   “ guy -- guy, what do we do here ?? ” kyle asks, voice wavering just a little.  it’s been a long time since he felt like guy’s rookie partner, but more than ever he does right now.  more than their sector, this is their planet.  and there’s nothing to defend because the wreckage is still smoldering.  kyle feels useless in this moment, finds himself wondering if there’s a ring that lets you turn back time.  “ help me, man.  i’m drawing a blank. ”  how do they get to business as usual ??  how are they ever going to feel right leaving earth again ??

  colin never goes to metropolis.  and he’s reminded, now, why he doesn’t like to.  the buildings are so tall and shiny that it kinda makes his head spin.  the whole city seems too open && too claustrophobic all at once.  gotham is a shit-hole, but it’s colin’s shit-hole.  and as cool as it is that he totally saw superman fly over about five minutes ago, he’s already ready to hope the nearest bus home.  not before he gets the very particular crankshaft he needs, though.  irritation and anxiety make his voice crack a little, makes it sound like he’s back in the earliest stages of puberty -- “ i have no idea how to get anywhere.  do you know where lou’s autoparts is ?? ” he asks with the very last of his already wane stoicism.
