a cool fun dog fact is that dogs, unlike their wild ancestors, can make facial expressions. they have a number of muscles around their eyes that are unique to domestic dogs and likely have them specifically because they’re domesticated and it allows them to make faces that humans will interpret as communication. notably, dogs do not communicate with other dogs with facial expressions, it’s specifically a thing that likely exists because humans saw it as “oh the dog is cuter/friendlier/sadder” based on the eyes, and the expressions do not necessarily correlate with the emotion a human would get from them. this is where stuff like puppy eyes while begging comes from.
anyway I think this is neat and funny given the main facial expression my dog seems to be capable of is “vague concern”,
