Listen, i can't get over that parallel you just giffed. Or more specifically, over that pause Eddie makes before saying "but you're wrong". 'Cause you know, at surface level, all he does here is telling his best friend that he matters. Which, while surely still emotional and probably awkward for someone who's not used to expressing their emotions, should be easy. There's literally no risk involved in that.
But Eddie's struggling to get the words out, he's hesitant. He can't even look at Buck while he talks. Because he's saying so much more with these words, he wants to say so much more. And i feel like at least a part of Buck hears that, too.
no, because literally everything about that scene is so sus if you're looking at it from a ✨best friends✨ perspective. eddie made the decision to put buck in his will a year ago and he didn't tell him until now. why? if it wasn't supposed to be some big revelation, why did the writers choose to have it after the well collapse instead of directly after the shooting? and the reason for which eddie finally told buck the truth, god. to prove to him that he isn't expendable and that there are people who want him and need him. the same thing everyone around buck has been trying to tell him since the beginning of s4, finally hammered home when eddie proved it to him. gosh, and the absolute emotion in his eyes when he says it. you're absolutely right, there was so much that went unspoken in that conversation. saying, "because, evan," and "you act like you're expendable. but you're wrong." is probably the closest way eddie could express how he felt about buck without making it painfully obvious. he literally wasn't able to make eye contact until he finished speaking because he knew he wouldn't be able to contain himself if he did.

How do Whitty and Ruv comfort the other when they’re feeling down?
Aww! Well, hmmm... at first, neither of them could really tell when the other was feeling sad. Emotional intelligence is weak with these two, lol. Whitty did learn early on that Ruv became less grumpy the more time they spent together. Now, if Ruv is feeling sad (which is hard to tell sometimes, because sad Ruv looks a lot like Happy Ruv. And angry Ruv. And tired Ruv. Actually, every Ruv is tired Ruv.) he'll just spend time with him. Maybe not doing anything, just sitting. He might suggest they do a semi-illegal activity, but besides that, just being in the same vicinity as Ruv makes him feel better. If it's really bad, he'll ask (nicely) if Ruv wants to cuddle. Usually, Ruv will say yes, and then it's laying on the couch watching stupid cable for the next 4 hours.
Whitty though... Whitty dosen't get sad. He's either angry or scared, because he's pretty melancholic and cynical regularly anyway. When Whitty is actually sad, Ruv has to take some time to calm him down first, and keep him from, ya know, exploding, Be it out of rage or panic. This usually includes kind words being called from a ways away, which is already just asking for accidental earthquakes. Once Whitty is not on fire, Ruv makes jokes or talks about Sarv, or anything kinda happy he can think of as they hold hands and walk around the City. Finally, when Whitty isn't feeling explode-y, he'll just dump whatever awful thing had happened on Ruv, venting for a long time, and usually crying in the process. This interaction always ends up in cuddles.
