occasionally i see the sentiment along the lines of 'i really liked thl until second scenario/The Reveal, which ruined the whole game for me because all the characters became so unlikable." which i think surprises me a lot in that the point of second scenario is definitely not to make you root for these characters; it's to condemn, in a broader sense, the violence of imperialism and the way it indoctrinates literal children into systematic bloodshed. it's supposed to be brutal; it's supposed to make you feel awful. there's a reason you as a player are kept in the dark so long as you make your decisions, and that's because the characters themselves are kept in the dark as they... well, you get the idea.
not to imply that that sort of narrative Has to be your cup of tea by any means, but i do disagree with the idea that the ultimate goal of a narrative or metric of its quality is the likability of its cast. sometimes that's actually the opposite of the point.
