"You are unworthy. Unwanted. You give everything to others, and more, but they don't even miss you now that you're gone." "You are unloved. Unable to find anyone who thinks you're even vaguely attractive. You love Tony Stark-" At this Don gasped, but then hung his head in acceptance. Everything else they said was true. Why shouldn't this be? "You are too weak to say anything. You sit on the sidelines and watch him parade girl after pretty girl in front of you, just so that you can spend time with him, and he doesn't even see you as a friend, just as a doctor. He knows you so little, he has not noticed your replacemen-" The torrent of torment was interrupted by a loud crash, followed by a lot of shouting. Don put all his energy into raising his head. Somewhere, a suit hummed into life. It was Tony. He had come to rescue him! It wasn't true! Tony had seen that he wasn't being himself, and had come to find the real Don Blake. Perhaps he had even brought his cane, and Don would be able, finally, to fight the bodies attached to those voices. He listened intently as the voices came further down the corridor towards his small cell, set into a cupboard in the wall of the corridor, but they passed his door. What was going on? Surely his door was labelled with the contents, and Tony wouldn't just pass him by. It sounded like Thor and Loki were with him too, and a voice he didn't recognise. The mystery stranger was understandable, but surely his brothers wouldn't just miss him... He was wrong. They missed him, instead focussing on Tony's pretty assistant. When finally the stranger slammed the button to release him, they didn't even wait. Muscles wasted from the long hours spent completely stationary, Don was unable to get away. All he could manage was a weak "Help!" which drifted away from him ineffectually as he heard Thor's plan to blow up the control room.
