so they closed down that school and then called in extra cops to my school

NYC Day 3

Yesterday may have only been 10,000 steps according to my phone, but it was still a jam-packed day. We had a late start, waking up to the sound of renovations on the floor above us. Our first stop was Lincoln Plaza to see the building where many stars have performed. We stopped to take a photo in front of the fountain before continuing on to the Brooklyn School.

We had a dance workshop with Rob and Dana. It took us 2 hours to learn a 2 minute song from Thoroughly Modern Millie from Dana. This showed us how much time goes into every show. It tired us out and gave us a new appreciation for our favorite Broadway shows. Then Rob gave us an educational concert showing off his amazing voice before we departed.

We traveled to Manhattan for a marketing event for the Winchendon School Brooklyn. We all got some delicious food in our stomachs before heading off to our show.

We went to the Music Box theatre to see Dear Evan Hansen. It was an amazing experience. Afterwards we stage-doored and got our Playbills signed by Noah Galvin. He was super nice to all of the fans there.

NYC Day 2

Yesterday we had an amazing jam packed day filled with 20,000 steps. We traveled to the Brooklyn school, we might have gone the wrong way a few times, but we arrived in one piece. 

We had a productive workshop in a large space at the Brooklyn School. Caroline and Martha were super supportive as we tried to feel out a scene from Macbeth, The car warm-up was something I hope will be implemented into other vocal warm-ups I do in the future. I liked feeling out the songs as an animal especially because everyone is so judgement free.

Next Mr. Duncan took us on a tour of the Brooklyn School’s building and saw the plans for some of the things that will hopefully transform there. The roof had an amazing view and I hope that when I go back to visit in a few years there will be a slide up there. Mr. Duncan also took us on a walk around the neighborhood and to a cafe called The Market where he treated us to dumplings and tea. 

We traveled to the Brooklyn Bridge where we took the treacherous journey across. It actually felt a little warmer than when we were walking in the city. The view was beautiful and it’s something I would love to do again because it really makes you feel like you’re a part of something

Then we visit Alexander Hamilton at his grave at Trinity Church, I will come back soon with flowers for Phillip. 

We had some free time in Chinatown after saying goodbye to Madame Peterson. Teagan, Kathryn, and I went to Blik because Teagan wanted to look for a specific watercolor palette. 

Today we drove to New York City to enjoy the Broadway experience. We got to the Airbnb and moved into a small apartment. We took our first subway trip and successfully got to the Drama Bookstore. It’s was so much fun and I could’ve spent all day there. The energy was a loving theatre people vibe. Then we walked around to Times Square and Rockefeller center and saw St. Patrick’s Cathedral. I lit one of the candles at the church and said a little prayer because I thought since I was there I should experience it. The cathedral is so beautiful and calming. Then we got groceries and cane back to the apartment for the night.

So far loving NYC. So excited for tomorrow.

I’m currently pulling my scenes for my show together into one document. This helps me see where I need to add more and makes everything feel really pulled together. I still have to work on the ending, but I’m not sure how I want it to end.
