Humans become the Fae of the Darksiders universe
Crazy thought but I bet:
- Post the (premature) Apocalypse, very few Humans dare to run around openly, so seeing one is as almost rare as it was before the Apocalypse
- Theyâre as likely to help you as they are to hinder you, if you do ever encounter one.
- They keep their âtrueâ names hidden. Instead they introduce themselves by a trait, nickname or other form of alias. Some of the old superstitions about not giving your name to the devil stuck and it even carried over to angels and other races.
- They seem to be in control of a strange new magic that defies all logic and law. No one realises that itâs just a mixture of what little magic the humans could learn from Fury and technology.
- They spirit people away, just like the fairies in the old stories do. That those who get kidnapped get experimented on, is unknown or unspoken. But all who manage to return (are released) are always disoriented and confused at the passage of time -thanks to the drugs used on them to alter their perception of time. Some swear itâs only been a day when an entire century had passed or vice versa.
- Those that come back also donât act as they âshouldâ any more. They move âwrongâ for a lack of a better word. And they know how to solve puzzles that used to be beyond them or refuse to go near a puzzle ever again.
- If you offend them they wonât confront you directly, but they will make you miserable by playing tricks on you, disorienting you with strange sounds or sights.
- But if you somehow help them or endear yourself to them (even if you are a demon), you will find strange stones or trinkets appearing in your path. It is wise to accept them but donât acknowledge them directly or they may cease.
- If you hear them call you, donât answer. As vulnerable as they may sound, the trap that awaits can be crueller than any torture in Hell.
