I know that all the storyboards they showed at the end of the wish documentary were what got the most attention, but can we talk about the storyboard for the song "This wish"?
(I will definitely use this as a reference when I anime "This wish" KOW version, this scene reminds me too much of a part of @annymation rewrite when Asha is also looking for a star)
The petals and the wind *chef kiss*
I love this storyboard (If anyone knows the name of the artist who made it, please pass the name)
This was done before seeing Wish, but I was already in love with the reprise of This Wish. Seeing the scenario play out in the movie was very emotional.
At the time, I visualize the keyblade master’s wish or prayer in his hour of need miraculously answered across the realities. Unfortunately I forgot Riku was supposed be in Unreality as well.
🧶Star learns that it’s harder to play with yarn in his human form, and Asha finds it pretty funny 😂 (And yes, he can still float as a human. And shapeshift back into a star whenever he wants).🧶

Asha walks ahead of her parents and her goat, who tramps behind them. Head hung low, gripping the blanket Amaya wrapped her up in, the only thing giving her comfort.
“We can always try next time?” Her father tried reassuring her. “I'm sure Magnifico will give you a re-wish ceremony.”
“I highly doubt he will…” she sulked, gripping the blanket even tighter. “He’s probably upset, and I don’t even know what happened to me back there!” she huffed, the thought still lingering in her mind like a leech. She looked at the floor, the tiled cream patterns of the Rosas crest, then at the sky above. Sakina places a hand on Asha’s shoulder hoping her comfort could weigh off the stress from her daughter. “Common now you need to rest.” She takes Asha’s blanket from her. “Let's not worry about the wishing ceremony for now and head back home-”
“No!” Asha refuted in a sharp tone, making Sakina’s eyes widen and her eyebrows furrowed at her daughter's harsh tone. Asha takes a deep breath, managing to calm down. “not…right now, I need to be somewhere else..” She then walked a few steps ahead of her parents, then advanced on her pace, which turned into a full sprint out of the main city gates.
“Asha!” her mother called out. Valentino galloped after his owner, his hooves moving faster as he ran.
Asha made her way onto Pinocchio plaza past the housings and outside the gates where Hamlet sits but she didn’t proceed to her village instead she turned left then bolted through the thick towering trees of Beech forest then atop of a small bridge across calm stream waters and slowed down.
(Heres my rewrite to this wish to fit my story)
Isn't a wish supposed to set you free?
Well, why do I feel so weighed down by it?
If I could show him everything I've learned
Open his eyes to all I’ve showed him
Would my dream be granted then
But when I speak, they tell me, "Sit down"
But im done waiting on a wish thats never comming
Oh, this is where I've been
But it's not where I belong
And I may be young, but I must sing this song
She wandered through the thickets, Valentino following behind Asha as she turned back at Rosas. Staring at the top of the tower where the lights faded in the windows surrounding the castle. Her head then lifted towards the high leaves blocking out the night sky and a lone star peeking through the protective verdure.
So I look up at the stars to guide me
And chase after what I've longed for
If knowing what it could be is what drives me
Then let me be the first to stand in line
So I make this wish
To have something more for me than this
So I make this wish
To have something more for me than this
Asha placed her hands close to her chest. Feeling the soft beating of her heart inside. Blue birds that were chirping on the ground flew past her as she sharply lowered her arms.
Hey, yeah, yeah, yeah
Hey, yeah, yeah, yeah, ah-ah
More than this, oh-ah-ah-ah
Asha held out her hand in front of her, purple butterflies slowly formed in different sizes in her palm waiting for her to set them free. She circled her hand in a semi circle and let the fluttering insects fly, they surrounded her as a thank you and fluttered on into the sky for a short amount of time until they burst into tiny particles that rained down on her.
She then sauntered towards a few houses near the forest looking up at a large mural of Magnifico holding up the same orb he had plastered on around the kingdom with people kneeling and begging in worship as if he was a god.
I wanted to expand my mind in spells
I did what I was told when my mentor told me so
Now I've got all of this magic in my bones
But there’s still an aching in my head about to overflow
Asha began to ascend up a nearby tower. The bell on top was silent as if it also slept in the night. The girl began to climb the stairs feeling the gentle breeze brush against her skin.
'Cause I've got reservations and hesitations
On where I should even begin
Please stars help me, give me a sign
But I'm not, no, I'm not trying to whine
She wandered around the small landing, venting her frustration out to the wind like they could hear her cries and puzzled thoughts.
'Cause I've got reservations and hesitations
On where I should even begin
Please stars help me, give me a sign
But I'm not, no, I'm not trying to whine
If I could just be pointed in any given direction
On where to go and what to do
My head is shaking, but my dream’s held high
The way you always taught me to
Her eyes stopped on the tree hanging on the cliffside in the distance, the words of her late grandfather Sabino playing in her head, his gentle words bringing her mind comfort. “If you ever need help call on the wishing star”
Her focus was on the star watching her from the tower as a hope she never thought of having sparkled inside her. She hurriedly descended the tower and began her run through the forest again, the trees guiding a path to the wishing star above.
