“And we shouldn’t!” Zuko ran his shaking hands through his hair. “We can’t – We can’t ruin what we have.”
Aang bit his bottom lip. “But what can we possibly have if we aren’t honest with each other?” He cupped Zuko’s face with his hand, not missing how his friend leaned ever so slightly into his touch. “Shouldn’t we stop pretending nothing has changed?”
Zuko’s gaze was fixated on Aang’s lips. Finally, he whispered, “It’s easier to pretend.”
Aang shrugged. “Maybe it is now.” He drops his hand. “But not for much longer. You know that.”
Zuko didn’t respond. Instead, he closed his eyes, leaning to press his forehead against Aang’s.
The fifth time they kiss, it is with passion, and with the knowledge that there is no going back.

maizula and zukaang?

Maizula is such a spicy ship, I love it! While I haven't explored it much, I think their dynamic is extremely interesting. And I will admit that it's surprising to me that a large swath of the fandom ships Tyzula when Maizula is right there and is (in my opinion) the superior wlw ship within the group of dangerous ladies simply because there is so much to work with. You can write Mai and Azula being a thing before she got together with Zuko... which just adds so many layers to their interactions, Mai choosing Zuko over Azula, etc. And Mai being one of the only people who isn't afraid of Azula - who rebelled against her in smaller ways all throughout their time together - that's such a compelling relationship to explore over someone who idolized her like Ty Lee. I really should look into more Maizula fics and art because they are a fascinating pair.
As for Zukaang, it is such an S-tier ATLA ship! The shippers are actually the best people in the fandom and really seem to be the ones who understand Zuko and Aang as individual characters the most. I'm not super invested in Zukaang personally, but I completely understand it. It makes sense narratively and thematically, and their story and relationship within the show is one of my favorites. Zukaang honestly deserves more love and should be the most popular mlm ship in the fandom!!!

absolutely. i am a very soft-hearted person when it comes to people complimenting my fics T.T genuinely every comment on broken pieces still belong had me in tears or close to it because i poured a Lot into that fic and it meant so much to receive positive feedback, especially because so many of those comments were from my friends! god im gonna start crying just thinking about it T.T also, numerous comments on There's a Fine, Fine Line had me very emotional. so many people told me how they'd been searching for a flash-centric story like what i wrote; how much they appreciated my portrayal of his character, his interests, and his family life; and probably best of all were the comments where people were just incredibly excited that i headcanoned him as dyslexic and included that headcanon in the fic (be it because they were dyslexic, knew people who had dyslexia, etc.). like, every time i go reread the comments on either of those stories i just get Overwhelmed with feelings
also, special shoutout to literally every comment @drowning-in-cacophony has ever left on any of my fics. half the time her comments are more beautiful and articulate than my fic itself! love you queen 💛

20. What’s your favorite part about the fanfiction writing process?
handwriting my first drafts! i love that im able to write (just about) wherever i want, i love that i don't put as much pressure on myself for the draft to be perfect (bc i can just make a note in the margin for anything i want to add/change/etc.), i love that i get to use COLORFUL PENS in NICE NOTEBOOKS,, it's all around a fun process and i strongly recommend it to everyone
21. What’s your least favorite part about the fanfiction writing process?
typing my drafts, lmao. that's the time when i actually have to make the changes i noted for myself, which isn't always easy. and also typing can just start to feel laborious after a bit.
35. How much has writing fic changed your life?
an embarrassing amount, probably! i don't think i would have realized how much i love writing and english/literature studies if i hadn't started writing fic. i've made so many friends through fic, too (literally ambi and i started talking bc we both wrote flash thompson-centric fics, read the other's fic, and immediately Fell In Love and i cannot imagine not having her in my life now). although you well know i've made friends through fic, #hivemind ;) so yeah!! truly embarrassing!! but i love writing fic and i love my friends i've made through fic VERY VERY MUCH!! 🥰💛
12 - favorite character to write about this year - Oh this is so difficult. Can I pick more than one? I had such a wonderful time conceptualizing and bring Dolma, Aang's mother, to life. But also writing Suki and Ty Lee was such a joyful experience. And I got to write angry Katara as well which came much easier than I thought it would. But if I had to pick just one - Suki.
14 - a fic you didn’t expect to write - My most recent fic, which is a WIP, came as a surprise. I saw a picture of two women in hanfu and suddenly came up with an entire plot about Suki being Zuko and Ty Lee's bodyguard. Sometimes you just have to roll with an idea.
21 - most memorable comment/review - I love that I keep getting this question so I can continue to shower my friends with love. Honestly your comment on Baobao was so kind because you took the time to go through and pick out and quote your favorite moments and explain why you liked them. It was so meaningful and continues to make me smile whenever I read or think about it.
23 - fics you wanted to write but didn’t - I just have the fic about Aang's grief that I wish I could have finished in time for Aang Week this year, but other than that, I accomplished what I hoped to accomplish! I finished Amma and Baobao which were both pretty large undertakings in terms of research and plot, and I managed to get out The Riot's Gone in time for Kataang Week which was awesome.
25 - a fic you read this year you would recommend everyone read - yeobo by @irresistible-revolution. What a fic. I haven't stopped thinking about it since she published it.

The closest answer I can give is "Confronting the Enemy" (x)
This feeling is mostly in retrospect. I'm surprised nowadays that I ever even bothered to write a fic for the sequel trilogy.
The reason I wanted to write it in the first place is ultimately from dissatisfaction. I disliked how vague the sequels were (among many things) with Kylo Ren's fall to the dark side and how his mind worked, I hated how the fandom treated Loan Tran and Rose Tico, and I was starting have problems with the trilogy as a whole. TLJ remains the strongest of the three, but given its competition that's not saying much.
The fic is, "What if Kylo accepted Rey's offer in TLJ?" My answer was to let Rose give him a piece of her mind. This interested me because Kylo would see her as 'less' than the others. Not a leader, not a fighter, not a Jedi, just an ordinary technician. Who the fuck is she to barge into my cell and tell me off? But Rose stands her ground and earns a sliver of respect from the former wannabe Sith.
I don't regret writing the fic, despite how unpopular it is. I'm just surprised in retrospect that I spent as much time on a source material I came to dislike more and more as time went on.
