Frank doesn’t fall in love at first sight, per se, but it’s fair to admit that he’s fairly taken with Melissa King the moment he sets eyes on her. He turns up late to his biochem lecture in mismatched socks that are probably overdue for a wash and clutching a can of Red Bull like it’s going to save him. He makes it in just before Professor Robby (Robinavitch, really, but he grimaces every time someone tries to call him that, so Robby it is), throwing himself into the nearest chair to the door and unpacking in record speed. He prays to a god that he isn’t even sure exists that his 27% battery is good enough to get him through the next 90 minutes before he can run home and charge between classes, and is actively considering what meals he can parse together out of frozen chicken breasts, two different kinds of pasta and a head of broccoli he picked up from Stop n Shop on a whim when his train of thought is interrupted by a soft voice. “Hello!” She says happily. “I don’t think we’ve met, I’m Melissa. Everyone calls me Mel, though.” No, Frank thinks as he lays eyes on her for the first time. We definitely haven’t met. Because if we had, we’d be married with six dogs. Or maybe not six, maybe that’s excessive, but definitely two at least. And we’d be living together in a house with a yard and the sun would shine through the trees and make your Rapunzel-esque hair fucking glow, and I’d never ask for anything again in my life. (...maybe Frank fell a little in love at first sight).
