against him from below, testing. Well, not endlessly patient. The instant she moans in satisfaction, heâs got a hand wrapped desperately around her hip as he grinds down with tenacity. Right. This isnât just any hookup, any guy. This is the guy who makes a career out of not backing down. Heat flows through her at the sudden thought of being handled with the intensity of one of Spider-Manâs mission.
âWhoa, whoa, whoa,â she says as she feels the head of him slip lower, skipping across her entrance. âCondom.â
Intense, and kind of a lustful dumbass.
âRight,â he agrees, flushed when he raises his face from where heâs been breathing in the scent of her hair. âI have one, uh, in my wallet.â
And then he doesnât break away from her for a good ten seconds, like heâs hoping sheâll let him slide in bare. Horny motherfucker. MJ wants to screw Spider-Man, not birth his crime-fighting offspring. She tucks her chin and gives him a look that promises, as much as it would pain her, this thing is shutting down here and now if he doesnât wrap it up. With a resigned exhalation (and a little smile implying he knows what he was trying to get away with), Peter pushes off of her and goes to dig around in the pocket of his jeans. She rolls onto her stomach to study the ropy musculature of his thighs. When he extracts the condom with a triumphant burst of sound, she flips onto her back again and watches him trip over the jeans he just dropped. Thereâs a charming contrast between this unexpected klutziness and her assumption that he could pull anybody with a pulse using those trusting brown eyes and his Avengers status.
He crouches beside MJ and doesnât take his eyes off her, flapping the condom between his fingers.
âShould I put this on or do you wanna put it on me?â
She presents her palm.
âGive me that. You canât even be trusted to install a curtain rod.â
âOh, Iâm extremely ready to install a rod,â he says eagerly, watching her tear the condom open and reach for his waiting cock.
âYou know, youâre a real dork for a guy with those commitments and that ass.â
âThank you?â
Before his uncertainty can swell to self-congratulations, MJ rolls the condom roughly down his dick, making him heave and shake, hips bucking into her perfunctory hold. Smirking, she closes her fist and pumps him quickly, eyes on the blank bliss on his face, his slack jaw. After a brisk minute of this, he begs her to slow down, then, still kneeling at her side, cups between her legs and starts fondling her at an even more vigorous pace than she was using on him. Her breaths come in hiccups and she canât point out how unfair this is. Just as sheâs arching for more, thinking sheâs about to come faster than she ever has in her life, Peter stops cold.
âAre you ready toââ
MJ glares and knocks him back onto his ass, then scrambles onto his lap, continuing to push him down until his shoulders touch the mattress. His expression is cheerily confused.
âI was this close,â she says, pinching her fingers together until they nearly touch. When her complaint brings an impish smile to Peterâs face, she pinches those fingers around his nipple, so he hisses and curls into himself. Shaking her head at him, she takes hold of his erection and eases down onto his lap. His ecstatic chant of, âOh man, oh man, oh man,â is moderately distracting, but MJ persists. Itâs just who she is: stoic.
âGod,â he groans beneath her as she begins swaying forward and back, âthis is almost as good as catching the midnight opening of a new Star Wars.â
She covers his mouth with her hand and he laughs behind it.
âI was just trying to lean into your perception of me. Iâm kidding.â
âAre you though?â
But she frees him for the noises he makes. Some of these grunts and whimpers scale her spine like a ladder, raising goosebumps as they go, until the whole sensation comes shivering back down and she finds herself riding him harder.
âFirm mattress,â she huffs.
ââS new. The last one was awful on my back andâughhhhhhhohfuuuckâwith the hazards of my line of work, I figured I gotta start taking care of myself.â
âIf you wonât, I will,â MJ mumbles, curving forward to lick his chest, charting it all under her tongue, as she continues to shove back against him.
âFuck,â he says, short and sharp. He seizes her hips and rolls her beneath him. âYou should know, you taking control is a big turn on for me.â
âClearly.â
Sheâs not sure how much sarcasm comes across in her gasp because his manhandling has knocked the wind out of her. Actually, sheâs happy to let him steer things; being on top was starting to remind her legs of every step sheâs walked up and down in this apartment building today, carrying Peterâs shit. He kneads some of the tightness away when he grasps her thigh and digs in with a roll of his fingers. Her moan is as much in relief as arousal. Then he starts thrusting so fast and deep that he has to pull her back towards him every so often so she isnât forced off the mattress. The hum leaving her mouth is somewhere between breathing and moaning, one note that drags on and on, jumping and breaking when he catches her mouth in sloppy, ravenous kisses.
Heâs still doing his damnedest to make out with her when her lips part with a genuine shriek. The tickle of Peterâs tongue against the roof of her mouth somehow adds to the sensation, like a high vibration over the low thrum of him drilling in and out of her. MJ comes seconds into the beginning of her scream; Peter comes with a crack. The sheer force of her orgasmâSpider-Man is clearly not without finesse, he simply does not choose to employ it in favour of fucking like heâs a sportscar running a red on a highspeed chaseâhas her too stunned to figure out why the sound accompanying his was wrong.
âWhat was that?â she asks hazily as Peter slumps over her body, breathing hard and still gently thrusting. Heâs sweaty, but so is she. With something like pride, she realizes heâll have to go to sleep tonight with his mattress soaked in her scent.
âLeg slipped,â he says.
MJ does vaguely recall that. In the midst of her climax, heâd moved. It wasnât enough to distract her, so sheâd focused on the feeling, as well as the resolution to not let him get her that close to the edge a second time without going over it.
âAnd hit what?â
âUhhhâŠâ
He doesnât appear to know either, with his bleary, punch-drunk expression thatâs unfortunately pretty adorable. No, no, no. A hand with moving, a hasty fuck, and sheâs out. The whole dayâs been extremely worth her while. She tells herself she doesnât need more.
But Peter rolls off and she misses his weight and warmth, his shape and soft eyes. Heâs sitting on the edge of the mattress with his knees folded high when he goes, âShit,â under his breath.
Because he also happens to be handling condom-removing at the time, MJ sits up fast, in a panic.
âDid it break?â
His posture inflates with a deep breath, then sags.
âYeah. I donât think thereâs any way to salvage it.â
Salvage it? Thatâs a weird fucking thing to say in the situation, like it could possibly matter whether or not they were able to repair the condom after heâs already come inside her. Still, MJâs skeptic nature makes her grab Peterâs shoulder and wrench it back, only to see the tied-off condom dangling between his fingers. It looks intact. She grips his chin and turns him to look at her.
âWhat do you mean itâs broken? Itâs not in tatters. Itâs not leaking.â
âWhat?â He squints at her, then follows her gaze to the condom. âOh, not the condom. My headboard.â
Sure enough, she looks up and thereâs his headboard, still protruding from the closet, but now in two pieces. The closest is on a slow, sad slide to the floor. He mustâve kicked it. MJ laughs breathlessly.
âOh, thank god.â Abruptly, sheâs pissed. âI thought you were talking about the condom! You donât scare a woman like that!â
âYou thought the condom broke?â
âYou had it in your hands and said âshitâ in this horrible way and I thoughtâŠâ She sighs.
âWe couldâve made it work,â Peter argues, making her nostrils flare as she puts her underwear back on. âOur baby would be super cute.â
âOur baby?! We met hours ago.â
âIâve developed stronger bonds in less time,â he says with a shrug, leisurely getting up and sliding his boxers up his legs. Nice ass. No. âYouâd be surprised how soon after meeting me some of the villains in this city get themselves so worked up that they wanna kill me.â
She yanks her t-shirt over her head with silent ire. Then has to take it off again because she forgot to put her bra on first.
âQuit looking like that. Nothing happened to you.â Peterâs mouth turns down as he glances over to the wreckage of his headboard. âI have to replace that. Again.â
MJâs seriously about to snap at this idiot for his insane priorities when he straights up stiffly as heâs stepping into the legs of his jeans.
âTheyâre back.â
âWho? Betty.â
âAnd Ned,â he says, now moving faster, doing the fly, throwing his own t-shirt on.
âInside out,â she says. Not to be helpful, just so that Peter doesnât give away exactly what theyâve been doing with their time since their friends left.
She goes to swat him when he comes towards her, but then his fingers are buttoning one side of her overalls while she does the other. MJâs just clicked the straps back into place when the front door opens and closes. Sourness fading, she gives Peter a grateful nod for his help.
âWait,â she hisses. âWhereâs the condom?â
On the instruction of some bizarre reflex, he grabs it from the floor and whips it clear across the room, sending it sailing out the window. Her jaw drops in horror.
âI canât believe you justâ"
âGuys?â Betty calls. âThe Mexican place up the street was closed, so we just hit the liquor store for now. Howâs the bedroom coming?â
MJ and Peter race to the door; she pulls it closed so fast that it smacks him in the ass, but then he gives her this stupid look like he liked it. And hereâs Betty.
âYouâre sweaty,â she notes. âBeen working hard? You guys get the curtain up?â
âYep,â MJ says honestly. âNo problem.â
Her friend beams in satisfaction, but her expression shifts to conspiratorial as she links her arm through MJâs and starts to guide her towards the kitchen, likely wanting to know if Peter said anything else colourful during her absence. Except that moron decides to pipe up from right behind them.
âAnd when we finished with the curtain, we moved on to the bed.â
âYou did what?â Ned demands from the kitchen, then comes hurtling around the corner.
