As the art market continues to reappraise the contributions and works of female painters, one candidate for reconsideration is Theresa Bernstein(1890-2002). Indeed a 2014 retrospective of her work made the case for her promotion to the higher levels of American art. This c. 1925 work by important early American modernist painter William Myerowitz (husband of Theresa Bernstein) may be Of Central Park. By the mid-20s Myerowitz was splitting time between Gloucester and NYC. He was heavily influenced by the latest trends in Europe . You can see the Cubist influence in his depiction of the tree canopy.
