“When is the last time you ate?”

Tricky question. 

He’d skipped lunch because he’d promised Haibara to help him with his calculus assignment. Dinner had been met with similar dismissal, and they’d left sometime after that night. They’d found themselves by the Sumida river at three in the morning and finished by five, exiting the basement of a squat apartment block with the skies dark and the sun still settled stubbornly behind the mountains.

It was embarrassing that he was falling through on such basic notions of self-care. That Satoru of all people felt the need to point it out was only added salt rubbed into the wound. Suguru scowled, irritated from the lack of sleep and suddenly feeling defensive, the acrid taste of the curse still lingering on his tongue. 

Miguel nearly choked on his corn potage, coming close to dropping the delicate soup spoon accompanying his katsu curry lunch set. After gingerly daubing at the corner of his mouth with a napkin, he sighed and pushed the tray of food away from his place setting.

"You really aren't one for subtlety, huh?" he muttered under his breath, referring to the other sorcerer's enthusiasm and sheer volume whilst meeting in a public setting. None of the other diners seemed to notice or care (very much, anyway) about the innocently blasé-acting man across from him, sparing Gojo a brief glance before turning back around to continue their own meals.