âNo,â Peter gasps. He flings himself back to the bedroom door and blocks it, holding both hands out to keep his best friend back.
âMJ?â Betty questions with a growing grin.
She glances between the three of them for a moment and realizes thereâs no way Peterâs keeping this secret. Time to go on the defensive.
âYou brought me here,â MJ argues. âI canât be blamed for my weakness for organizingââ
âOh,â Betty shoots back. âFor organizing and not forââ
ââapartments. All Iââ
ââPeter, who you were so clearly attracted to from the instant you saw him?â
ââwanted to do wasââ
âMe?â Peter says, taking a hopeful stab in answer to MJâs explanation.
She glares at him.
âYou flirted shamelessly with me all dayââ
âYou didnât even realize I was flirting.â
ââso how am I supposed to help it ifâ Oh,â MJ says, catching the end of that comment, âand is that supposed to negate the effect it had?â
âI loved the effect it had. I have nothing to say against it.â
âHow did you two go from shy teenagers sneaking glances at each other to an old married couple within the last half-hour?â Ned asks, jubilant.
âYouâd have to ask my new neighbours,â Peter says calmly. âI think the scream they overheard is probably enough of an explanation.â
âThat scream was on you,â MJ protests.
âAnd the noise complaint Iâll probably get is on you!â
âSounds like you two should exchange numbers,â Betty suggests brightly. âIn case you need to follow up for that noise complaint.â They both look at her. Then, MJ withdraws her phone from the back pocket of her overalls and pushes it into Peterâs hand.
âFine,â she says.
He agrees with a shrug, eyes on the screen as he taps out his information.
âCome on, you crazy kids,â Ned coos, âletâs grab a beer while theyâre still hot from the walk back.â
Betty giggles at this and twines her fingers through her fiancĂ©âs.
In the kitchen, she pulls MJ aside right as MJâs contemplating squeezing past Peter a second time on the pretext of getting ice. (The first time, she pressed her ass to his groin and felt him rub against her in response.) She didnât even need the ice; she dumped it straight into the sink.
âSo, how was that?â Betty asks, searching MJâs face keenly for approval and recognition of a job well done.
âPerfect,â MJ has to grant her. âHe did something incredibly irritating right before you guys got back, so Iâm sure he found my annoyance entirely organic.â
âMethod number sixty-three for getting a guyâs number still works like a charm. Though you know you couldâve just asked me for it.â
âYeah, but messing with him was more fun.â
Her friend smiles against the lip of her bottle.
âDo you feel bad?â
âNah. Heâs been messing with me all day.â
âHey, MJ,â Peter calls to her from where he and Ned have started emptying another box marked âKITCHENâ. âYou wanna help me screw something to the wall later?â Smiling broadly, he waves a magnetic wall-mounted knife holder.
âLike that,â MJ stresses to Betty, then tosses her bottle cap so it bounces off Peter Parkerâs stupid, smug, handsome face.
nuts about you
Itâs simple. Thirty days. All of November. No nutting allowed. Can Peter survive? A friends/roommates to lovers tale of stupid bets, sabotage, and most important of all, nuts.Â
thotumn. day 11. free prompt day finale.
Thank you @spideysmjsâ for organizing this magical month for us!! Because I am TOO impatient, Iâm posting this a day early (also to keep my tradition of not posting things at the right time). Enjoy this purely goofy adventure.Â
--
Of all of the stupid ideas Peter and Ned have thought of in their ten-plus years of friendship, this oneâs up there.Â
Easily in the top three.Â
No, itâs more than stupid. Itâs ridiculous. Itâs pointless. No one in their right mind actually thinks this is a good idea or that thereâs any reason to do it. Itâs an internet joke thatâs too old, a meme that has no right being funny anymore. Itâs run its course, and the guise of it raising awareness for anything other than the masturbation habits of penis-havers is complete and utter bullshit.
Again. Itâs stupid.
Still, Peter Parker is not one to turn down a challenge, no matter how stupid. Heâs nothing if not competitive. What can he say? If he wonât do it, who will?
This is what he considers as Ned lays it on the table for him.
All of November. Thirty days.Â
Peter doesnât know how the conversation even started or how they ended up betting against each other in the worldâs most moronic challenge. All he knows is that Ned is more than convinced that Peter is weak and wonât last. In fact, heâs so convinced that heâs willing to bet money on it. His reasoning ends up being that Peter isnât strong enough.
And Peter? Well, heâs convinced that he will make it, that he can survive an entire month without giving in to his desires to bust a nut, to beat his meat, etc. etc. And he, too, is willing to bet moneyâa stupid amount, maybe more than a hundredâon his own success and his friendâs failure. He doesnât want to appear too cocky, but heâs more than a hundred percent sure heâs got this in the bag. Yeah, itâs thirty days of cutting out one of Peterâs favorite pastimesâif not the favoriteâbut thereâs no doubt in his mind that heâs more than capable of practicing a little restraint.Â
Still, confident as he is, thereâs still that part of him that canât help but dread the coming month the more and more he thinks about it.Â
âSo, definitely thirty days?â Peter asks, eyes narrowing in thought. He tries to appear casual, as if the idea of no release for that amount of time isnât a big deal. Itâs more for clarification. âNovember has thirty days?â
Ned scoffs. âYeah. Thirty days.â
âAny strikes? Any free coupons?â
âNope.â Ned shakes his head with a soul-crushing finality. âWhy? You donât think you can make it?âÂ
Itâs Peterâs turn to scoff, face scrunching dramatically as he recoils. âWhat? No. Iâm worried about you, man. What are you gonna do about Betty?âÂ
Ned fixes him with a deadpan stare, clearly not buying whatever bullshit Peterâs trying to peddle. âA bet is a bet. She will respect that.â
âHow can I trust you, though?â Peter asks, eyes narrowing in slight accusation. âYouâre always at her place. I mean, howâll I know youâre not lying?â
Ned glares. âHow can I trust you?â
Peter sputters, desperately thinking of ways to throw a reverse Uno at this situation. âWhaâI have no idea what youâre talking about. IâmâIâm single, man.â
Ned blinks. Once. Twice. âDo we need to talk about Felicia?â
âThat wasââ
âCindy?â
âDudeââ
âJohnny? Jessica? Gwenââ
âI get it. I get itââ
âCarlie? OhâDebbie? Caleb! Then there was Angelaââ
Peterâs expression contorts into one of confusion. âAngela?â He tilts his head, squinting, searching for any kind of memory.Â
âCute red head. You met her in line at Aldi.â
âAhhhâŠâ A knowing, borderline too-telling smile of recognition pulls at Peterâs lips. âAngela...â he sighs, almost dreamily. Okay, so maybe Ned has a point. But just because Peter enjoys the company of other people so much that heâs got his own version of Mambo No. 5, doesnât mean heâs incapable of living without the warm touch of another human being or his hand.Â
Peter freezes, glancing at his friend. âOkay. Well. What do you want me to do about that? Itâs not like Iâm gonna call any of them up or anything. I have some sense of self-control.â
Again, Ned blinks.Â
âAnd besides, Felicia was freshman year⊠sheâs our friend now. I donât hook-up with her anymore.â
Another blink. âDude.â
âFine.â Peter huffs, whipping his phone out, eyes nearly rolling out of their sockets and onto the floor as he starts swiping through his contacts. âBut Iâm not deleting any of âem, okay?âÂ
âPeterâŠâÂ
âIâll change their names! How âbout that?âÂ
A beat passes of silent, overtly-judgmental staring on Nedâs part. He huffs after another second, throwing his hands up in defeat. âFine.â Then, his frown shifts into a nonchalant smirk. âWhatever makes it easier for you to lose and me to win.âÂ
âPlease,â Peter scoffs. âIâm not the one with a girlfriend. Youâre going down.â He tilts his head, narrowing his eyes, lips pursed in mock-contemplation as he points a finger. âOr I guess⊠Bettyâs the one going down.â
Ned nearly chokes on his water holding back a snort. âCome on, man.â
Peter shrugs.Â
âOkay, well, are you gonna change the contact name for your right hand, too?â
Itâs Peterâs turn to spit out a laugh.Â
But before he can even come up with another totally awesome comeback, he hears the jingling of keys, the clanking of locks as their roommate comes home after a long day of classes. All he sees is a flash of her curly hair before heâs tearing his gaze away from the front door, suddenly finding the pads of his thumbs to be pretty damn interesting.Â
âHey, MJ,â Ned greets casually, as if they werenât just sorting out a bet where neither of them are allowed to orgasm for an entire month.Â
ââSup.â Michelle flashes them a brief, closed-mouth grin as she makes for the refrigerator, swiping up some baby carrots and the brita filter.Â
Really, the conversation from earlier should be done there. Nothing else needs to be said. Especially not in front of their roommate.Â
But Peter canât help himself.Â
âLetâs shake on it,â he says, putting his hand out, knowing that the more he keeps talking, the more danger heâs in of saying too much.Â
Ned takes it readily, eyes narrowed in determination. âLetâs.â
The corner of Peterâs lip twitches upward, but he holds it back. âNo⊠Peanuts.â
âNo walnuts.â
They have that understanding, speaking in the code that the two of them have just made up on the spot, something that Peter canât help but feel pretty damn proud of.Â
MJ glances between the two, carrot half-way to her mouth, frozen in place, brows pinched in suspicion.Â
âPeter and I are giving up all nuts for the next month,â Ned says proudly, answering the question that she most certainly did not ask.Â
âCool.â
Ned throws a not-as-subtle-as-he-thinks-it-is wink across the table, giving a just as subtle thumbs up from behind one of his stray history books.Â
Peter nods.Â
âWhy?â Michelle asks, her questionâone that shouldnât have been as much of a surprise at is wasâcausing them both to exchange wary glances.Â
Thereâs a silence that follows, one that might clearly show that these two guys have no idea what kind of hole theyâve dug themselves into. Ned watches Peter expectantly. Peter glares back.Â
âIs it like a health thing?â MJ offers, popping another carrot into her mouth.
