Exclusive Champagne of the Oscars. And the winner is?
Chef-to-the-stars, Wolfgang Puck, is pairing Theinot Brut Rose ($41) and Thienot Brut ($32) champagnes for some of Hollywood’s biggest elites. Oscar winners and nominees will sit down on Sunday at the Governor’s Ball prior to the ceremonies to enjoy two relatively affordable champagnes. Hopefully, these beverages can help them to relax before presenting awards in front of millions of people, winning and freaking out during their acceptance speech in front of millions of people, or losing in front of millions of people. Oh yeah, to those who don’t win, remember, “It’s an honor just to be nominated.”
Our two champagne nominees are French competitors from Champagne and not sparkling wines. I have tried both and they are equally good. For the record, I must admit that I am biased towards roses. Different than the Oscars, which are the subjective opinions of the Academy, these bubbly gems have been laboratory tested for over a hundred health, taste and aromatic chemical compounds. Our chemistry instruments tell us how many calories, sugars, heavy metals, etc. are present, then our powerful statistical software mines the data and tabulates the results.
So, while you are enjoying the Oscars with friends and family, remember that our health and taste ratings are based on science and statistics. We cannot predict the best picture of the year in our lab, but we can provide you with precise information about which wines taste like other wines (Copy Cat) and which wines are healthier than others.
So without further ado, according to Our Academy of Laboratory Sciences, the winner is…Thienot Brut Rose by a razor thin margin. Its Healthy Rating is 3.2 out of 5 stars versus its esteemed competitor, the straight up Brut, at 3.1 stars.
While the Academy won’t show you the raw data (wouldn’t that be cool), we can. The major details for each champagne are as follows, and as you can see it’s really a dead heat as they are virtually the same champagnes:
We hope you enjoy the Oscars! And, if you want to drink like a star, you can’t go wrong with either of these champagnes. “It really is an honor just to be nominated.” Maybe?
For those of you, including me, who are not invited to the Oscar ball, and who do not have access to either of these champagnes, consider our top 3 healthiest champagnes:
1. Veuve Clicquot Brut Champagne
2. Taittinger Brut Champagne
3. Piper-Heidsieck Brut Champagne
Good luck to the nominees and enjoy the show!
