Yesterday evening, at rehearsal, the director told me I had a Hollywood quality about my performance - big, bold - and that I was doing *everything* right.
This is the first time she is meeting me, the first table read for this group of actors, second run through of the night, the first time she’s seeing me perform *anything* … And it was such sudden and unsolicited compliment, all I could do was smile, and nod!
Like I was so stunned, that I barely remember what she said - I was just so glad she was happy with my work.
I just want to record this moment, for whenever I worry that I’m not enough.
That I’ve got talent, and a willingness to dig deep, and do my best.
Audition tonight. 😩😪😶
Finally able to watch the final cut of the short film I was a part of last year. As in I finally worked up the nerve to watch myself on screen.
God, what a surreal moment.
I’ve done a few plays, but this is the first thing I’ve seen of myself on camera.
It was awkward for me to watch myself - the self-critiquing was unavoidable, of course...
But on the whole, I’m very happy with myself... and encouraged to continue to do more in the new year.
Freefalling by Aurin Squire
"No matter how hard we try to control our destinies, we can only live day by day, moment to moment. Freefalling takes place on an airplane that’s spiraling hopelessly out of control. This was the play of the night. The writing was fast-paced yet emotionally charged. With every passing moment, we are left on the edge of our seats, not knowing what will happen next. But the real strength of this play is the depth with which the characters’ inter-personal relationships are developed. Their heartwarming yet tragic interaction shows us that, even in our darkest hour, there’s still hope.”

Sweetjeebuz I'm so exhausted.
After opening night, I went with my co-stars, most of the folks from the entire show, AND my friends to a nearby pub (opening night tradition) then talked and LAUGHED until my voice was hoarse.
BEST NIGHT.
I have no idea how I managed to go to bed at 1:50am after dropping my friends off, and then be early for work today when I don't live in the city.
This weekend I've scheduled a much needed coma... around the second performance on Saturday night.
They are really going all-out this year! Canada's largest ten-minute play festival, the InspiraTO Festival, is set to showcase the best ten-minute plays from around the globe, featuring local playwrights in Toronto in late May. Over 100 theatre artists are participating in 25 ten-minute plays.
If you will be in the Toronto area from May 29th to June 7th, may I suggest you take in the Blue Show? You can catch me on stage in "Freefalling."
My director complemented me today by saying I have a really bright smile, and I need to show it because it brings a sense of hope to the play. Well then.