Peter nods a little too quickly. âYeah. Health stuff.â His stomach flips when her gaze meets his, her eyes squinting as she chews thoughtfully.Â
âMay thinks Peter might have a nut allergy,â Ned hastily spits out. When both sets of eyes land on him, he laughs. âSo his allergist suggested going a month without âem. To see if that makes it better.â
And honestly, Peter thinks thatâs a pretty damn good save.Â
The best part is that MJ seems to buy it. She nods. âSo why are you doing it, Ned?â
âSolidarity,â Ned offers quickly.Â
Nice save.Â
âAh,â MJ purses her lips, though she still doesnât seem to care all that much. âWell, good luck. I guess. I know how much you guys⊠love⊠nuts? I guess?â
Peter nods solemnly.Â
When she turns back to grab a cup from the cabinet, he throws Ned a quick single nod.
Well played.
--
âSo, Peterâs doing no nut November.â
Felicia nearly chokes, snorting as she struggles to keep her vanilla latte in her mouth. âWhat?â She asks after a dangerous second. They were supposed to be having a nice study sesh, reading about Bloomâs taxonomy, not talking about Peterâs nut habits.Â
âHe and Ned made a stupid bet to see who could last the whole month,â MJ answers, taking a quiet sip of her London Fog. âApparently they bet a lot of money on it.â
Feliciaâs face scrunches in amused confusion. âWhy?â
âDo they really need a reason to do dumb shit?âÂ
Considering that for a second, Felicia nods with a satisfied frown. âFair.â
âI bet against Peter, though,â MJ continues. âAfter he left, I made Ned let me in on it. Thereâs no way Pete can last the whole month, right? Not even a week.â
âOh, definitely not,â Felicia vehemently shook her head. âI honestly feel like heâd spontaneously combust after, like, a day.â Then, she lets out a quiet snort. âCombust a nut.â
Michelle wrinkles her nose. âEw.â
âBut for real. Heâs not gonna make it.â
âThatâs what I said. Ned seems to have some faith in him thoughâno idea why. I told him that Peter wouldnât even last a week⊠and now I guess Iâm involved.â
âThis would be so easy to sabotage though.â
âRight?âÂ
âSeriously,â Felicia snorts. âAll Iâd have to do is hit him up one more time and heâs gone.â And then, in that next instant, her face lights up like a Christmas tree. âThatâs it!â Before she says anything else, sheâs pulling her phone out, quickly scrolling through, looking for God knows what. âGirl, I am gonna win that bet for you.âÂ
MJ leans forward, curious, yet still cautious. Sheâs not sure if Peter hooking up again with Felicia is the best idea, given that relations within the friend group would just make things a giant, tangled up mess of complicated awkwardness. âHow?â Michelle dares to ask, craning her neck to see what the hell Feliciaâs doing on her phone.Â
Her friend is quiet for a moment, locked in concentration on her screen, bottom lip tucked between her teeth, brows knit together. Then, she cracks a satisfied, sly smile, turning her phone to show MJ just what she was looking for.Â
Simply; a picture of Feliciaâs relatively new tattoo which, in and of itself, doesnât seem like it would get Peterâs peter going. Itâs pretty. Floral. Nothing to lose oneâs mind over.Â
No, itâs more the placement.Â
Itâs a tasteful shot, the simple flowers lining the underside of her breasts, her hands acting as makeshift pasties, just barely covering her nipples.Â
Still, though thereâs no actual nudity, itâs enough to make MJâs eyes bug out of her head for a moment before sheâs realizing what sheâs looking at.Â
âOkay. So?â Michelle waits for an explanation.Â
âI send him this,â Felicia says simply, pulling her phone back and (seemingly) drafting up the very message. âAsk if he wants a closer look at it.âÂ
Michelle considers it a moment, knowing that thereâs a very strong chance that Peter could almost immediately fall into such an obvious trap. The corners of her lips twitch into a casual frown. She shrugs. âHonestly. Yeah. That might work.âÂ
âMight?â Felicia almost scoffs.Â
âYouâre a genius.â
A smirk tugs at Feliciaâs mouth as she leans back in her chair, swiping up to send the message before putting the phone down on the table. âI know.â
They sit in silence, the two of them watching the screen with bated breath. They both gasp when the read receipt pops up, followed by a dead silence. MJ can only imagine how stressed that boy must be, opening his phone, thinking itâs an innocent text from Felicia, then BAM, heâs vibe-checked by her boobs instead.Â
She holds back a snort, her stomach jumping into her throat seeing the dot-dot-dot pop up at the bottom of the screen. Itâs almost as if she forgets to breathe, waiting to see what heâs going to say to such a blatant come on.Â
Itâs like heâs typing a damn novel with how long itâs taking him though, and Michelleâs not sure she can take it much longer.Â
And then, her phone dings.Â
Feliciaâs lips pull into a frown reading the message. ââWow. Looks cool! No thanks, though.â Aaaaand,â she spins her phone for MJ to read it. âThumbs-up emoji. Smiley face with sunglasses.â
Even MJâs surprised at that response. Maybe Peter is really taking this No Nut November thing seriously. Maybe heâs not as weak as she thought. But⊠it doesnât make any sense. Nothingâs adding up.Â
And with this confusion, thereâs a sense of relief, knowing his response. Waiting wasnât fun.Â
âHuh.â Felicia sighs, biting her lip in thought as she starts typing out another message and sending it.Â
âWhat did you say?â Michelle asks.Â
âI told him Iâd been thinking about getting my nipples pierced and wanted to know what he thought.âÂ
At that, Michelle snorts. âYouâre an evil woman.âÂ
Felicia shrugs innocently. âI think heâd really like âem.â
Truly, itâs a genius move. Itâs something that Peter has to address; Feliciaâs nipples. The idea of them being pierced. Itâs too much for his brain to handle.Â
And again, just like before, they get into a staring contest with the conversation, watching as the read receipt pops up again, immediately followed by the ever-cruel ellipses as Peter no doubt struggles with a response thatâs not too-eager.Â
But then, he completely throws them for another loop.Â
ââI support you, friend!â withâŠâ Her eyes narrow. âA smiley face.âÂ
âWow,â Michelle says, genuinely surprised.Â
And Felicia seems just as shocked, if not a little offended that one of her oldest tricks in the book seem to have no effect whatsoever. âDid he just⊠friendzone me?â She asks, absolutely appalled.
âYou were already friends before?â Michelle laughs.Â
âBut in this context?â She huffs, shaking her head. A beat passes where all she does is stare at her phone. âThatâs weird,â she says slowly, lips quirking into a confused frown. âHuh.âÂ
âThere, there,â Michelle deadpans, patting her friend stiffly on the hand.Â
Felicia laughs. âItâs fineâŠâ She draws out. âA hit to the ego is good for me every once in a while.â
âOh my God,â MJ rolls her eyes. âYouâre still hot. Donât worry.âÂ
With a sad, a little over-dramatic nod, Feliciaâs frown deepens as she pretends to wipe at her eyes. âYeah. I am.âÂ
âI canât believe that didnât work,â MJ muses. Really, she canât. Peterâs perhaps the easiest person she knowsâand thereâs nothing wrong with that at all; itâs just a fact of life. The sky is blue. Grass is green. Peter is a thot.
âI guess heâs really following through with this whole no nut thingâŠâ Feliciaâs brow furrows as she recoils. âHow much money did he bet anyway?â
âA hundred.âÂ
âOh my God.â
âYeah.âÂ
âHow much did you put in?âÂ
â...A hundred.â
âMJ!â
âListen!â Michelle reasons, holding her hands up in defense. âThis is gonna be the easiest two hundred dollars Iâve ever made.â
Felicia sits back, clearly impressed. âDoes Peter know youâre in on it?â
âNope,â MJ says, emphasizing the âpâ with an audible pop.Â
âWellââ Felicia starts, shifting in her seat, crossing one leg over the other. ââIâm sure youâll find some way to make that boy give in. Sorry I couldnât help.â
Michelle lets out a light snort. âItâs okay. You tried.âÂ
âIf I think of anything else, Iâll let you know.â
But honestly, MJ already has a vague idea of what her next step is.Â
And it brings her to his bedroom, to his desk, messing with his laptop while heâs out for his Sunday patrol. His password is entirely too easy to guessâreally, youâd think a guy as smart as Peter would have something a little more complicated than âwebshooter69.âÂ
If thereâs anything she knows about Peterâmaybe a little too much about her friendâis that while he mostly enjoys the company of a flesh and blood human being, heâs not above the occasional perusing of adult websites.Â
The guy likes porn.Â
The plan is to make his chrome homepage one of his regular sites. Confront him with the images that really get him going.Â
She browses through his history, hoping that he hadnât thought to delete everything or go incognito. And⊠luckily for her, that particular idea seemed to have slipped his mind entirely. Literally not even a week out and sheâs found a slightly-more-than-nefarious-looking website.Â
Easy enough.Â
And itâs exactly what sheâs looking for. Nudity galore. There doesnât seem to be a corner of the site that doesnât have a boob or a butt. It is truly Peterâs domain.
