"Hello, yet again. Just like all my other years at Hogwarts, I will be starting this journal to record all of my experiences and thoughts. Last year I had a hard time keeping up with my journaling, but I will be more organized and studious this time!

Upon arriving at the school, I was so very excited to see Eren and Mikasa! I wasn't able to find them on the Hogwarts Express, and I was so disheartened from not seeing them over the summer. However, I was only able to get a glimpse of them during the feast, before we were ushered away to our dormitories. And just like that, the school year began. I went the whole first week without seeing Eren and Mikasa…it seemed our schedules just never aligned  I admit, I was rather depressed and frustrated that I wasn't able to see them…But alas, I found Mikasa leaving the Great Hall one evening, and Eren found me in the library the same night! They're just as wonderful as always…Mikasa is a prefect now, and Eren is getting into trouble per the usual…We all have Muggle Studies together, but the professor postponed the first two weeks of classes because of illness…I am so excited to have a class with them! The days seem so much better when I'm with them...

I was able to spend some time with my good friend Bertholdt as well. He's just as sweet as always and such great company. He introduced me to Alchemy! He's taking the Alchemy class (which I am still unable to take until I become a sixth year - and even then, it's only available when there's enough demand!) and it's so fascinating! He's agreed to practice it with me and I'm so happy! … Bertl also said I was amazing the other day. 'Amazing'…I thought it was such a weird idea…to think of myself as 'amazing'. But surely he had meant it…I had to admit, I was quite flustered and grateful for such a compliment. A kind I haven't received before. I said he was amazing too - which of course, he is - but he seemed to dismiss the prospect. He's always so down on himself, and it makes me sad to see him so. He really is a great guy and a great friend. I hope he sees it himself one day...

I've met some new people too. Well, of course they aren't 'new' here but they've become new company to me. I've officially met this Slytherin girl named Annie. She's a prefect, and she caught me out past curfew (although, I think she was scouting the castle a bit early. I hadn't slept that long!) and she walked me to my dorm. She wasn't unpleasant, but she was quiet and a bit intimidating. She kept looking at me with this strange look as if she were trying to figure me out. She agreed to not dock me points if I helped her with her homework. Sure enough, the next day she asked to help me with Runes, and during our little study session, she actually laughed, which was strange considering she seemed so cold and deadpan. We have quite a few classes together, and she always seems so alone. Then again, she seems quite content in solitary. She's not unpleasant company though…I wouldn't mind studying with her again.

Another unlikely encounter that I had was with Jean Kirschtein. He's a Slytherin. He and Eren have been quarreling and fighting since first year. Other than that, I don't know him very well. He wore a silly sailor's hat around one day and found me staring (it's not the usual fashion here). I told him it was cute (it really was!) and we had a short conversation about how he apparently has a boat now. (I don't know, it was quite bizarre). And we spoke in potions the other day when I saw him drawing. He's a beautiful artist! He's very talented! He's also agreed to help me with my hexes for D.A.D.A. He seems rather nice, to be fair…I don't see why he and Eren fight all the time…I mean, he can't be all bad if he's best friends with Marco Bodt! (Who is, the nicest person in existence at this school. I'm glad we're still roommates!)

Ah. I have much more to say! But, this entry is getting rather lengthy and I've agreed to meet Eren out in the Quidditch field. He's going to teach me how to ride a broom again. (I was never very good at it first year). I'm quite nervous about it…But it's always fun when I'm with Eren. (◠‿◠)

Okay, this was mildly annoying. She'd been going to meet Eren and Armin in the library for studying (she'd hoped to pick Armin's brain over the Ancient Runes they had to have memorize and Eren had wanted help on that DADA paper), but she'd ended up stopped by, all people, Ayers. She knew Ayers, of course. A troublemaker through and through, but she'd learned that since Ayers kept her distance from most people, she learned a lot from the gossips. As a prefect, Mikasa had actually planned on using the girl as a resource for potential trouble (while also going through the request from her teacher to keep an eye on the troublemaker because she had a job now to fulfill). But still, she'd been startled when Ayers actually sought her out to speak with her. And what she said was... disconcerting.

Apparently, Fubar, a sixth year, was more anxious than normal. She'd tried to ask more about it, but Ayers kept vague. Simply that one night, he'd been anxious over something and then reacted incredibly defensively when confronted. 'I thought about going to the teachers, but I decided it seemed better to go to a prefect', Ayers had explained them. 'Out of my hands now.' And straight into hers. Now that she knew, and was apparently the only one who did, she felt obligated to check it out, because, while Fubar was no friend of hers, Armin liked him, and she'd do almost anything for Armin. It did earn her some thanks from Ayers (thus letting her extract an information favor from her fellow gryffindor), but now she had to approach the naturally anxious Fubar instead of studying with her two dearest people.
