Toronto cousin duo The Man Who arose earlier this year with a compelling song named Bet On You. New single This High proves they have a knack for telling dark love stories with their gritty rock and sooty pop. The Man Who sweeps us away once again with a taut brooding burst of their genre defying hybrid sound. Their alt pop and stormy rock is also endowed with a riveting hip hop beat and garnished with a whole lot of vivid electronica. We’d rather not come down from “This High”, a powerful anthem reminiscent of other genre bending acts like Missio, The Neighbourhood, and Sir Sly. The Man Who says of their song:  “This track is about a high, and the way in which it can consume us to the point where nothing else matters. We are cousins who began writing together in a basement, driven by a desire to challenge the boundaries between rock and pop. Our music reflects this experimental approach in its sound and tells the stories we have collected along the way.

I love this song so much, and it’s a must-listen when I’m writing. It hits the sweet spot of bittersweet yearning so perfectly.