For a moment, she wonders if she should make the homepage specifically something he searches for⊠his favorite genre perhaps.Â
She shakes the thought away immediately. Itâs too invasive. Besides, the front page should be more than enoughâthereâs literally a video that frustratingly autoplays every time she goes back to that one page. And why would she need to know what Peter likes? Thereâs no reason for that. At all.Â
Making sure to close out of everything before logging out, she slams the laptop shut, sprinting out of his room as if he was just about to get home. Her heart races as she slams her own bedroom door behind her, catching her breath proving to be more difficult than usual.Â
And now, she waits.Â
It turns out, she doesnât have to wait very long.Â
That evening, in fact, after Peterâs come back for dinner.Â
He takes his time microwaving his leftovers from the day before, whistling to himself as he bounces around the kitchen. The whole time it feels like MJâs just holding her breath, anticipating his early demise the instant he opens up chrome on his laptop. And honestly, this does feel like a low blow, like sheâs just snatching up that low-hanging fruitâGod, MJ, phrasingâbut then sheâs reminded that this, again, is the easiest two hundred dollars she will ever earn.Â
And then she feels a little less bad about what sheâs done.Â
The second heâs finished with his food and disappears into his room, her eyes are on his door, and then it occurs to her that thereâs not really a way that she can know heâs, well, âlost.â Itâs all based on his own honor, if heâll admit to succumbing to his most basic need. She likes to think that he would, though. Peterâs too much of a good, honest guyâhiding his secret identity asideâthat he couldnât lie to his friends about it.Â
Ned comes home not two minutes later, deflating on the other side of the couch.Â
âRough day?â MJ asks, the teasing hint to her tone not going unnoticed.Â
Ned rolls his eyes. âTold Betty I was doing this whole month thing.â
MJ winced. âYikes.â
âYeah,â Ned chuckles.Â
âWell, if it helps, this whole thing is probably gonna end inââ she checks her phone. ââfive or so minutes.â
Nedâs gaze darts right and left. âWhat⊠What do you mean?âÂ
Before she can answer, Peter yelps from the other side of his door. Thereâs a loud crash that sounds suspiciously like a laptop being yeeted across the room in a hasty, knee-jerk reaction. Before either she or Ned can move, Peterâs bursting through his door, eyes blown wide, his face drained of all color, and heâs frozen in place, one hand gripping the doorframe.Â
And it takes everything in her not to grin. âEverything okay?â
Peter coughs, scratching the back of his neck, before his gaze lands on Ned in a challenging glare. âDUDE. Not cool.â
Poor Ned looks as confused as ever, his jaw dropping, brows pinching together as he glances between the two. âIâWhatâwhat are you talking about?â
Peter narrows his eyes even more.Â
âDid I hear something break?â MJ asks carefully, as not to seem too suspicious.Â
He startles at her voice, sputtering out a response that mostly sounds like the macaroni glue art of sentences. âOhâuhâno. ItâIt was theâthe laptop. There wasâa thing. AndâI just kindaâthrew it.â He laughs nervously. âItâs fine though. Notânot broken. All goodââ He throws some finger guns. ââin the hood.â
Her lips twist as she nods.Â
Peter nods back, hands in his back pockets as he starts to retreat back into his roomâthough not before throwing another Iâm watching you glare at Ned.Â
As soon as the door clicks shut, Nedâs in full interrogation mode.Â
âMJ, what did you do?â
She shrugs, toying with the loose thread of her hoodie. âNothing much. Just⊠Set his default homepage to some porn. No biggie.â
Nedâs jaw drops, thoroughly scandalized, but thereâs a hint of amusement behind his eyes. âDude⊠Thatâs evil.â
Michelle gives another shrug.Â
So, her second plan had failed. Even after surprise-porn, Peterâs still in the running. Heâs still holding out. Almost a two days into November, and he is surviving, a surprise to everyone involved, and already, MJâs running out of ideas. Well, goodâplausible ideas. There are plenty of ways sheâs sure she could compromise him. Take him to a strip-club maybe, but thereâs not a doubt in her mind that heâd be able to pick up on what she was doing. Thereâs no way heâd fall for it.Â
Hiring an escort was definitely out of the question.Â
Theoretically, both of those could work. Were they good plans? No. Absolutely not.Â
Heâs already turned down a previous hook-up. He broke his laptop out of the sheer panic that seeing porn brought him.Â
There doesnât seem to be much more that she can do.Â
Itâs not until the next day, as sheâs walking the clothing section of Target with Felicia that sheâs struck with an idea.Â
Felicia specifically striking her with said idea.Â
Theyâre in the middle of the sleepwear section, MJ mindlessly rifling through the fuzzy sock bin, when she nearly collides with the underwear display. Sheâs distracted for a moment, wondering if itâs too soon since sheâs bought new underwear to justify taking advantage of the sale, when Felicia nudges her with her elbow.Â
âPeterâs really into pretty underwear,â she says as if theyâre not in the middle of Target. As if thereâs not a mom and two kids in the actual pajama section two displays over.Â
Michelle recoils slightly, startled. âWhat?âÂ
âHeâs like, really into it,â she says, taking a casual sip of her iced coffee, reaching over to pick up a particularly lacy number. âJust saying. Might be useful.â
For some reason, MJ feels a strange heat rise to her cheeks. âIâm not gonna put these on for him!â
Felicia smirks, holding a hand up in defense. âWho said anything about you wearing it? You can just⊠leave it lying around for him to find, or something.â She tilts her head to the side, both brows raising. âJeez, MJ.â
âOhâŠâ Michelle says, though her face still burns. âRight.âÂ
Itâs not a bad idea. In fact, itâs pretty good. If Peterâs as into fancy underwear as Felicia says he is, then maybe leaving them around like some kind of weird scavenger hunt is the best plan. She doesnât buy much, picking a pair of relatively cheap lace and polyester. She could use her own underwear for this, but⊠that would be weird right?
(As if this isnât weird enough already.)
And besides, the ones sheâs buying are a little more extra in that department. They arenât meant to be worn for long, not from comfort.Â
Theyâre perfect.Â
She feels like some kind of underwear fairy, planting them somewhere in the apartment, making sure theyâre hidden, yet visible in a place that Peter frequents; it sticks up between the couch cushions, not subtle in the slightest. The second Peterâs butt hits that couch, heâll see them. Thereâs no other way around it.Â
It becomes another waiting game as she sits in the living chair, knees curled into her chest as she pretends to read quietly. Itâs pretend because she canât focus long enough on any single letter to let her brain absorb anything on the pages. Finally, the front door opens. Peter greets her with a cheery smile, making immediately for the kitchen.Â
Good. Yes. He gets his after class snack. Important.Â
Just as sheâd planned.Â
He emerges not two minutes later, bag of cheese crackers in hand as he launches himself over the back of the couch. ââSup?â he asks after shoving a mouthful of Cheez-its into his face.Â
Michelle wrinkles her nose, her eyes unconsciously darting between the guy on the couch and the panties peeking out from the cushions. âReading,â she offers, brandishing the very unread book.
Peter nods, tearing his gaze from hers after a beat and reaching for the remote. When he sits back, his hand brushes the cheap lace and he pauses, curious as he looks down to see what he touched.Â
All of this while MJ desperately pretends not to notice.Â
When he picks the pair up though, his brows pinch together, at first unsure as to what heâs actually looking at. âUhâŠâÂ
At that, MJ looks up, seeing right as the realization sets in.Â
Of course, she plays dumbâby staying silent.Â
Peter quickly looks to her, eyes wide as if heâs seen a ghost. âItâsâitâs notâthese arenâtââ His lips press together as he forces a breath through his nose. âIâOh godââ
And then, for a split-second, she feels the slightest bit guilty. Is this actually a good plan or is she just tricking him into getting a boner over cheap department store undies? That, and is she technically lying to him by not claiming the offending undergarments? By making him freak out over nothing?
He seems to be having some sort of existential crisis, wondering if these really are from some recent hook-up and the psychological effect of not nutting in three days has caused him to forget.Â
This was a terrible idea.
She has to put him out of his misery.Â
âOh, shit. Thoseââ Her laugh is breathy, short. ââThose are mine.âÂ
And instantly, Peter drops the thong, as if his hands had been burned. âOh!â he coughs, his gaze straining as if heâs trying to keep his eyes on her face. âSâSorry.â He swallows.
âYeah.â Rising on legs that are shakyâfrom sitting so oddly in the chair for so longâshe goes to snatch up the baby pink lace, clutching it behind her back before Peter can get another look. âSorry. Mustâve forgot. Uh, when I did⊠Laundry.â
Peter nods, breathing out a chuckle. âYeah. Yeah. Sâfine.â He waves her off, scratching the back of his neck.Â
But even after that, Peter still seems off. For some reason, he still doesnât seem to be able to look at her for more than a split-second. He doesnât say anything else, sitting in silence, his cheese crackers long forgotten on the coffee table.Â
Michelle wonders if she should say something else. Break the tension. Itâs awkward, obviously, because he feels weird about touching his friendâs underwear. Anyone would, really. He touched something that theoretically would be on her body; something that normally, he thinks is really sexy, or whatever.Â
After another minute of some good old soul-crushing silence, Peter stands, excusing himself to his room without another word.Â
Huh. Weird.
