In Greek Mythology, the divine personifications of the winds are closely linked to horses. Lots of Greek gods are linked to horses, honestly. The anemoi in particular have been shown as horses, given horses in sacrifice, and Zephyrus fathered Achilles’ immortal stallions Balius and Xanthus. Pliny the Elder also says that mares facing the wind become impregnated, and that their offspring are the fastest of all horses. One of these breeds descended from the winds was the Spanish Thieldon. They didn’t have wind & storm powers, but the name was there for the taking.