So I look up at the stars to guide me
And chase after what I've longed for
I'm sure there will be challenges that find me
But I can take them on one at a time
Asha began to climb the hanging tree, she pushed away the leaves blocking her from seeing the constellations twinkling above. Outstretching her arms, feeling the ribbons wrapping around her arms and fingers in a soothing way as the wind began to pick up, as they danced to her heavenly voice.
So I make this wish
To have something more for me than this
So I make this wish
To have something more for me than this
Hey, yeah, yeah, yeah (so I make this wish)
Hey, yeah, yeah, yeah, ah-ah (to have something more)
More than this, oh, ah-ah-ah
She pulled her hands close to her chest protecting her heart and ✨ her eyes to feel the last breath of wind. Her song was about to come to a close as she let the stars hear her plea one more time.
So I make this wish
To have something more for me than this
Asha dropped her arms down so the wishing star could hear her wish from below. She took a moment to admire the beaming constellation over-shinning the other stars above. A bright light suddenly blinds Asha, causing her to shield her eyes with her arm from the radiating beam that wakes up the whole town in their deep slumber, even reaching the castle.
.─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───.
A light beamed across the monarch's bedroom, waking Amaya in the process. She gazed at the light ahead, shielding her eyes with the palm of her hand, slowly making her way to the oriel window to investigate the source of this disruptive light.
“Amaya, darling, please shut that off..” a dozy Magnifico asked, turning to the other side, away from Amaya.
“It's not me, mi-rey, it's coming from outside,” she cleared up, looking at the light that had dimmed a bit, allowing her to look properly.
“What is going on?” he said, annoyed. He threw the covers off himself and stood up from the bed to investigate the matter. The moment he walked towards the window, his eyes widened and his pupils dilated, and he ran towards the glass. “Is that... the wishing star!” He gasped in horror. Before the queen could say anything, her husband was already trotting down the stairs to the office room.
“Mi-rey!” she called out to her king, pursuing him. “Please calm down and let's sort this out in the morning,” she pleaded to Magnifico, who was already ransacking the room with piles of books from his array of shelves.
“Amaya, you don’t understand! That wishing star is a threat to our kingdom!” he emphasized. Still rummaging through the abundance of books until he finally landed on one huge leather book with black stars on the cover. “Aha, this is the one!” he gripped the book firmly in his hands and walked over to his desk, slamming the book down hard, making Amaya flinch. He skimmed through each page, reading each paragraph, and each image.
“Found anything?” she grumbled sluggishly, peering over his shoulder, curious about what he discovered. An illustration of a star emitting yellow rays and a person praying to it below. “In rare circumstances, when a star is wished on, it can come down to the wisher to help grant their wish. Once that wish is granted, they return to the sky within a few days.” she read. Amaya glanced at her husband's glued stare at the page as she continued. “This phenomenon occurs when the star emits the brightest light of all that can blind a whole kingdom with its radiance as a response to the wishers desire,” Amaya pondered to herself for a moment. “Who would even dare..”
“I don’t know…but what if it's that little village Asha’s from?” He theorized. “They always talk and yap about the stars, maybe one of them…”
“How could you be so sure? They fear you mi rey; they're not stupid,” She reminded him, stroking his robe with her hand until finally concluding their speculation. “What if it's Asha?”
Magnifico looked at her with wide eyes and furrowed eyebrows, taking offense, “How dare you accuse my student of such a heinous act? She would never!”
“Who knows..” his wife tapped the table behind her with her long nails, making a repetitive noise. “What if I'm right?” she tilted her head, mocking her husband with an ear-to-ear smile, and a rested expression in her eyes. Magnifico backed away from her, still not believing a word she said.
“Amaya…fetch me my book, now!” he demanded with a deep voice, changing the conversation. He shut the book about stars, bringing it with him, and immediately made his way to the wishing room, revealing all the wishing orbs above behaving recklessly.
“What's going on with the wishes?” Amaya questioned, noticing their strange behavior, jumping up and down in the air. Probably has something to do with the star she thought out loud.
“Amaya, the book!” He ordered her again.
The queen rolled her eyes, shooting a spell at a glass encasing a brown leather book with a silver dragon curling an emerald green stone in the middle. The book magically answered, blasting towards Amaya’s direction as she caught it with ease with one hand.
“Here you are darling..” She handed it to him in an unmannered fashion. Magnifico snatched it from her, quickly flipping through the pages with his magic. “What's your intention here?” she questioned.
“If that wishing star does come down,” He replied slowly, turning to her. “I will make sure no one can wish upon it again!”
Lil thoughts: Apologies for the long wait for this chapter I was quite busy with stuff. Anyways I wanted to rewrite this wish to fit my story and I did change the lyrics of "something more for us" to "something more for me" since this is mainly Asha's wish and desire and she hasn't discovered the truth about Magnifico yet. Im not really the best at song writing 😭. Thanks for reading and see you in chapter 5 🥳