--
Itâs the movie night that finally gives her that clarity sheâs been looking for; that moment where everything clicks into place, and she can finally see how sheâs going to win this.Â
Nedâs out with Betty, leaving her and Peter alone not for the first time.Â
She and Peter are sitting on the couch together, her head resting on his shoulderâbecause thatâs what friends do, obviouslyâthe two of them sharing a gray fuzzy blanket. This is a normal occurrence. Theyâre close enough in their friendship that some occasional cuddling isnât too weird. Especially given how chilly itâs been lately. And, itâs comfy. Just some nice head-to-shoulder contact.Â
But later in the movie, when MJ starts to get dangerously sleepy, feeling herself drooping further and further, unable to completely pull herself back to reality. Things are fuzzy, almost dreamlike, as she just pulls herself up from his shoulder, giving up entirely on watching the movie and just grumpily laying down right on his lap, his thigh her make-shift pillow.
This isnât weird.Â
Itâs normal.
Sheâs sleepy.
And Peterâs a surprisingly comfy pillow.
Peter doesnât even have time to ask what sheâs doing before sheâs just nestling further into his lap. She misses the pure dread and panic that flashes across his face when her head lines up with his head. Thereâs no safety here. Just a few wrong movements, and sheâll definitely know whatâs up. Sheâll be an unwitting tourist to Boner City, population: one.Â
Peter has to do something. He canât let this continue. Having his best friends head just straight up on his crotch is not helpful in the slightest.Â
âMJ,â he gently nudges her, grimacing slightly when she just burrows further into him.Â
He nudges her again, and she grumbles, finally opening her eyes and looking up at him. She puts a hand on his thigh to steady herself.Â
Peter swallows.Â
âWhat?â She asks, not opening her eyes.
âI uhââ Peter canât seem to speak, trying desperately to come up with some excuse as to why he has to get the fuck out of there. ââI gotta pee.â
She cracks an eye open skeptically. âBut Iâm comfy,â she emphasizes her point byâonce againâsnuggling her face into his lap.Â
Peterâs about to lose his damn mind.Â
In MJâs defense, this had started with the best intentions. She truly was just wanting to lay down and sleep on her friends lapâagain, a perfectly normal thingâbut now⊠even through the haze of sleep, sheâs seeing how much this is effecting him.Â
It hadnât occurred to her until now, that she could be the one that makes him âcrack.â Theyâre just friends. Sure, she thinks heâs attractive, and yeah, maybe sheâs had the one or two or three sexy dreams about him before (even some soft, fluffy ones), but that doesnât mean she thinks about him in that way.Â
He's just Peter.
Sweet, adorable, kinda hot Peter.
Again, she doesn't think about him that way.
But she supposes it makes sense. Really, she should have known before putting her head on his crotch that he might get a little flustered from the proximity, that it might remind him of certain things. It's just the body's physiological reaction to a stimulus; the stimulus being her head. It's simple science.
So then, it would also only make sense for her to take advantage of that physiological response she's able to get out of him. Maybe not right at this second, given she's been a little blindsided by this whole thing. But maybe now she can rethink her gameplan. Now she has access to tools she didn't know she had access to before.
Her own sensuality.
She can certainly use that.
And it's not as if she'll do anything too out there. Just... make him feel the heatâthe pressureâjust a little bit. Make him sweat.
Felicia's of course delighted by this development, giving her full support in "seducing Parker into busting a nut."
(Her words, not MJ's.)
She'd also said something about how it's about time, but that'd been promptly ignoredâmainly because MJ didn't know what the hell Felicia was talking about.
The problem is now, though, Michelle's not exactly sure where to start. After Peter had made a dead sprint to the bathroom the night before, he's been a little more, shall we say, cautious, around her. He bounces on his feet, trying desperately to appear casual, acting as if nothing was weird about their movie night.
She only has three days left in the week, so she has to think.
And fast.
--
Peter's not sure if MJ's up to something, but he can't help but feel as though she's acting... strange. First, the underwear thing, which made him feel all kinds of flustered and weird, and then her head being dangerously close to his dick. It's a lot. She can't possibly know about this No Nut thing, right? She wasn't there, and Ned wouldn't have told her... right?
Still, he tries to avoid her as much as he can, ready to fly away the second she's in the same room as him.
Truthfully, he's always had maybe the tiniest crush on his best friend. It's faded in and out over the years, especially in their college years. But it's always been there, even if just the ghost of one. And now, he's starting to see maybe how bad of an idea this was in the first placeâNo Nut November. His roommate is literally probably the prettiest person in the world and he's being constantly reminded of the one thing he definitely should not be thinking about under any circumstances if he wants to win. It's a disaster that should have never happened in the first place. This could have been prevented, he thinks.
He's not sure how he didn't think about that when he'd agreed to do this.
He just knows that he has to do something, though he's not sure what.
But any and all ideas of how to protect himself instantly leave his mind, crashing his brain, when he comes back to the apartment the next day to find it sweltering. He looks at the thermostat, thoroughly confused to find the heater set to eighty. He peels off his jacket, recoiling when the humid air sticks to his skin. It's hot. Too hot. Even for early November. It's not that cold outside.
He's about to call out for his roommates when MJ emerges from her room, and he feels like he has to pick his jaw up from the floor.
Her shorts are too short for it being fall. They show too much of her legs for his eyes to not be immediately drawn to them. Her white tank top is tight against her skin, hugging her form in a way that almost makes him jealous. And then, it's almost too much, too dangerous, when he can very clearly tell that she's apparently decided to forgo a bra for the evening.
"Oh, hey Pete!" She says, as if she's not looking like that.
"Heyâhey. Em..." He clears his throat.
Dear God. It's been less than a week. Hold it together.
"Is it..." Peter swallows. "Is it hot in here? Theâthe heat? Is itâis it on?"
MJ's eyes widen a fraction.
"Oh, yeah. It is," she replies casually. "Is that okay? I was just a little cold."
"So you turn it up toâ" Peter stops, craning his neck to look at the thermostat on the wall. "âeighty-two?"
She glances left and right, as if there's nothing wrong with that temperature whatsoever. "Yeah," she says with a nonchalant shrug, her lips tugging into a frown. After a beat, she lets out a faint snort, apparently finding something particularly funny, before turning to the fridge. She opens the freezer, sighing as the cool air hits her face.
Peter doesn't realize he's staring as she reaches in, pulling out a box from the top shelf. When he sees what's in the box, he knows that his doom is near. It's bright, colorful. It's popsicles. He has to leave immediately if he knows what's good for him, if he has any sense of sanity left. She grabs a crinkling wrapper from inside the box, casually whipping it out. She holds one out to him.
"Want one?" She offers.
Peter can only shake his head, swallowing a near-silent, voice-cracking, "Nope."
And it's at this point, as she shuts the freezer door, as she starts peeling the wrapper off the way-too-phallic popsicle, that he knows he should run. It's not safe here.
But he's frozen in place, trying to burn his gaze into the intricacies of the granite countertops, tapping his fingers in an erratic rhythm.
He's an idiot, for sure, because he looks up at exactly the wrong time, right as she wraps her lips around the tip of the pop, her eyes meeting his for a fraction of a second.
How can it only be eighty-two in here?Â
Thankfully, he gains some sense, tearing himself away from the counter and going over to actually turn down the thermostat. "Is it okay if Iâ" He coughs. "âTurn this back down?"
"Sure." MJ doesn't stop him. She wets her lips, hiding her satisfied smirk by taking the popsicle deeper into her mouth.
But again, he makes the fatal mistake of looking at her again, because now... well, now she's just messing with him. She has to be.
No one eats a popsicle like that.
When he thinks it can't get worse, she has the fucking audacity to hum as she pushes it further into her mouth. "This is so good," she says, half-way a moan.
Who actually says that about a fucking popsicle?
It's evil, truly it is, because it makes him imagine her swirling her tongue around it inside her mouth, and suddenly, the tightness in his pants gets even more uncomfortable.
He hurries to somewhere else in the kitchen, pouring himself a nice glass of water. It's still too hot in here. MJ sidesteps him easily, still inappropriately eatingâsucking offâher popsicle. And he nearly chokes, because as his eyes meet hers again, she takes the damn thing out of her mouthâhe thinks he's safe, but oh noâshe slips her tongue out, licking a long stripe up the base, swirling it around the tip before taking it into her mouth again.
"What?" She asksâshe fucking asksâwhen he can't look away.
And unsurprisingly, Peter can't speak. Can't even get a single syllable out.
"Is my tongue red?" She asks, sticking said tongue out that was just seconds before all over the popsicle.
"I'm gonna go hop in the shower," Peter spits out, dropping his water in the sink and making a mad dash to the bathroom, not waiting for a response.
A shower is what he needs right now.
A nice, cold shower.
He needs to take a deep breath. Think of not sexy things. Things that don't make his life out to be a bad porno.
Then, he needs to leave. Hide in the forest. Live among the trees, away from temptation, until November is over. Only then can he be at peace.
That's it!
Trees. Nature. Forests. Cold. Snow. MJ in the snow. Kissing MJ in the snowâNO.
