There's something to say about black women especially queer black women (bi/pan) always being masculinized and getting shoved into the friend category in movies/shows. (She's so strong and independent and fierce *finger wag*.... Give her a GIRLFRIEND. She's such a good friend. It's platonic! ). But then those same people never really advocate for those characters to really have any weight in the series/films they just don't want her with their yt fave. I got your tea. Yes, black women can be all of those things but can also need to be loved, protected, understood, and treated softly & kindly . That's not just reserved for the "helpless yt faves".
Julie Plec will still never know peace for doing Bonnie Bennett dirty & Marvel will forever be musty for not giving us Thorkyrie or at the very least Val loudly living her best life.

The more I deep Thor Love and Thunderā¦the more upset I get. So Iām giving my gripes and thoughts. Iāve seen L&T twice now and this second time actually made me upset because itās good but I can see the potential this film has to be better. Spoilers belowā¦
The first issue.
Iām tired of Thor trying to find himself ā¦.enough is enough, itās been 6 films please Iām tired. Letās have a conversation and story about Thor accepting his role as King bc he honestly said f it, Val you take it with her having no prior qualifications (I know she āranā New Asgard during Infinity War/Endgame but that happened off screen soooooo whereās the proof). Thor more or less abandoned the people who he was trying to protect in the previous films. He ended Ragnarok becoming King and accepting that even though he didnāt really want to be king (rather didnāt like the way the monarchy was previously ran). We had a whole movie about Thor becoming and accepting the King role for him to not be Kingā¦alright Marvel. Also while I love Thor becoming a dad at the end of it, the abrupt-ness of it just doesnāt sit right. How is Jane going to tell Gorr and say Love will be looked after knowing sheās dying without even discussing that with Thorā¦now Thor is a single unprepared father, who not even 30 mins ago was having a midlife crisis about not being able to find himself. Lastly, you canāt tell me that from Endgame, everyone else (of the OG3) gets a happy-ish ending where they get to āsettle down with their partner and familyā and all Thor gets is a dead ex gf and a adopted child that he necessarily didnāt wantā¦.pleaseeeeee make it make sense.
Second complaint.
The romance element of the film should have been like Netflixās Someone Great in a sense where the āformer coupleā is cool with not being back together. Where they loved each other and now itās time to move onā¦and *cough cough* looks at Marvel, itās okay for couples to break up and move on. Because no 1. Jane and Thor do not have the chemistry that screams coupleā¦it screams coworkers. And no 2. Thor spent the precious film flirting with Val. Yes Iām a thorkyrie/thorval shipper but based on the interviews, the deleted scenes, Chris and Tessaās chemistry in Ragnarok, and Tessaās acting skills in general, you canāt convince me they wouldnāt be a good couple and that their āromanceā wouldnāt be more compelling juxtaposed with Thor wanting to help his āfirst loveā who is sick bringing up old relationship wounds. They also just suit each other, like very complimentary in the same way as TāChalla and Nakia maybe (idk most of the original MCU couples from phase 1 & 2 are not good together at allā¦just my opinion). Also donāt give me any bs about her being bi, she can still be bi, date women, be with women, and still end up with Thor. Like come on LGBTQ+ representation is more than just gay and lesbian couples. What would have been more compelling was Thor has this ex gf, Jane, who comes back into his life who he didnāt really have closure with who is also dying from cancer who helps him see that he truly is not lost because while he has lost he has also found in the group of people he met in Ragnarok and a connection with Valkyrie.
Third grievance.
JUSTICE FOE GORR. We should have seen this man causing absolute carnage. How is it this man named the God Butcher but we donāt see butcher not one God? This movie also had the potential to clear up some confusion about the tier levels of Gods. Bc Thor is a Norse god but also not a god but an Asguardian alien. The Eternals are the base for the Greek gods but then the Eternals arenāt real. Then the Egyptian gods are actual gods that use humans as avatars. Like letās unpack that a little bit. Maybe Gorr going on a quest to kill all the gods full serial killer vibes presented like a True Detective or 48 Hours-type thing and Thor and co find out about these different levels of Gods through their murders or takes some time to give exposition about the gods helping clear up and connect the āCosmicā sector of the MCU phase 4.

Idk. Iām just talking randomly and needed to get that off my chest.
And I didnāt hate the film by any means, it just could have been better. It was a group project where everyone didnāt pull their weight and ultimately turned in an okay project that actually had a lot of potential. The plot was missing character development and the character development was missing plot. What we got was good but there was no purpose for anything cohesively. The film just had a lot going on to and when trying to fit everything in it lost some of its direction. This movie told the right story the wrong way.

doing this to anyone who says valkyrie acknowledging her love for thor and becoming his queen consort to asgard whilst staying true to her masculine traits is worse and more antifeminist than her becoming the king (š¤¢š¤¢) of new asgard despite not having any qualifications for being so
