(Wilhelm) Ropke rejected the materialism, utilitarianism and “economism” of the liberal or libertarian economists, persons who had forgotten “that people do not live by cheaper vacuum  cleaners alone but by other and higher things which may wither in the shadow of giant industries and monopolies.” He decried the “cult of personality” and the worship of an abstract “standard of living” as disorders of “spiritual perception.” In place of Homo Economicus, he posited Homo Religious, or man created in the image of God, as the proper foundation of economic theory.

A Peasant Manifesto asserted that the “peasants themselves should control marketing, credit, and the supply of agricultural equipment by their institutions, democratically organized.” The economist (Virgil) Madgearu praised the peasant cooperative, “which guarantees a maximum return and an organization of sales which, by doing away with intermediaries, gives the villager the whole value of his produce.” In 1919, Bulgaria’s agrarian government created the Grain Consortium, a cooperative designed to raise and stabilize prices. It also chartered cooperative banks, resembling credit unions, to provide low-interest loans to farmers. And it established fishing cooperatives, which controlled the sale of fishing rights and supplied credit for new equipment.

We want intelligence to be in the service of a good soul and a strong man. In this we are not inventing anything, we are going back to the Greeks who were able to establish that perfect balance in their men in the most glorious period of its history. So I said that this principle is as old as the culture itself. Unfortunately men have abandoned these roads, but we want them back, because we believe that's the truth and because we believe that is the path that will lead our people to greatness and happiness because they fight.

Equal treatment of women and men within the family, the sacramental character of marriage, respect for individual freedom, certain concepts of property and labor relations, as well as many other Christian standards are not shared by other religions. So clear is this that the so-called Western Civilization stems from the expansion of Christianity in Europe and then in America, and Eastern Civilization is supported by other moral standards of other religions.