NO.
He slams the bathroom door, leaning back against it. He heaves out a shaky sigh, running a hand over his face in frustration. How he can possibly survive the rest of the month, he has no idea.
MJ has to be messing with him, right? Thereâs absolutely no way in hell sheâs not doing this on purpose. And why? Why is she torturing him like this? What has Peter ever done in his life to deserve this torment? It isnât fair.Â
No matter how desperately he wants to take care of the not-so-little problem in his jeans, he holds himself back, clenching every muscle in his body as he switches on a very cold shower. He squeezes his eyes shut, trying to will the image of Michelleâhis best friend and roommateâeating a popsicle out of his mind. It has absolutely no right to be there.Â
And still, as Peter stands under the stream of freezing water, letting it run down his back and front as he holds himself up with one hand, he canât help but think that the worst is yet to come. That somehow, someway, MJ would top simulating a blow job on an ice pop. He doesnât know how sheâd do it, but he knows itâs coming.Â
He must be ready.Â
--
Not to MJâs surprise, Peter avoids her the rest of the day. He keeps his head down, not daring to even glance up at her as he walks past. Weirdly enough, this is a good sign. It confirms her hypothesis that her actions can have some sort of an effect on him. It helps her to know what to do next.Â
And, wellâŠ
Sheâd be lying if she said it werenât at least a little bit thrilling.Â
Thereâs something deep inside her that finds all of this so interesting, so amusing. She wants to know how far she can go, how hard she can push before he cracks under the pressure. And the fact that itâs her that has all this power over himâitâs certainly a revelation.Â
But still, even if this is âfun,â she can be professional about this. She would never let it get âtoo far,â whatever that would be. No, the goal here isnât to seduce her way into Peterâs pants, but to seduce himâinnocentlyâenough that he just does it to himself.Â
Her next plan might be a little more unfair, a little more direct, and perhaps a little more daring than the last one.Â
Andâshe should addâmuch more difficult than she had anticipated.Â
For one, she just canât seem to get the right angle, holding her phone above her body, making sure to get both the underside of her breastsâa tasteful amount of boob, thank you very muchâand the same cheap, pretty pink undies she bought from Target. Itâs awkward, tilting and twisting her phone, her thumb just barely reaching the shutter button. The first few shots arenât anything to be particularly proud of. Too blurry, her arm cramping up from holding the camera up so long. This isnât something sheâs really done before, given sheâs never seen the appeal. Why send pics when you could just, you know, show them the real thing?Â
But for some reason, it makes her heart climb into her throat, makes her face almost unbearably warm.Â
Itâs when she changes her positioning on her bed, finding some nice light filtering in from the early evening sun. Golden hour has always proven to be exceptionally kind to her. She finds a decent pose, covering both breasts with her forearm, arching her back, making sure to get that perfect âbooty toochâ that would make Tyra proud. She breathes out in an attempt to cool her heated nerves, parting her lips in a way thatâs sure to incite some kind of reaction.Â
Click.Â
And then, sheâs got the shot.Â
Okay, technically itâs not a nude, but thereâs something about the idea of sending this picture to Peter of all people that gets her stomach twisting in knots.Â
And as her hand hovers over the send button, her heart hammers in her chest, hesitation holding her still. She takes her bottom lip in her teeth, beginning to wonder if this is the best idea. Her plan had been to send the picture, play it off as some kind of mistake, and hope that he goes to⊠take care of himself. Sure, it might get a reaction out of Peterâone big enough that causes him to give up this whole no nut thingâbut it almost feels as if sheâs crossing some kind of line.Â
Miming a blow job on a popsicle was one thingâone that she canât decide if sheâs proud of or not. That was just a performance. It wasnât something she was doing to Peter. Thisâsending him a racy picture when heâs literally in the next roomâis a direct interference.Â
Plus, thereâs no telling what this would do to their friendship. It could ruin everything. Catastrophically.Â
Awkward would be an understatement.Â
She puts her phone face down on the mattress, avoiding the picture all together, before getting up and pulling on one of her comfy robes.Â
God, all of this was a terrible idea.Â
Wallowing in her own self-pity and regret, she flops back down onto the bed, grabbing her phone with the intention of deleting the picture once and for all. Itâs still there in the text conversation, just waiting to be sent. She scoffs, shaking her head at herself, only for her heart to stop in her chest whenâin her frazzled stateâshe hits âsendâ instead of that little âx.â
âSHIT.âÂ
No no no no no NONONONONO.
She drops her phone immediately, wrapping her robe tighter around herself as she scrambles for her bedroom door, nearly tripping over her rug in the process.Â
Peterâs sitting on the couch, blissfully unaware, when his phone pings. And to Michelleâs utter horror, he picks it up.Â
âNO!â MJ shouts, jumping on top of him. Itâs a futile attempt really, seeing as her best friendâshe stupidly forgetsâis an actual superhero.Â
Peter yelps as she pushes him down into the couch, tumbling onto the floor, holding his phone away from her grabby hands as she straddles his hips. âWhat the fuckââ And while he could push her off of him with a ridiculous amount of ease, he stills, becoming suddenly aware of their precarious position.Â
âGimme your phone!â Her voice comes out in a half-plea, half-demand. All panic.Â
Peter still holds it away from her, his own brand of panic flashing across his features when his other hand naturally falls at her hip. He yanks it away, instead holding her back by the shoulder. âWhy?â
Itâs also then that he sees what sheâs wearingâor rather, what she isnât wearing.Â
And in his distraction, Michelle snatches his phone, instinctively throwing it across the room. She winces apologetically when he looks up at her, jaw dropped and brow wrinkled.Â
âWhat the hell, MJââ
ââIâm sorry! I panicked!â
âWhy?!â
âIââ
Itâs then, as they both stare at each other in shock, that they both realize the position theyâre inâbut neither of them seem to be able to move away, frozen solid on the living room floor.Â
Peter can feel his heart beating relentlessly in his ears, his throat suddenly going dry when he notices how tightly Michelleâs thighs are holding him in place. Another problem starts to arise when he sees how her cotton robe is pooled around their aligned hips, his eyes catching the sliver of shiny pink underwear when one side falls back. âWhatââ He clears his throat, his voice coming out uncharacteristically breathy. ââWhat was on my⊠my phone?â
âUhââ She presses her lips together. âA picture.â
Peterâs gaze drifts lower for a split second, dipping to the exposed dip in her chest, drawn to the rise and fall with each breath. âOf?âÂ
âMe?â
âYou?â
MJ breathes out a laugh, glancing down. âI, uhâaccidentally sent⊠You a picture. WellâI meant to send it to you, not that like, it wasnât for you, but I kinda decided not to send it⊠and then⊠I did. Accidentally.âÂ
And even though heâs trying everything in his power to keep his eyes on her face, he canât help the way they seem to travel lower and lower with each second. Heâs confused at first, but then, it hits him, like a train, what exactly that picture was. âOh.â
âYeah.â
The air crackles between them, static in their ears. Michelle finds her own gaze drifting lower, lingering on his parted lips, a warmth pooling in the pit of her stomach. She shifts slightly, her breath catching as she suddenly feels the hardness pressing into the inside of her thigh. Peter stares up at her, something in his eyes bringing her closer, inch by inch. The warmth and weight of both of his hands tentatively, slowly moving to her waist causes something to ignite within her, and in a split-second, her lips are on his.Â
Michelleâs surprised to find herself⊠wellâsurprisedâat how this kiss doesnât immediately turn into an all tongue-and-teeth, ripping-eachotherâs-clothes-off kiss. Itâs sweet. Slow and tenderâas if the two of them are savoring it. Nothing like sheâd expected Peter to be capable of. Nothing like how heâd painted himself to be from all of his hook-up stories.Â
And sheâs not entirely sure whoâs âfaultâ it is when it turns into more.Â
It could be the way sheâs subtly grinding her hips against his, her body alight with the friction.Â
It could be how his tongue swipes over her bottom lip, innocently at first.Â
It could be her soft, breathy whines as one of his hands moves lower to cup her ass, pulling her closer, the new angle against his hardness bringing an indescribable feeling.Â
And then again, it could be her robe starting to fall off her shouldersâsheâs not sure who starts that, but all of a sudden sheâs feeling cool air on her skin.Â
She almost smiles into the kiss, thinking about how easily and quickly this âchasteâ kiss had shifted.Â
And itâs immediately after that thought that she snaps out of it.Â
âWait!â She says, pulling back and sitting upâbut still staying in Peterâs lap. Before this can go any further, she has to tell him the truth. He has to be able to⊠back out of it.Â
Where this sudden sense of generosityâs come from, she has no idea.Â
He follows, sitting up with her, brows creasing, his expression a concoction of worry and panic. âOh, fuck. Iâm so sorryââ
âNo!â She puts a hand on his shoulder after fixing her robe. Her thumb smooths over the fabric of his shirt. âNo. Itâs⊠fine. I justâŠâ Surprisingly, she finds herself chuckling, unable to bite back her smile as he looks at her with concern.Â
âWhat is it, Em?âÂ
Itâs the nickname for her nickname that does it for her. Truly.Â
âYou good?â He asks, wincing as she shifts in his lap again.Â
âYeah, uhââ She coughs, trying unsuccessfully to hide the way her lips are twitching violently as she fights her smile. It takes her more than a few moments, the deep breaths sheâs taking not doing all that much to help mask the humor in her tone. ââI know about No Nut November.âÂ
At first, Peterâs confused, staring back at her with furrowed brows, his mouth in a cute little âoâ. He tries to play dumb, maybe thinking that he can get away with one final attempt to save his prideâletting out a nervous chuckle, scratching the back of his neck, he shrugs. âYeah, my new diet. Crazy, huh?â
