Thrust up against the ragged bark of a skeletonized elm tree, Atlas cowered away from the sterling blade pressed against the center of his neck. He gulped back the vile sickness that wished to erupt from his throat, staring into the russet brown eyes of his attacker. A woman, he noticed, just barely recognizable beyond the splattered indigo pigment that surrounded her eye sockets. She stood motionless, no breath leaving her lips, completely prepared to end his life with no hesitation.

“It looks like you’ve seen a ghost! Poor boy, might as well let ‘em go, Bea.” A charming, joyous voice spoke up from behind the mindless assassin, the lanky frame of an ashen-blonde boy walking into Atlas’ line of sight.

In what appeared to be retaliation to the good-natured command, the razor-edge of the two-foot long sword dug deeper into the flesh stretched over Atlas’ Adam’s apple. A trickle of what could only be bright crimson liquid dripped down and soaked his gray cotton shirt, an uncomfortable moist stain left in its wake.

 “What’s the matta’ with you? Bea, she-she’s harmless really.” The amused stranger struggled to get his words out in between the harsh stifling of bell-like laughter.

Exhausted, lost, and incredulous, Atlas choked out, “I just fell through a metal door and she's already pointing a sword at my throat like I'm goddamn Hitler invading Czechoslovakia!”

( x. ) does your OC like telling stories to kids? how do they go about telling a story?

atlas loves to tell children stories, especially his little sisters. he goes full out - character voices, elaborate hand gestures, sometimes may even act out scenes lol. he’s all about making sure his family has the best childhood they can.

( xi. )  speaking of kids, what is your OC like around children in general?

nervous, like he is around all people, but also sort of in his element bc he knows they won’t judge him based on his inability to sit still. atlas is always worried that he’ll say the wrong thing and then send the kids on a bad path 

( xii. )  how does your OC sleep?

fitfully when there’s a big project or special event happening the next day, but on most nights after an hour-long session of contemplating his existence and the meaning of the world, he sleeps like a rock lmao

( xiii. )  what is your OC like when they dance?

vv clumsy. atlas isn’t normally too uncoordinated but put him on a dance floor and he suddenly has two left feet 

( xiv. )  are there any activities that your OC only does with one other person?

atlas has an activity that he only does with each of his sisters, that way they feel special to him equally. with the older twin he draws stick-figure comic books and with the younger twin he plays completely serious stuff-animal tea parties

atlas will only talk about his likes/dislikes/hobbies when people ask him to, otherwise he will listen enthusiastically to other people’s interests

with awe, happiness, and complete positivity

with absolute respect. even though his parents weren’t around for most of his childhood, they’re doing better at being in his sisters’ lives, which makes him believe they’ve learned how to parent. he respects the growth his mother and father have gone through

5. Do they have any siblings? What’s their names? What is their relationship with them? Has their relationship changed since they were kids to adults?

atlas griffin has two siblings; twin six year old sisters. they’re names are eun ae + eui and atlas is the greatest big brother to them. they were born when he was 15 ish so he went from a teenager almost acting like a parent when his own weren’t around to a protective older brother who doesn’t want them to even scrape a knee. he enjoys games of tea parties and dress up quite often.

6. What were they like at school? Did they enjoy it? Did they finish? What level of higher education did they reach? What subjects did they enjoy? Which did they hate?

atlas was always pretty average at school, never failing but not particularly excelling as he found the atmosphere and environment exhausting. he finished high school and is currently in community college getting a general studies degree! he hated history class but enjoy math/calculus a lot!

7. Did they have lots of friends as a child? Did they keep any of their childhood friends into adulthood?

my poor bby atlas grew up with kids avoiding him, they always got a weird vibe off of him and never tried to interact. so, his only friends are his dog, his magic tricks, and his family.

thank you @honiewrites​ for tagging me :)) i’m doing this for ATLAS GRIFFIN from my main wip THE GRAVEYARD HEIR. this is a long post so beware haha

[ i ] what was the first element of your OC that you remember considering (name, appearance, backstory, etc.?)

either name or appearance

[ ii ] did you design them with any other characters/OCs from their universe in mind?

i created atlas with his surroundings in mind; mainly the kingdom and land he discovers but also with his allies blythe and malachai

[ iii ] how did you choose their name?

i wanted something related to map-making but also that would relate to his character. atlas was the greek titan who was condemned to holding up the celestial heavens for eternity, and atlas my oc holds a pretty heavy burden on his shoulders once he enters the world of craya.

[ iv ] in developing their backstory, what elements of the world they live in played the most influential parts?

atlas’ backstory takes place in the real world—our world so his isolated childhood and growing up around the funeral/death business were both very influential in his character

 [ v ] is there any significance behind their hair colour?

not really, no

[ vi ] is there any significance behind their eye colour?

nope

[ vii ] is there any significance behind their height?

sort of- atlas is 5’9 which is sort of short in his world so it goes to show that height does not equate to mightiness

[ viii ] what (if anything) do you relate to within their character/story?

i always felt alone when i was younger, it didn’t matter how many people i knew in a room or if i shared a conversation with someone, so i relate to atlas in that way

[ ix ] are they based off of you, in some way?

most of my ocs are self-inserts in some way, they all have a little bit of me in them :)

[ x ] did you know what the OC’s sexuality would be at the time of their creation?

i made atlas with the intent that he would always be asexual, i just didn’t know the term for his sexuality when creating him

[ xi ] what have you found to be most difficult about creating art for your OC (any form of art: Writing, drawing, edits, etc.)?

i’m not very skilled with drawing or edit/graphic making so i’d say those

[ xii ] how far past the canon events that take place in their world have you extended their story, if at all?

i’ve got some au’s in my head but i haven’t written any of them down besides little jot notes tbh

[ xiii ] if you had to narrow it down to 2 things that you MUST keep in mind while working with your OC, what would those things be?

he doesn’t have to be witty all the time to be a lovable character

make notes of every personality trait that comes to me while writing

[ xiv ] what is something about your OC that can make you laugh?

how he discovers this other dimension/kingdom— he gets sucked in like a vacuum !!

[ xv ] what is something about your OC can make you cry?

his romantic subplot bc it’s saaaad

[xvi ] is there some element you regret adding to your OC or their story?

can’t think of one so,,,, no

[ xvii ] what is the most recent thing you’ve discovered about your OC?

his magical abilities (teleportation and dimension hopping yo!!!) another one of his powers looks like the gif at the beginning of this post!

atlas loves spending time with his siblings: he has two six year old siblings that are twin girls and he has tea parties and dress-up days with them all the time :))

what was the childhood of your OCs like?

for atlas, the outsider to the kingdom, he was very lonely for most of his childhood as he was an only child and had ADHD which sort-of isolated him from other children. he spent most of his youth making up adventures in his head and acting them out for his parents, who are owners of an up-scale funeral home/crematorium business. he really wanted to be a pirate when he was five but later almost drowned so he gave up on that dream.

for anyone within the kingdom of craya besides the queen, they don’t really remember their childhood bc it was thousands of years ago. 

how did that shape who they eventually become?

having a lonely childhood made him more attentive and protective of his twin baby siblings that came later in his life. as he hasn’t figured out what he wants to do in life bc of his various dreams being crushed, he takes general studies in college but spends most of his time playing with his siblings

21. What is their favorite thing about their personality?

Atlas’ favorite thing about his personality is probably his curiosity; he’s always open to learning new things and discovering the unknown. His curiosity is the one reason he still holds onto the hope of doing something with his life, and it helps with his ADHD in some odd way.
