Hey so in the picture you drew explaining how big Stevens gem was and how it functioned as a brain it looked like the bottom edge of it digs into the general mouth and throat region. So my question is, is there like, a little bit of gem sticking out of the roof of Steven's mouth? I'm assuming probably not but I'm also so dang curious. Also, I love your comic.

First of all - Iām not a medical professional, but Iām very much a fan of the ālife uhā¦ finds a way?ā approach, because honestly people have lived with VERY severe deformities, and this aināt shit.Ā
Yes, Stevenās insides are a little scrambled, but inside the skull area his softer cartilage and bones have formed in such a way as to accommodate his erā¦ heirloom.Ā
His throat and mouth are actually not as affected as one might think - everything is just kind of pushed down further into his throat. When he was little he had a speech impediment, but not so much of one as to cause concern. He actually mostly had trouble with nasal sounds (m and n) because his nasal cavity is actually bisected and kind ofā¦ flares outward.Ā
I have to impress upon yāall also that - his gem is ONLY poking out uncovered through his head.Ā
Inside of his mouth, thereās a layer of tissue covering it, so you canāt really see the glossy diamond surface or anything.
But obviously if you were to like, shine a light inside his mouth yes, you would see that it is very much differently shaped than that of his peers.Ā
Has anyone done this? I mean, not any professional. Stevenās baby teeth all fell out quite early on because there wasā¦ not really enough room in his skull for baby AND adult teeth, and heās never been to the dentist. Heās just never needed to go, no one really bothered to take him.Ā
Iām sure if you want to you can counter-argue these points, but please remember - you are allowing Suspension of Disbelief for a boy literally having a rock instead of a brain, so please allow me SOME cartoon biology as well. Iām trying here!

So, I donāt know about you, but when life decides to throw me a curve ball (or 10) one of my coping mechanisms is to fill any available free time I have (i.e. sleep time) with stories. Itās a way of stepping sideways into a place that isnāt the one where I have to be an adult and juggle all the shit. Iām not just talking novels, one of the biggest sources of reading material for me is fanfiction and I am constantly amazed and inspired by just how much talent is out there.
The past few years have been especially filled with curve balls and a variety of other projectile shit and in search of more worlds I discovered the Gravity Falls fandom and itās incredible number of talented authors and artists - seriously, SO MUCH amazing stuff!
Iād like to get better at writing a comment (even if itās tiny) on all the fics Iāve read and loved but I often find myself just hitting the kudos button or sending a quick message via tumblr if iām on. Itās really not doing the authors justice though so I wanted to list a few of the writers with works on Archive of Our Own or tumblr that struck a particular cord with me and that Iād encourage you to check out.