She blinks, blankly staring at him. âPeter.â Thereâs some amusement there, especially as she pointedly glances down to their current position.Â
âWhat?â He asks dumbly.Â
âNed told me.â
Peter curses, wincing. âDamn it, Ned.â
âYeahâŠâ In a strange, very unwelcome bout of insecurity, Michelle removes her hands from Peterâs shoulders, twiddling her fingers together in front of her. âI made him tell me⊠and I kinda⊠also made him let me in on the bet.â
His eyes nearly bug out of his head. âWhat?!â
âWe kinda made our own bet that like⊠If you lasted less than a week, I would get all the money.â
âYou didnât think Iâd last a week?â Peter almost takes offense at that, even if thereâs merit to her prediction. âDamn, MJâŠâ
âI mean⊠I also wanted to win. So⊠I kinda triedâor I guess have been trying⊠to sabotage you?âÂ
At that, his jaw drops. âNo! WaitâYouâWhat? Iââ He stammers like that, his brain short-circuiting as she still watches from his lap. âThat wasâwhat? The porn? On my laptop?â
MJ nods, grimacing.Â
âThe⊠underwear? Just in the couch?âÂ
âYeahâŠâ
âAnd you were gonnaâŠâ He looks down at her, the cotton robe still just barely tied around herâthe journey his eyes make also coinciding with his mouth going dry once again. â...That picture you tookâŠ?â
She nods again, looking down at her hands.Â
âPutting your head on my lap?!â He asks, as if he of all people is scandalized.Â
âThat wasnât part of the plan. That was kinda what helped me figure out that⊠I could just⊠do it myself.âÂ
âOh my God,â he puts a hand on his face. âThe popsicle. The fucking popsicle.â
âThat was probably my best work, honestly.â
âThat was so cruel.âÂ
And when he laughs, his eyes crinkling, she starts to see that maybe this will all be okay, and a sense of relief fills her chest. âYeah, sorry. I also had Felicia help.âÂ
âYou put her up to that?!âÂ
âNah. She offered. I felt kinda weird about itââ She says the last part without realizing it, immediately shutting her mouth.Â
âThatâs why I said no,â Peter replies.Â
Itâs Michelleâs turn to be surprised. âWhat? Really? I thought it was just âcause you were so dedicated to this whole no nut thing.â
âI mean, yeah, I was butââ He laughs, reaching a hand up to smooth the curls at the base of his neck. ââI just⊠felt weird about it. With you guys being friends and all.âÂ
The way MJâs heart flutters is strange, but not entirely unwelcome. âWhy would that be weird?â
âWhy did you think itâd be weird?â He throws back, his lips twisting into a curious grin.Â
And not for the first time when talking to Peter, Michelle feels all knowledge of the English language leave her body. Itâs strange, how much confidence she can have while literally dry-humping him on the living room floor, but how scared she can be trying to explain something about how she feels.Â
She only shrugs.Â
A beat passes, and still, Michelle canât bring herself to move.Â
âSoâŠâ Peter draws out after another moment. âAll thatââ he clears his throat. ââstuff⊠that was just to win that bet?âÂ
âWell, I meanâyeah?â The look of hurt on his face makes her heart lurch in her chest. Sheâs quick to correct herself. âButâI⊠I think maybe that could be a good thing.âÂ
His brows raise in careful curiosity, though he still seems apprehensive. âA good thing?â He asks slowly.Â
Michelle nods, swallowing. âUhâYeah. âCause⊠If I hadnât then I wouldnât have figured out thatâum⊠I mightââ Itâs weird, how frustrating it is that she canât seem to find the words she wants to say, that her brain seems to have completely abandoned her in her greatest, most dire time of need. And this shouldnât be this hard. Sheâs an adult. Sheâs in her third year of college.Â
Confessing the feelings that youâve just realized you have for your best friend since high school should be easy right?
Right?
And sheâs only just figured this out. In the last five seconds. That all these years of weird feelings, long glances, warm faces has actually lead to something, theyâve actually meant something other than a weird stomach bug or whatever.Â
All it took was attempted sabotage during No Nut November for her to realize that.Â
The power it has.Â
âMJ?â
His voice grabs her attention; the caution in his tone snapping her gaze to his. And for a moment, she just looks at him, mouth hanging open as she tries to say something, anything. But still, she canât.
So, she does the next best thing.Â
She kisses himâagainâtrying her best to put all of the words she canât seem to figure out into it. And although he kisses her backâeasilyâhe doesnât seem to understand what she means, because he pulls away not ten seconds later.Â
âListenâMJââ Peter stammers, running a jittery hand through his hair as he breathes out a huff of laughter. ââI donât think I can doââ He gestures between the two of them. ââThis⊠if itâs just⊠casual.âÂ
So, he really didnât get it, and now, sheâs feeling the impatience creeping up her neck.Â
âI really like you, MJ,â he confesses, and for a moment, sheâs not sure if she heard him right, or if she heard him speak at all. Her brain must be playing some nasty, cold-hearted trick on her, because Peterâperpetually single and ready to mingle Peterâjust said that he liked her.Â
God, she feels like sheâs a teenager again. It feels so high school, the amount of butterflies in her stomach hearing him say that.Â
Even more so when she finds herself responding automatically, âI really like you, too.â
âCool,â he says lamely, his breathless chuckle making her heart flutter in her chest.Â
He doesnât waste another second before he tugs her back to him, capturing her lips to his, one of his hands moving to cup the underside of her jaw. She tilts her head, letting out a gentle sigh as he deepens the kiss. His tongue brushes against her lips before slipping into her mouth. The weight of his other hand on her waist is comforting in a way, heavy and solid as he holds her in place.Â
Truly, she hadnât expected any of her plans from earlier in the week to come to this.Â
Instinctively, her hand snakes down to his hips, sliding underneath the hem of his t-shirt and dragging across his stomach, smiling into the kiss as his muscles twitch underneath her touch. Itâs then, as her hand dips even lower, palming him over his sweats that he seems to snap out of whatever trance she put him in.Â
He grabs her wristâgently, of courseâpulling it away and breaking the kiss.Â
His chest is heaving with each breath, the corner of his mouth twitching upward in an apologetic smile. âIâI canâtâthe⊠the bet.â
And it dawns on Michelle then, that sheâs been cockblocked by No Nut November.Â
Even though she tries to appear understanding, he must be able to see the disappointment in the twist of her lips, the way she nods quietly.Â
âButââ He starts, pressing his mouth together into a thin line. He nudges her, pointing his finger as heâs hit with a revelation, talking slowly. ââYouâre not⊠doing⊠No Nut NovemberâŠâ
MJ lets out a surprised laugh, shifting in his lap as her face warms even more. A beat passes as she stares at him, giving him a chance to take it back. âAre you sure?â She finally asks.
Peter nods quickly, insistently. Heâs got this. Clearly. âOh. Yeah. Definitely. Iâll be fine.â
Yeah, sheâs not sure how much of that she actually believes.Â
Probably none of it.Â
But, that doesnât mean sheâs turning down the offer.Â
âOkayâŠâ She trails off, unable to bite back her grin at the brief self-doubt that flashes across his features. âWhat do youâwhat do you wanna do?â She asks, her face burning, suddenly finding herself the slightest bit tongue tied. It takes everything in her to at least look calm and not like sheâs about a half-second away from just jumping his bones.Â
Or, one in particular.Â
Peter clears his throat, the tips of his ears turning an adorable shade of red. âUhââ He huffs out a laugh. âI mean⊠Whatever youâre comfortable with? Iâm cool with whatever you want.â
Heâs cool. Okay. Yeah.Â
She shifts her weight again, biting back a smirk when he inhales sharply as she brushes against the hardness in his gray sweats. âSorry.â Feeling merciful, Michelle climbs off of his lap, sitting back against the couch, curling her legs underneath her. âAny ideas?âÂ
Though, Peter canât seem to tell if heâs happy with this new development or notâas hard as it was having her sitting on him. âUmââ And his expression tells her that he does have one. âI couldâŠâ He coughs again. âI could go down on you?â
Itâs funny, how casually he says it, like heâs offering to give her a ride to the airport, or something. But it still makes her ears ring.Â
âYeah,â she says, nodding slowly. She swallows. âThat soundsâthat sounds good.â
âWe should probablyââ He gestures to his bedroom door, huffing out a laugh. âânot do this out here.âÂ
âProbably,â she snorts.Â
The speed at which he scrambles to stand and runs to his bedroom, compared to her somewhat-leisurely pace, makes her let out the most undignified laugh.Â
A silence falls between them as he shuts the door, the click echoing. MJ takes a moment to glance around his roomâliterally a single moment, because in the next heâs wrapping his arm around her waist, yanking her to him and crashing his lips to hers. His hands are greedy, twisting handfuls of the soft fabric of her robe, finding purchase on her ass and grinding her against his hardness.Â
MJ revels in the groan he lets out as she melts into him, her hands winding themselves in his soft curls, twisting and tugging ever so slightly.Â
He guides her to the bed, pausing to gently lay her back on the mattress before crawling over her, his mouth finding itself on the underside of her jaw, his lips and tongue dragging along the column of her throat. With one hand, he prises her legs apart, happily settling between them while his other fumbles with the tie of her robe.Â
His eyes meet hers first, silently asking for permission, before pulling the thick string back. His eyes darken as Michelle helps him slip the robe back, leaving her almost completely bare underneath him. He unconsciously wets his lips as his eyes hungrily rake over the expanse of her bodyâhe feels as if the only accurate description for how he feels at this moment being a deer caught in really well-defined headlights.Â
She thinks for a moment that heâs just going to do thisâstare at herâinstead of, well, what he said heâd do.Â
But he doesnât seem to have that kind of patience. He lurches forward, his mouth hot on her neck, trailing open-mouthed, wet kisses down to her collarbone, her sternum, the swell of her right breast.Â
She bites back a gasp as he takes her nipple into his mouth, her back arching off the bed as his tongue swirls around it, palming the other with his hand. Itâs a sight to see for sure, Peterâs head on her chest, his curls tickling her skin.
