After sitting with it a day, i have a lot to say about “Valles Marineris” (about the cringy dialogue, the lazy writing, the pacing that was at once rushed and slogging, the systematic assassination of Captain Pike, the absolute travesty of an ending), but I’ll just say this: “Valles Marineris” is what happens when you pay more attention to gimmicks than to themes and characters.
#no I do not think Pike made the wrong choice.
