Bleached is really pleased to announce Thom Stuart for its opening exhibition.  

Thom Stuart, Brisbane Australia, works within classic themes referenced throughout art history—primarily object and landscape painting with a modern slant—to base his practice in the present day. Utilising contemporary and traditional forms of painting and printing, his work aims to convey the battle within the upheaval and contradictions of modern day existence. 

With an 80s coastal upbringing on the far-north coast of New South Wales and a recent stint in London; his work draws heavily on his experience of both native and industrial environments. Surrounded by these environments his work takes influence from everything from graphic surf culture to the unavoidable Wild Style aesthetic. 

The last year has seen the staging of the artist’s first solo exhibition at the independently run Love Love Studios, as well as contributing to a number of group shows, creative projects and completing several large scale outdoor wall paintings. The artist holds a Bachelor of Design from the Queensland College of Art, Griffith University.