His trail continues, back to the dip in her chest, lower and lower, his kisses hot on her stomach, down to her hips, the lace trim of her thong.
Peter sits back on his heels, breathless as he looks down at her. âFuckââ He curses, drawn to the damp patch in the middle of the soft faux-satin, how it clings to her.Â
He doesnât give it another second, hooking his thumbs around the lace and roughly pulling them off of her legs.Â
Heâs diving his head down in the next instant, his lips leaving scorching kisses on the inside of her thighs. He thinks that he can maybe tease her, trying to slow his pace as he gets closer and closer to where she wants him to be.Â
(Okay, itâs where he wants to be, too.)
He pulls back a little, trying not to smile too much at the disappointed edge in her shuddering sigh. As much as his mouth waters with her so close to him, he controls himself. Kind of. To a degree. He takes a finger, experimentally teasing her entrance, his sweatsâsomehowâtightening at Michelleâs quiet gasp as he touches her. There, he collects her wetness, coating his finger in her arousal, swirling it over her cunt, around her clit. And he sits there, marveling at how impossibly wet she is already.Â
Though, itâs not long, probably less than a minute, before his impatience kicks in again.Â
He thinks he might actually die if he doesnât eat her out.Â
Dramatic? Maybe.Â
Valid?
Whoâs to say?
But he canât help himself, and any thought about slowing down is thrown out the window as he licks a long stripe up her center, his eyes rolling back as he tastes her. He dives right back in, his tongue circling her entrance, lapping her up.Â
And Michelle canât help but notice how at home he looks between her legs, how in his element he is as he moves to start sucking on her clit, flicking it back and forth with his tongue as he teases her with two fingers.Â
His eyes meet hers and she wonders how on earth sheâs going to survive this, especially when those two fingers push into her, curling as he pumps them in and out.Â
âShitâPeter!â She cries, her back fully lifting off the mattress as he picks up his pace, moaning against her.Â
Clearly heâs enjoying this, too.Â
A choked gasp slips from her lips when he slows suddenly, his eyes locking with hers again before picking back up even harder and faster than before. She reaches down, tangling her hand in his messy curls, holding him in just that right spot. Her thighs try to close on him, trapping him in as the coil in her tightens, but his free hand grips her, holding her in place. And she canât fight the way her hips buck against him as she begins to grind herself against his face.Â
It builds and builds, teetering just on that beautiful edge, when Peter adds a third fingerâand then, sheâs seeing stars, her brain going fuzzy as all of her muscles tense, electricity shooting from the top of her head to the tips of her toes. She comes with a strangled moan, panting as her bodyâs overcome with pleasure.Â
Peterâs movements slow, and he pulls off of her sensitive clit, wiping his mouth with the back of his arm, before taking each finger into his mouth, sucking them clean.Â
MJ sits up on her elbows, her chest heaving with each breath as she watches himâand at that moment, her eyes drawn to the hard line in his sweats, she curses No Nut November again, because honestly, sheâs never wanted him to fuck her more, never been so angry at a single month.
He seems to be in the same fire, his expression wrought with the inner turmoil he feels. His eyes screw shut, and he pinches the bridge of his nose, trying desperately to ignore how painfully hard he is, how he can feel his dick pulsing already, and how stupidly hot and beautiful MJ is.Â
His decisionâs made before he opens his eyes.Â
Michelle lets out a surprised yelp as he leaps on top of her, his mouth on hers before she can start laughing. Somehow, his hands are greedier as they explore her body, squeezing and kneading her breasts, her waist, her hips, down to her ass.Â
None of thatâs to say that sheâs complaining, though. Peter just ate her out like it was his full-time job, like he was stopping crime as Spider-Man. As far as sheâs concerned, he can do whatever he wants right now.Â
Itâs when he starts to take his sweatsâand boxersâoff that she gets confused, if not a little too hopeful.Â
âWhat about the bet?â She asks breathlessly when he pulls back.
He holds her gaze, his lips curving into a sly grin. âFuck the bet.â
If thereâs a god, Michelle wants to thank her right now.Â
Peterâs hands grip her thighs, his fingers digging into her skin as he wraps them around his waist. He takes his dick in his hand, pumping a few times, swiping it down her center, tapping her clit, before Michelle suddenly remembers to use their one collective brain cell.Â
âWaitââ she gasps. âCondom.â
Peter curses under his breath, hanging his head for a moment, biting his lip. âYeah. Yeah. Youâre right.âÂ
If she thought he was fast running to the bedroom, watching him scramble through his bedside drawers looking for a rubber is something else. A giggleâa fucking giggleâbubbles up out of her at his relief when he finds one.Â
He rolls it on quickly, expertly, days of No Nut November clearly not slowing him down.Â
Heâs back on her in the next second, eager as he gathers her arousal and coating himself with it.Â
They both let out a string of curses as he pushes into herâfinally. Peter screws his eyes shut, taking a shuddering breath as he feels how warm and snug she is around him, almost unable to believe how well she fits him. MJ grips his shoulder, face burning as he gives her a moment to adjust, a moment to take all of him in.Â
When he starts to move, they both wonder again why they hadnât been doing this in the first place.Â
As with everything else, Peter doesnât waste their time. Even though he revels in how fucking amazing she feels around him, how he canât even remember the last time this felt so good, so right, he picks up a steady pace, fucking into her like itâs the last chance heâll get. He hikes her leg higher on his waist, the new, deeper angle causing Michelle to arch her back, a wet moan ripping through her.Â
âPeterââ She chants his name over and over, unable to say anything else as his hips snap into hers. âFuckââ
âGod, MJ, youâre so fucking good,â his voice is almost a growl, lower and more desperate than heâs ever sounded. âTaking me so well.â
Michelle shouldâve guessed he was one for dirty talk, though she canât say sheâs surprised.Â
Or that she minds.Â
Peter bites back a groan, stilling momentarily as she clenches around him, burying his face in the crook of her neck. Heâs already so close, teetering just on the edge, but heâs filled with a sense of determination at the sting of her nails digging into his shoulders.Â
His hand trails down her stomach, his thumb pressing her clit, scrubbing furiously as he pumps in and out of her. She squeezes him again, head thrown back, slack-jawed as he tilts her hips even further, the new angle causing a string of curses to spill from her lips. Her muscles spasm around him as she comes for a second time, her eyes screwed shut as she clings to him for dear life. His own orgasm crashes over him, and he moans loudly into her skin, holding her to him , fingers digging into her hips as he comes undone.Â
Itâs something MJ canât help but want to see again. And again.Â
He flops down on top of her, his head on her chest as he struggles to catch his breath.Â
Her hand comes to smooth down his curls at the nape of his neck, and she smiles as he shifts his head to look up at her.Â
âGod, fuck No Nut November,â He breathes into her skin.Â
A light laugh bubbles up out of her.Â
He lets out a heavy sigh. âWhat day is it?â He asks.
âNovember fifth.âÂ
He groans, squeezing his eyes shut. âDamn.â He pulls out of her, standing up to throw the condom away, almost missing the bin in the corner of the room.Â
âYou made it longer than I thought you would,â Michelle laughs.
Peter flops down next to her, his eyes narrowed, though thereâs still a smile on his face. âWhat?âÂ
âWell, yeah. I bet Ned that you wouldnât last a week,â she replies, patting him on the chest as she gets up, disappearing into the bathroom.Â
Peterâs eyes widen before he covers them with his hands. âOh. Shit. Ned.â
Heâs still there when she comes back; still naked, too.Â
âNed, doesnât have to know,â MJ says, falling back into the bed with him.Â
Peter peeks out from underneath his arm. âYeah?â
âYeah. We can like, pretend youâre still doing it.â
Thereâs a crooked grin on Peterâs face as he stares at herâa look that makes her insides gooey and heart fuzzy.Â
And she hates how much she doesnât hate it.Â
âAnd when Betty inevitably breaks Ned,â she shrugs. âWe can split the money.â
He shakes his head, amazed and somewhat scandalized. âMJ, youâre a genius.â
Again, she shrugs.Â
âSo, we can keep doingââ He gestures between them, brows raised. ââAnd let Ned lose. The moneyâs ours.â
âRight.â
He lamely sticks his hand out, offering for her to shake on it.
âDeal?â He asks.
She kisses him. âDeal.â
