The idea of Alice being aware on some level that Daniel is a closet case even before they get married is crazy esp bc it’s not like HE knows huh. I almost prefer that to her having no idea what it is that makes him so distant, bc I think it actually grants her more agency and humanizes her if she knew that maybe she shouldn’t stay with this guy, and then she did anyway.
Like I’m used to feeling bad for Alice in the armandaniel fics she appears in, and I probably still would either way bc Daniel can be a piece of work, but her knowing that Daniel “”struggles”” w his sexuality??? It’s such a good layer to add. Bc also, frankly, the wives of men like that usually do know to an extent. But they don’t necessarily want to believe it. And maybe they let themselves be convinced, be persuaded that no, really, that’s all in the past, it’s not like that, etc. But they always kind of know.
