Yeah I went DEEEP in the official character design pool XD

I was studying Disney concept art and was like “….i can do that” so have our main 3 in lil lineart line ups!

I shouldn't have put so much thought into a crappy movie but here we are 💁 So we all agree Hunchback 2 is an awful movie? Good. All the more reason to rewrite it! I'm aware that racebending is a pretty controversial topic but Romani!Madellaine makes so much more sense. Continuing the theme of prejudice & hope in the first film.

Unlike canon, Sarouch and Madellaine are half-sibs, showing that blood family can be abusive. Remember they're supposed to be a foil for the Frollo/Quasi dynamic, which failed in the sequel since both are really flat&generic. Sarouch may not have nowhere near as much influence and power Frollo had but he still shaped a lot of who she is. His mistreatment of her led to becoming withdrawn and distrustful of others. She's if Quasimodo lost his hope. Being Romani also strengthens the parallels with Esmeralda: where the former is more distant and stays silent, the latter is fiery and speaks vehemently against injustice.

Slowly but surely Madellaine regains her positivity to the point where she stands up to Sarousch near the end.

Lastly her design in terms of clothes. I always feel like her wearing the exact shade of green Quasi wore was just a lazy way of showing how "alike" they are so I wanted to give her a different color. Red&pink is the best option since it complements green while also showing how she is her own person who don't exist to be a consolation prize. It ll

Once again I looked at concept art from the first movie and followed suit XD

Trying to figure out Marjorie’s scar because there aren’t really any characters in classic/renaissance Disney films that have such large scars (that I know of if you know one plz lemme know) so I sorta took notes from Zuko!
