“They” have arrived, lol!
So yeah, I got the Thornton fountain pens for $20.05. Why I chose them over the Varsity were because:
More colors for art and writing.
Actually got better reviews overall.
Cheaper by the pen.
More pens. :P
As for the quality, they are definitely the best pens I have ever used. They started writing instantly, no leaking, write solid lines with no bogus skipping or variable color shades, write with no pressure, very smooth... as long as you don’t press too hard. :P You can also flip them upside down (common fountain pen trick) to write even finer lines, though it’s a bit scratchier that way. There’s also no bleeding through typical paper (I tested them on smooth note-taking paper) unless you let a lot of ink flow like what would happen with a Sharpie marker by keeping it in one place too long. So you can still use both sides of the paper. Since you aren’t using any pressure to write, that also means when you use the other side of the paper, there’s no indentations from the pressure you had to use to get a ballpoint or something to write on the other side. (I’ve tore many sheets of paper because of that... In fact, I typically wouldn’t even be able to use both sides of paper with a ballpoint which made me feel like a wasteroo. XD) The yellow is definitely something you wouldn’t write with as it’s a true yellow (Not gold, tan, etc... absolute perfect yellow), not even on dark paper because the color is transparent, but it would be great for coloring or highlighting. The colors themselves are a tad different than what the caps indicate, which is common with any ink writing instrument. So if you’re looking for specific colors, just doodle with them on a scrap piece to see what you get and use accordingly.
Seems like winners to me!
When you wake up from a nap with the munchies so hard, you walk to your local outlet in search of Thornton’s millonarre shortbread.. Fucking baked.
Flatmate just gave me some of her Hot-Cross Bun Easter Egg from Thornton's. It has mixed spice and it's really weird and I can't tell if I like it. It's like there's a chocolate party in my mouth and everyone's really fucking confused.
